tess so glad your DD is home, hope you're both doing ok.

Thanks chops might have to go and try a few pairs on..

I was planning to do treadmill intervals tomorrow, but this evening DD was standing on the bed while I was lying on it and she landed and kind of bent my knee join backwards in its socket (thanks DD!) it's quite sore now, though have iced it. Wondering if I should have a rest tomorrow now? It's frustrating as usually I'd be able to make it up on Thursday or Friday but my 3yo's nursery breaks up for half term tomorrow and as DH isn't around much it'll be difficult for me to get out til Saturday...

Good news about your foot Melanie.

Wow pootle that is an amazing time. I've noticed all the triathlon club members come in with very fast times at our parkrun. You all must be super fit.

Glad your dd is out of hospital Tess. You will probably need a day or two to recover and catch up on sleep anyway. It's horrendous trying to sleep on the childrens wards.

My last run for a few days or so until the teeth get sorted and better. 7.1 to add from me bringing the total to 899.6. We are getting there rightly :)

I'm donning the high viz vest for a few weeks- have told the Parkrun director I'm all hers for a while, and have volunteered to Marshall at the 10k race I was due to run next month, but realistically won't be able to.

That's a great attitude and hopefully will cheer you up a bit MelanieCheeks, you'll be back before you know it!

There was a great message from one of the Leamington parkrunners last week that said:

"Hello Parkrun,

Still injured so I was wondering if you needed any help on Saturday?

I really enjoy volunteering, might give up running and do that instead!!

Many thanks"

I loved it so much I shared it on our page too :)

We have a few runners who can't run at the moment and volunteer instead. It's lovely that there is such a good atmosphere that people want to be there even when they can't run

Tess - great to hear you and DD are home

Morrigu - it feels like the cross-training element of tri training has really done me good. And because the run is only a bit of it (compared to say training for a half marathon or marathon or whatever) I guess I've tried to work on pace more than distance iyswim. If I want to do longer endurance I follow a bike ride with a run or something, rather than doing a longer slower run.

Cinnamon - I'm just reading Julian Goater's book 'The Art of Running Faster' and he recommends running twice a day (5 days a week). Bit tricky to fit into tri training and have rest days too though I think.

Great news Melanie and an amazing 5k time pootle

Bit tricky trying to fit it into real life I'd have said :)

Tess - take special care of yourself too. Looking after a poorly child is a HUGE emotional and physical strain. It was DS's broken leg at 3.6 yrs old that started me running as I just needed some head space. 5 years later I'm still here and going to be spending most weekends in June running with him :o

No running here as on my own with DC but back to Suffolk tomorrow hopefully (stuff you Mr Gove and your interference in my parenting choices Angry) and my first parkrun on Saturday - ridiculously excited :)

are you doing a Suffolk parkrun feetheart? am about equidistant from bury st eds, sudbury/gt cornard and ipswich (only 3 I know of)

printed barcodes out a long time ago but still have yet to organise my saturday mornings

Report
cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2014 06:27

I may be doing bury a week on Saturday Mitchy1nge. We used to go to the cinema Saturday mornings as they have a£1.50 film at Cineworld but don't these days. I reckon if we all go to bury parkrun I can run and we can get to the cinema but dh doesn't want the rush :( working on him to try it just once!

Mitchy -actually going to the Fritton lake one as although we are camping in Suffolk this looks the closest and the friend I'm going with went last week so knows the way :)
No run here today but hopefully will get out into the Suffolk lanes tomorrow.

Oh fritton lake is lovely! Fond memories of going there as a child, and taking mine when they were very young.

Morning all.

5.2 miles from me this morning so we crack on 904.8.

I did a sprint tri about 4 years ago pootle. I really enjoyed it but I struggled to fit all the training in and I was only working part-time then. I dread to think how I would fit it in round full time working. Often it's hard enough to get out running three times a week!

Back from an 8.5 mile plod

My blisters now have blisters....

Report
Mitchy1nge · 21/05/2014 11:41

ah Fritton is too many miles away from me, even my closest ones are still at least a 30 minute drive but thought I might make more of an effort to get to a parkrun if I can pretend to be meeting someone there Grin enjoy anyway, sorry we are not having a heatwave as such in Suffolk yet

have 3.1 to add to whatever our total is, also had long interesting chat with a running friend who has never ever run more than 5k 3 or 4 times a week - sometimes she just runs a mile or two. Have spent so much time with long distance runners it was fascinating, also making me think about what I want from running and whether I could be happy longer term running fewer miles and having more energy for cycling.

Mitchy1nge · 21/05/2014 11:44

I make our total 916.4

or from Paris to Rome and possibly on to Hadrian's villa at Tivoli?

3.1 on the treadmill yesterday, plus another 3.2 'wading through treacle' run just now (I'm Australian, the heat shouldn't bother me this much Blush. Makes it 922.6?

Report
vladthedisorganised · 21/05/2014 15:05

A sedate 3.5 miles today - definitely a 'wading through treacle' run! Dry heat is fine, it's just the wretched humidity - H thinks I'm nuts as I'm looking forward to a very rainy run on Saturday (apparently).
Ah well, better than yesterday's paltry effort.

Which should bring us up to 926.1.

Report
Mitchy1nge · 21/05/2014 15:17

where are you all for it to be so hot? Envy the most we've enjoyed is about 22 C so far - maybe because it's quite open so any breeze can move about freely and not get all trapped in buildings?

Report
vladthedisorganised · 21/05/2014 15:41

South East here - it's been threatening to rain for the last few days but nothing's happening The heat is bearable but it's so humid that it's hard to breathe properly and my legs get very heavy!

Report
Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 21/05/2014 16:24

Yep, south east too. It's the humidity that gets me, I'm fine with dry heat as that's what I'm used to. When my family come to visit they always say it feels much warmer at the same temp as it would in Oz.

Horrible 6 km on the treadmill - is that 3.7 miles, anyone know?

Report

929.8 I believe, if you add my 3.7 miles (I checked and that looks about right).
