She was lovely :)

Superhero run sounds fun!

feetheart · 11/06/2014 09:15

It will be fun if I don't mind being soundly beaten by my 8 yr old Batman :)

HalleLouja · 11/06/2014 13:21

We are going to a christening so won't be able to dress up and run Sad.

KristinaM · 11/06/2014 13:37

Well done chops

Can I get your autograph ? Wink

vladthedisorganised · 11/06/2014 14:06

Well done chops!

Superhero run sounds like great fun, I'd be up for that!

6.9km today including a very muddy run through the woods with the odd hurdle thrown in - which takes us to 701.3

Blatherskite · 11/06/2014 14:20

I've been Race Director at a Superhero run today!

The marathon was this morning and there is a half this evening. Had to come back to pick up the kids from School and pre school and take DS to his swimming lesson otherwise I'd have been there all day as it was such good fun. I might take my kit down later and run a lap of the half marathon as my Juneathon activity for today.

Morrigu · 11/06/2014 15:17

Well done chops

A sunny and hot 13.7 to add which brings us to an even 715. Am I right in thinking we are rapidly approaching the half-way mark?

Fishandjam · 11/06/2014 15:33

emummy, I was told I need to hold the stretch for minimum 30 seconds - previously I'd been doing about 10 Blush

Do you need more iron?

Otherwise, I'd always recommend an agonising massage. I'm due one on Thursday. Last time I told the physio that other than DH, he was the only man who could make me cry Grin

Wow chops, that's impressive!

ThursdayLast · 11/06/2014 15:51

Wohoo chops! I didn't watch it last night though waaaah!
That sounds like fun Blathers Smile

The entry for my local HM opened . Hmmmmmm.

8k from me today, so I make that 723

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2014 20:54

Had a quick look on iplayer not a stalker I promise and found you chopstheduck, how cool!!! Never heard of it before but then I'm not into triathlons at all.

Go for it ThursdayLast, if I can do it so can anyone!

Sounds like fun blatherskite, can imagine doing any kind of distance dressed up! Took it very slowly when we did the onsie parkrun and that was warm!

Fishandjam · 11/06/2014 21:05

728 with tonight's slow and sweaty 5k.

fingersonbuzzers · 11/06/2014 21:29

That sounds fun blathers - can I be nosey, and just ask, I'm on the facebook page for our local sweatshop rc page and there's an event on there for SRC takes on parkrun.

Someone's commented on the parkrun side of things who has the same first name as you and I wondered if it was you, as if so I think we have a mutual fb friend. How exciting!

originalpiratematerial · 11/06/2014 21:34

733 with my 5 km from yesterday morning.

karatekimmi · 11/06/2014 21:55

Wow chops that sounds fun!!

I did a steady 6.5 k again, I really need my club to switch things up a bit!! Same run again!

739.5

postmanpatscat · 11/06/2014 22:12

7.1k from me, so 746.6

SeymoreButts · 12/06/2014 05:26

Hello, is this the right thread for all things running related? If so, can I join in? If not can someone point me in the right direction please?

I am new to running, I've just finished the couch to 5k and today ran 7km in 39 minutes which I'm quite pleased with!! I'm only managing to run once a week at the mo but would like to get to 10k. Do most of you run every day?

karatekimmi · 12/06/2014 07:01

I run 3 to 4 times a week mostly I run with my running club an I try to parkrun on Saturdays. I'm aiming for a half marathon in September, my longest current run is 8 miles!!

Have you found a 10k to enter or do you just want to do the distance?

KristinaM · 12/06/2014 07:41

Fingers -sorry, I missed you reply, this thread moves so fast !

If you are already doing 25k per week you will find it easier to move up to the HM training. Even just increasing your long slow runs by 1km each week will soon make a difference.

Ideally to train for the HM you should be running 3times race distance per week, including a long run of nearly race distance or over. So that's 60km per week. Although that would be easier on 4 runs per week than three.

You did 35 last week and could easily do 27 next week and 30 in two weeks.so you are nearly half way there and your race is months away !!!

Just search online for HM training plans and chose one you like that's based on running 3 times per week .then work backwards from your race to get a start date for the training plan . Between now and the start date , just increase you mileage gradually, no more than 10 per cent per week

I always add a few week into the programme, ie I start a 10 week programme 12weeks before race. Then if I get injured /sick /kids get sick /on holiday I can accommodate it ok.

I understand about the school holidays BTW, I can only run in term time as my DH works away a lot . That's why I only do spring races, autumn in hard with the long summer holidays . Of course, a good mother would enjoy spending time with her little darlings, rather than looking longingly at her running shoes ....Wink

Blatherskite · 12/06/2014 08:06

fingers my name is incredibly common but I did comment on the SRC does parkrun page, yes. Something about volunteers I think...

Welcome Seymore. You're in the right place. We have runners of all abilities here. Personally, I don't usually run everyday although I do try to get out every other day. I'm training for a few half marathons at the moment.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 12/06/2014 09:00

5k from me this morning so the running total is up to 751.6.

Today was the first time I've run since Whipsnade on Sunday. It was hard! My legs felt heavy and it is already very hot.

Welcome to the thread Seymore. I try to run 3 times per week. I would like to get out more but work and family life get in the way. And rest is important too!

SeymoreButts · 12/06/2014 09:01

Thanks Grin sounds like I need to aim for every other day at least. And then one longer run once a week?

I've been using the mapmyrun app to keep track of distances. I haven't got a 10k to enter but I was hoping to join a running club and thought I'd better get myself up to 10k before that!

I'm based in Sydney at the moment so mostly post in the middle of the night!

Blatherskite · 12/06/2014 09:15

I need to add the 3.6 miles that I managed to fit in between Race Director duties yesterday! 5.8k brings us to 752.4

Seymore, there are quite a few parkruns in Australia. I think they start earlier than ours due to the heat though. Most running clubs (at least here in the UK) will do a beginners couch to 5k type course so I wouldn't have thought there would be a need to get to 10k before joining one.

Chopstheduck · 12/06/2014 10:42

757.8

did do some cycle training yesterday - managed 8.5 miles in 30 minutes, which I was quite chuffed with. Then I hit traffic and had to slow down. Planning cycling routes is totally different to planning running routes, I need to do some mapping!

Had to get out for a run this morning, so 5.4k to add from me. Was very hot though, do not like running in this head. Plus my quads are still a bit sore from body pump on Monday.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2014 11:38

Hi SeymoreButts, Simpsons fan? I run 3-4 ones a week, usually 2 during the week 4-6 miles each, parkrun (free times 5k run, I believe there are a few in Australia) on Saturday and a longer Sunday run if I'm training and life allows!!

4 miles from me so 6.2k? 762?!?!

postmanpatscat · 12/06/2014 18:14

Amended total is now 770.8 due to a few cross postings above!

Welcome seymore 3-4 times a week is good, 3 times is manageable for most people.
