Thanks cinnamon - that relay looks great! Was just saying to DH I'd love to do a relay at some point. Do you have your own team or have they put you in one?

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 13:33

My club enter a team every year I volunteered to Marshal last year as I wasn't confident enough to do a leg but I've got my first choice of leg and I'm second runner for 2 others. Got a meeting a week weds so I'll know more about how it works then :)

fingersonbuzzers · 09/06/2014 13:41

It looks amazing cinnamon, what distance is your leg?

Mitchy1nge · 09/06/2014 13:44

my club is doing that :)

MUST involve self with club more and not just use UKA number for discounted entries to races I don't do

ThursdayLast · 09/06/2014 14:03

cinnamon that looks like so much fun!

KristinaM · 09/06/2014 14:43

If cinnamon is stage 7 , it's 9.24 miles, on the road

Well, I am officially knackered!

I got my PB at Whipsnade - I didn't knock as much as I'd like to have done off but 55:45 is a full minute so given the weather, I think that will do for now - and after that we spent the whole day walking around the zoo and today has been DD's pre school trip - to another zoo!

After a very hot run and 2 days of animal sightseeing I am totally drained. I'm supposed to be out tonight doing a sort of moving boot camp covering 5k but will plenty of stop offs for push ups and similar. I've bailed. I'm so tired I just cannot face it. Looks like I'll be counting my 10 minutes of Swan boat pedalling as my Juneathon activity today Blush

KristinaM · 09/06/2014 15:28

Well done blathers , great run, especially in the heat .

HalleLouja · 09/06/2014 16:29

Question for you.

I used runkeeper on my 10k and it looks like it over estimated my run. Would a garmin be more accurate. It came back as 6.6 miles and that was after I fixed it on the laptop.

Well done blathers. It was baking yesterday. I loved the shady bits.

Blatherskite · 09/06/2014 16:33

I was juts going to come and ask if anyone else got a short course!

My Garmin made it 6.25 miles so yesterday won't count as a PB on my stats Sad

I love the shady bits - and the flat bit around the Rhinos. There was a lovely breeze up there. Absolutely loved the first lap where they were running with us and it felt like being paced by them :)

feetheart · 09/06/2014 16:55

I loved the very non-plussed looking cheetahs sitting watching us with disdainful faces :)

Two zoos in two days - that's dedication. No wonder you are shattered Blathers

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 16:58

Fab time Blatherskite!! Those things are tough to pedal!

Yep that's mine KristinaM but I'm also reserve for stage 8 (7.52), 14 (7.27), 15 (10.59) which I haven't look at terrain for. I think it depends if someone really wants a leg and someone else doesn't mind swapping. I was recommended to go for a road leg first as they are not marked so it can be tough finding your way if it's all unfamiliar!

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 17:00

Garmins are definitely more accurate than phone app's, mine always adds 1/4-1/2 a mile depending on total distance.

I thought a 10k was 6.2miles Blatherskite?

fingersonbuzzers · 09/06/2014 17:25

Well done Blathers! I, too, thought a 10k was 6.2 miles, doesn't that mean you did over?

Blatherskite · 09/06/2014 17:27

Sorry, I meant 6.15! I guess it's close enough.

fingersonbuzzers · 09/06/2014 18:59

Course it's close enough Blathers, that's an awesome time! Well done, I'm tempted to sign up if it's on next year.

Are you doing our 'home' parkrun this week btw?

Standingonlego · 09/06/2014 19:13

That is a fabulous time blathers. You must have been running close to my DH who managed to turn in 55 min exactly Envy

I found lap 2 really draining - the heat just sapped the run out of me. I had to do a bit of walking on and off which is very unusual as i can normally just plod along. The views over the Downs were gorgeous though - but I only saw the Rhinos bottoms :)

HalleLouja · 09/06/2014 19:25

I was next to someone walking at 9km and told her she could do it but wasn't sure if I could.

I did end up being more competitive than I realised.

Bring on Herts 10k.

Think I am going to get a garmin but not sure which is the best for me. Run a few times a week but wouldn't call myself serious per se.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 20:41

603.6

Fishandjam · 09/06/2014 20:42

Great time blathers!

More Runkeeper woes here. Just been out for a long run (57 mins) and it reckons I did 9.1km! I don't bloody think so Hmm Looking at the tracklog, it went all weird and zigzaggy at one point, when I was only ever running in a straight line. So I think it's added around an extra k. Still, 8k in an hour will more than do - maybe I won't disgrace myself on Sunday after all! (Definitely felt the bonk as I was finishing, though.)

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 20:44

Whoops Blush

4.5 miles doggy run for me plus 100 mosquito bites takes total to 610.8

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 20:45

618.8 with fishandjam's 8k

Fishandjam · 09/06/2014 20:45

Ha, just looked at the splits. Runkeeper thinks I did the first km in 1:20, and the second in 1:15. Bit of a mystery why I can't achieve a sub-30 parkrun, isn't it Grin

Fishandjam · 09/06/2014 20:56

Looks like the distance is about 7.7 - so a new total of 618.5.

originalpiratematerial · 09/06/2014 21:00

I have a Garmin but haven't got really used to using it yet. I have Endomondo on my phone but it has definitely thrown up some inaccurate results from time to time Hmm.
