Oh no Thurs. Hope it resolves soon.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/06/2014 21:08

Well done everyone at whipsnade!!!

Sorry to hear about your back ThursdayLast!

Some races have a limit fishandjam and if they don't then they won't mind how long you take! For example the Norwich half is 2 laps and if you haven't completed the first lap in 1hr 30 min you can't carry on to do the second.

Fishandjam · 08/06/2014 21:20

Thanks cinnamon. I don't think there's a time limit - had better check!

Standingonlego · 08/06/2014 21:26

Hi folks - home on the sofa at last after whipsnade and neighbours impromptu BBQ. It was so hot. It was lovely to meet feetheart and cardiff and apologies for my sweaty and slightly incoherent state!

Times are in 1 hr 6 min aand 59s for me (453th) - i just had to walk at times, the parkrun yesterday taking it's toll maybe? Meanwhile DH on his o training did 55.28 - very proud of him even thought it sent him into a slightly dehydrated grump Grin

Staggered round some of the animals, and then collapsed in heap while my ever wonderful DM & DF took the DSto see the giraffes!

DS1 did the 2km and is delighted with his medal, DS2 bailed after the false antelope related start in floods of tears. Oh well.

So all in all a great day, but am now officially shattered!

feetheart · 08/06/2014 21:31

pirate - I heard that on the news, so so sad for all concerned :(

Sorry I didn't find you Cardiff, it was a bit mad at the end. Glad you weren't left on your todd at the wolefs though.

Chip time has me at 61.49 so, yes I was just ahead of you HalleLouja. I struggled a bit on the second lap but spotted DH and DC (who I didn't think would make it until the end) by the Discovery Centre and that spurred me on for the final lap. Think the sprint finish, with DS running alongside, nearly did me in too.
Took nearly 5mins off my only other 10k 2.5 years ago but lots to work on as I really want to crack 60mins this year (ambitious, moi?)

DS managed to come 13th overall (out of 56) in the 2k and really impressed me again. I just know he is going to beat me over 5k next week - he is 8 for goodness sake Shock

Fish - I doubt anyone would mind at all. Those who finished towards the end today were getting the biggest cheers :)

Thursday - take care of that back.

Have eaten a very veggie heavy barbeque plus a huge fruit salad. Had to deal with desperate craving for fruit on way home by stopping at the Co-op and buying all in sight. No doubt the chocolate/sticky bun craving will hit tomorrow :)

feetheart · 08/06/2014 21:38

Glad you got home safely Lego and had a good day.

I think 'sweaty and slightly incoherent' was the order of the day wasn't it? I'm not sure I made any sense at all to Blathers as I hadn't long finished Hmm

Currently MNing inside whilst DH and his sis play rather lovely ukelele tunes in the garden. Am wondering what the new neighbours are thinking :)

Fishandjam · 08/06/2014 21:43

No time limit - last year a few people were finishing late 1:20/early 1:30, so hopefully I won't be alone but for the tail runner! It's a charidee event so maybe a bit less serious.

Fishandjam · 08/06/2014 21:46

Ah, cross posted with the Whipsnade stories. I am officially jealous (of times and animals both!)

ThursdayLast · 08/06/2014 21:50

I too am jealous of the lovely run/fun you've all had together
But in a friendly way Smile

Morrigu · 08/06/2014 21:54

Sounds like a good day had by all :) Cracking times by you all too!

Heard about that on the news originalpirate. Very, very sad for his family.
News like that always freaks me out slightly as heart problems run in my family and both younger siblings have had issues over the last few years. I'm a tiny bit paranoid at times when exercising.

None to add from me today, instead I went to the gym for a spot of cardio and strength crosstraining for the first time. By goodness it was tough and I was sweating buckets. Fair play to anyone who does it and horses for courses but I was watching people on the treadmills and thinking I couldn't just go the gym all the time for running. I found it boring as hell stuck in the one room and not being out in the fresh air and changing surroundings.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 08/06/2014 23:33

Yes Fish, I am doing Alconbury on Sunday. I was recommended it by a friend as good for new runners so I'm sure they will be supportive. I'm very nervous about it being hot.

Haven't received my race pack yet, does anyone else have theirs?

Very sad news from the Southend half. Someone I worked with died at the Great Eastern a few years ago, it was really terrible.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 07:02

They may not send it the femaleJoshLyman, check your confirmation email. I've done 6 races now and only been sent my number by one the rest send directions by email and you collect your number on the day. That was one of my jobs at my clubs 10k handing out numbers on the A-G table :)

TessTackle · 09/06/2014 09:58

Fucking ouch limping home from park :(

vladthedisorganised · 09/06/2014 10:07

Congratulations to all the Whipsnade runners!

Not as much running as I would like this week - my dad had a bad week so training time had to be sacrificed for keeping an eye on him. A pity as running is sometimes the only thing that keeps me sane.. Sad

Anyway, finally made it out for a very hot and pollen-filled run yesterday. I experimented with drinking 500ml of water before going out but it didn't work so well for me - it was as if something was sloshing around my insides; I'll go back to jelly babies next time! Only made it to 8.9km which wasn't a patch on last Saturday, but I guess every little helps: 582.2. I'm hoping against hope that the HM in September is slightly drizzly.. I suppose it's all acclimatisation or something?

Terrible news about the Southend HM; I hadn't heard. It must be such a shock to his poor family.

ThursdayLast · 09/06/2014 10:42

Oh no tess what have you done?

Sirzy · 09/06/2014 10:47

3km done in just under 21 mins :)

May be slow compared to a lot of people but when I started it took me 33 mins to do the same

OP posts:
Sirzy · 09/06/2014 10:48

whats happened tess?

OP posts:
TessTackle · 09/06/2014 10:49

Wrenched my hip Saturday night with DP Blush thought it was ok so ran, but it started playing up and then really hurting in my last 3min run.
Thankfully managed to do the day of c25k. Will rest it now!

6.37k from me

TessTackle · 09/06/2014 10:49

Hadn't heard about the Southend half :( how awful.

Sirzy · 09/06/2014 10:59

Owch tess, hope it is better soon

OP posts:
originalpiratematerial · 09/06/2014 11:33

Sympathies, vlad - I'm sorry your dad is unwell.

Tess ouch! Wish you better soon.

7 very slow and sweaty km from me. Ran to work and combination of heat and wearing backpack really slowed me down. It was like swimming through soup, ugh.

originalpiratematerial · 09/06/2014 11:34

598.6 including sirzy's, tess's and mine.

fingersonbuzzers · 09/06/2014 11:43

Hi all!

Not been off for a week as had a week off all exercise due to DD still being on half term from pre schoo, DH working crazy hours and us having a weekend away.

Got out this morning at about 10 when it was already v hot but did a 5k speed session and managed to get a pb of 26:41 which I am really pleased with as being trying to do a sub-27 min 5k for a while :)

Going to go back and read the rest of the thread and catch up now!

Oh, I think that puts us on 603.6 km?

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 11:49

Sorry to hear about your dad Vladthedisorganised

Sounds like not such a bad way to get injured TessTackle, hope it's not too long term!

Just had to post as we've had the provisional list for the round norfolk relay and I've got leg 7, I'm sooooooooo excited but also quite nervous about letting everyone down!! For those that have never heard of it this is it!

cinnamongreyhound · 09/06/2014 11:50

Well done fingersonbuzzers, x post somehow. Must be slow!!!
