Oh no Blathers I'd rather no-one got my rubbish run. Commiserations.

Well done on the parkrun pbs fishandjam and JoshLyman. Fingers crossed for the trainers.

Was talking to someone today who has completed multiple ironmans (that is the right plural isn't it?) and the marathon des sables. I was a tenny bit awestruck I have to say Grin

Ohh the total is so close!

Mitchy1nge · 31/05/2014 20:59

I have 7.4 to add (was 3.5 but thanks to land rover breaking down had to run back or miss my dinner)

Fishandjam · 31/05/2014 21:47

Thanks for the good wishes chaps! Yes fingers, I'm in the trainers competition - which I hope I don't win, as I've just bought another pair of Sauconys (last year's model, cheap!)

Re our target: I reckon my twice weekly bootcamps must be worth 5k a time? Not that we do much running, but all those planks and kettlebells must count for something. What do you all reckon?

melliebobs · 01/06/2014 08:32

Got a 10k in 1hr45 mins

I'm full of a head cold. I've took hay fever relief and cold n flu tablets and drunk plenty of water. I'm resigned to coming last n run walking it. (It's just a small local one) but I've paid in advance so I'm going

youbethemummylion · 01/06/2014 08:43

Not been around for a while well done everyone on their runs. since completing the race I started running to do Ive sold my garmin and just run for runnings sake no idea or distance/times etc but im laid up with a really very painful foot, I suspect stress fracture does anyone know what this feels like, really dont have time to go to docs if its just one of those things. The pain is across top of foot just after where toes end and cant put weight on that part either having to walk on my heel. Do you think I just need to RICE or do you think it needs investigating?

orangeflutie · 01/06/2014 08:51

Hope you enjoy your 10k as much as you can with a cold Mellie. Good LuckSmile

I went out very early this morning and ran 4 miles. Decided not to go any further as I was awake from 2am onwards this morning. Just could not get back to sleepHmm I seem to get more nights like this now. Must be an age thing!

Mitchy I've had a quick peep at your blog. I'm impressed you're exercising every day, makes me feel quite lazySmile. I would like to run a bit more often but am struggling to fit it all in. Good luck with it all.

Blatherskite · 01/06/2014 08:52

Juneathon started this morning so I should be able to add a lot more miles for this month as I'm going to be running almost every day. I've re-joined Weightwatchers too as things have definitely been slipping recently and I clothes are getting tight. I was running better and faster than I'd ever done before after last year's Juneathon so I'm really hoping this will help with the next half marathon I have in July - time to start working on the sub 2 hours I'd like to do!

Sirzy · 01/06/2014 09:26

Oh dear. First run in 2 weeks, managed 2.5k and I was knackered

Blatherskite · 01/06/2014 09:32

It'll come back Sirzy. Yesterday was my first run in a week which I think was part of the reason I struggled so much.

Sirzy · 01/06/2014 09:35

I know. Going to try to fit as many runs in as possible this week - just gentle easy ones though.

Got 3 weeks until my next 10k so plenty of time

Hi, can anyone give me some trainer advice? I've noticed that the insoles in my Adidas Supernova have moulded to the shape of my toes (as in imprint for each toe plus a ridge in between).

Does that mean I need new trainers? I have had them about 3 years but only started running about 3 months ago so might have only covered 100 miles walk/run in them.

melliebobs · 01/06/2014 09:40

The recommendation to change is 300-500miles or 6 months whatever's soonest. So I'd get myself some new ones Grin

IAmNotDarling · 01/06/2014 09:52

Thanks mellie Blush

Mitchy1nge · 01/06/2014 10:02

oh good luck everyone racing today, is actually a Nice Day for once

thanks for looking flutie :) blathers are we allowed to see your juneathon blog? it's a shame for it to start on a Day Off for me but seem to be getting into a Sunday cycling habit so that counts

have migrated to a RW 1/2 marathon plan which looks fairly gentle but am absurdly excited about

I had something similar to this a couple of months ago except it was just in one spot at the bottom of the second toe. I was really worried it was a stress fracture - it was swollen & after a couple of days a bruise appeared. I rested it for 2 or 3 weeks & it's been fine ever since. I think it stopped hurting & the swelling disappeared after a week. If it hadn't stopped then, I was planning to visit the doctor. If it's been really painful for more than a few days, I think I'd get it checked out if I were you. Hth

I've heard LOTS about comrades, what an ordeal! keep us posted, will be thinking of him and all of them while I cycle leisurely around a bit of Suffolk in the gentle sun Grin

Shosha1 · 01/06/2014 10:19

I have friends at Comrades right now :)

Good luck to your DS Shosha

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/06/2014 11:01

mummylion I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. I'd run a HM without much training on the Monday, then spent a long time in the car motorway driving on the Weds (with foot in the same position for many hours). By the middle of Weds night I was in agony - tried to stand up to get painkillers and passed out with the pain.

My xray was clear, but apparently that is quite common. I have RICE'd for a couple of weeks and am taking it easy, not running much and the pan has gone apart form an occasional twinge. My problem stems from an injury on my right side (tendon/calf) which has affected my gait and put more pressure on my left side (where the possible SF was).

I hope you feel better soon.
