Thanks ppc :) I'll be out with my little running gang on Sunday morning at least. Maybe this evening too, see how I feel after an hour of martial arts!

I'm very slow so it just sounds like a lot of running to do 10k! But I can get over that. just wish my DH wasn't so much faster than me

Blatherskite · 30/05/2014 13:22

I should be able to add plenty of miles for June. I have signed up for Juneathon again!

Mitchy1nge · 30/05/2014 13:40

ooh I signed up for Juneathon! I started a blog but totally forgot about it until now!

I still shouldn't be running much more than 12-15 miles a week but want to up the cycling and if I can shut my garmin up I could include horse rides (but new horse is a twitchy baby and it's not that amusing for the watch to trill every mile!) and walks - doesn't have to be running does it?

Mitchy1nge · 30/05/2014 13:42

my fascinating blog Grin

I cringe at the very thought of it but secretly obviously can talk about running ENDLESSLY

Blatherskite · 30/05/2014 14:04

It's made me laugh already Michy

I love "Juneathon is a stupid running challenge" Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 30/05/2014 14:47

It's not too late BetsyBell! I'm still thinking, dh said 'so you expect us to drive all that way to stand around like d@&!s waiting for you to run around?'. My response was yes but then we can all go to the zoo to which he replied 'oh great!' Grin

BetsyBell · 30/05/2014 15:28

Nice bit of support from your DH there cinnamon! Sadly I'm already busy on the run date and am in no way ready to run 10k up and down hills

cinnamongreyhound · 30/05/2014 15:43

He's been to all but one of my races but he does like to make a few comments now and then! Three of them have been hm's so he's done a bit of waiting around :) bit of Jekyll and hyde at times!

Mitchy1nge · 30/05/2014 15:45

blathers Grin am looking forward to it really!

1264.6 now I think with today's 4.4 miles, leaving myself hardly anything for my 'long run' tomorrow Confused

Morrigu · 30/05/2014 16:05

A measly 2.9 to add from me -- and I had to pause the garmin and walk a minute! I think my northern irish blood isn't used to any temperature above 14 as I thought I was going to melt into a sweaty puddle.

Having a bit of a crisis of faith in myself. Before I got the teeth out I was easily running 10/11k but after a week off I feel I'm really struggling. In the back of my head I'm now panicking a bit that I signed up for a hm in a few months.

Sorry that only brings it to 1267.5*.

I love your blog already Mitchy Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 30/05/2014 16:19

Don't be daft Morrigu, a week isn't enough to lose all that fitness! I had a horribly slow run the other morning, nothing I could put my finger on just couldn't go faster and it all felt so tough. Yesterday went out without the dogs and felt great the whole time, not a 10k pb but a quick one I do ache a bit today though

Morrigu · 30/05/2014 16:39

Oh I know I'm being a bit daft cinnamon just it's the second bad, horrible run in a row. Trying not to overthink it and be my own worst enemy. Just one of those weeks unfortunately. Try again tomorrow.

cinnamongreyhound · 30/05/2014 16:47

I didn't mean that to sound harsh, was supposed to be supportive, hope you have a better run tomorrow.

Blatherskite · 30/05/2014 16:59

I think sometimes we can make a run horrible by expecting it to be Morrigu. Easier said than done but if you can try to start tomorrow's run expecting it to be better, then you might find it easier.

We all have bad runs from time to time. They're what make the good runs feel awesome :)

originalpiratematerial · 30/05/2014 17:31

I'm from Donegal originally and I don't know if that's why but I also hate running in the heat - even 20 C makes it all seem so much harder.

Don't be downcast, Morrigu - a good run is just around the corner!

originalpiratematerial · 30/05/2014 17:33

Meanwhile, as I posted on the parkrun thread, I'm disappointed to find York parkrun cancelled tomorrow. Thank goodness I read the parkrun newsletter though!

Morrigu · 30/05/2014 17:35

Didn't sound harsh at all cinnamon and thanks. I totally agree Blathers. I think part of the problem is I'm panicking about training for my first hm and don't want to get myself into a funk where I throw up the hands and declare 'I can't do it' petulantly like my 6yo Grin.

Right plan of attack is to munch out tonight as I've probably missed out on loads of calories not being able to eat properly last week, early night sleep and positive attitude for tomorrow.

Morrigu · 30/05/2014 17:37

Grin pirate - give us the cold and rain and we come into our own though.

originalpiratematerial · 30/05/2014 19:04

Yy, Morrigu and that sounds like a plan you have there!

Runkittyrun · 30/05/2014 19:38

Hullo fellow runners! Lost the new thread but found again Smile. Thanks to everyone re the PB.

Been out on the HM plan, got soaked several times. In the two weeks since last posted I ran 61.59 miles, which makes the new total
1328.1 - we might still make 1500!

Pirate and morrigu - there's plenty of wind and rain in the fens, not that warm generally. I find running in the heat really difficult too, when it is hot here, there's little shade.

Chopstheduck · 30/05/2014 19:49

1331.2

5k from me, back from holiday and full of cold, but managed a quick 5k this morning. Hope everyone is well, should be able to catch up properly next week :)

ThursdayLast · 30/05/2014 19:54

Hello hello hello!
Sorry, I lost my MN impetus thus week but I have been out a few times - breaking in my new trail shoes with the dog. No idea what my mileage has been though.
Day off for me today, simply not feeling it. Looking forward to pr tomorrow after volunteering last week Smile

Standingonlego · 30/05/2014 22:02

Clocking in to take us to 1335.9 after a evening run as i am not at parkrun in the morning so trying to get the miles in early ahead of the weekend.

fingersonbuzzers · 30/05/2014 22:29

Hey morrigu I'm crap in the heat too :(

Had a really terrible interval run on the treadmill at the gym last week when it was really hot in there - made it to 3k then left the gym and did the final 2k outside)

Realised a few hours later that I went at 11AM and all I'd had to drink all day was half a cup of tea at 8AM.

Took a 500ml bottle of water to bed with me the night before my next run and drank it before I got out of bed, about an hour before I ran and the difference was amazing! 10k outdoors no problems.

I'm crap at remembering to drink plenty before I go so apologies if I'm preaching to the converted but it made a real difference for me. I'm running in the morning and already got a bottle of water next to the bed!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2014 06:47

Makes a big difference to me too fingersonbuzzers, I always drink a glass before I get up if I'm running in the morning. Not always organise enough to be well hydrated the day before though!
