can I just add 3.1 (actually 3:08 but rounding up to 5k) will check when I get home

cinnamongreyhound · 29/05/2014 20:22

Ooo where in Yorkshire originalpiratematerial? We're staying on the edge of the the moors in August and planning on going to Redcar parkrun :) well done in your pb!

6.2 for me, had a better offer this morning so didn't go! But I went tonight without dogs or people or music and had a fantastic run! Pushed myself despite a slight detour due to locked heathland which meant last 3/4 of a mile was all up hill!

Ages ago we were talking about vests well I've got a perfect one! One of the ladies who volunteers at parkrun eats specialK bars and you got a free vest with 2 boxes, she got two for herself and gave 3 of us two boxes each too! Anyway it came Tuesday and it's great if they're still available, just £2 postage :)

Total with Mitchy1nge' 3.1 too is 1249.5 I think!

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 20:37

I've got one of those vests too cinnamon. It fits nicely but I always end up changing before I go out as I get embarrassed that it's emblazoned with "Special K" across the shoulders Blush

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 20:43

I found this on the website standing "Gates to the event open at 8:30am. The 10k will commence at 9:30am and the 2K will commence at 11:00am. Registration fees include entry into the zoo for the day, car parking for all runners, chip timing for the 10K and 2K events and medals for all finishers".

fingersonbuzzers · 29/05/2014 21:11

Hey all, am jealous of you Whipsnade lot Envy

I am going to be away in Windsor next weekend so can't make it. DH is going to be doing a river swim that day and DD has an inset day next Friday so we're making a weekend of it and going to Legoland then watching DH swim.

Was hoping I could do Windsor Parkrun, but there doesn't appear to be one :( Had a look to see if there were any 10k races in the vicinity as I'm a bit jealous of DH getting to do something while we're away. Nothing doing, though, except Race for Life but it's only the 5k.

Just got the parkrun email about it being pb weekend this weekend - is anyone running this Saturday?

Mitchy1nge · 29/05/2014 21:12

thanks cinnamon

(it was SO NICE to run on streets! am still doing the galloway thing of 4mins running 1 minute walk and my overall pace was about 10:50, not much slower than when I run that distance off road)

originalpiratematerial · 29/05/2014 21:19

cimnamon I'm in East Yorkshire. But not very far from York so hoping to do York parkrun this weekend.

originalpiratematerial · 29/05/2014 21:20

It will be my third parkrun and first as a parkrun tourist (my local being Hackney Marshes in East Londo).

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 29/05/2014 21:21

The new total is 1252.7 as DP managed to get home before it got dark. Hurrah!
So I flew out of the door for a quick half hour run. Unfortunately the heavens opened when I was halfway round and I got soaked right through to my pants. Boo!

I am now trying to convince DP to let me have one of his Mars Bars out of the fridge, but apparently they're not "just for eating whenever, they're important Mars Bars." ShockConfused

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 22:11

Last week of tourism for me for now. Think we're going to Huntingdon. I can't see it being a PB week after having a whole week off doing no running.

feetheart · 29/05/2014 22:58

Harrumph at 'important Mars Bars' that can be replaced tomorrow morning. Tell him he's mean :)

We got our numbers today too - not sure who is more excited, DS(8) or me :)

Standing - as no-one has come forward to tell me that I promised them half price vouchers ages ago you can have two of mine (Cinnamon - if you are able to work it out you are welcome to the other two) Will need to get them to you before you go into the zoo so could either post them or meet up outside. I can also pay you the Wolef run entry money (if you let me know how much it is)
Blathers - It is pretty flat, not Silverstone-flat, gently undulating maybe :) Will be looking out for green vests now.
Do we have a MN identifier for before/during the race or do we just look for knackered athletic looking women hanging around the wolefs after the event :o

No running for me since Monday, will try and get DS out tomorrow morning.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/05/2014 23:30

Blathers are you sure you don't want to come to Bedford instead? We have a new cafe and everything Grin. I would come to Huntingdon, but need to get DS1 somewhere an hour south of here by midday so it's not going to work.

Claim to fame: though I'm not one of the runners pictured in the article, you can just see my bike in the background Grin

Standingonlego · 30/05/2014 09:03

HI feetheart that would be briilliant, will PM you.

blathers thank you for the info, that really helps. Sounds like an early start then! Bit gutted, just realised it is the SAME day as my local (end of my road) Race for Life and cannot be in 2 places at once. The dates being the same had just not clicked in my mind :(

Blatherskite · 30/05/2014 09:32

Sorry OhOne but the rule with the count-down-to-100 tourism has been that it's got to be somewhere neither of us has done before and we've both done Bedford at least twice. I'll be back soon though - if only to check out the cafe :)

I guess that's my green vest chosen for next weekend then feet Wink

feetheart · 30/05/2014 09:46

Ohone - a new cafe would get me to Bedford :)
Will be negotiating with DH for a few summer holiday Saturday mornings so I can parkrun. Will check out St Albans which is my closest one at 15 miles and Bedford is second closest.

feetheart · 30/05/2014 09:48

So Whipsnade runners are:
Cardiff
Blathers
Feetheart
Hallelouja
Standingonlego

Anyone else I've missed?

Blatherskite · 30/05/2014 10:13

I need to re-do St Albans now they're back on the normal route round the lake. I did it twice over the winter when we were running around the muddy football field which isn't anywhere near as pretty I'm told.

postmanpatscat · 30/05/2014 10:14

Morning all!

Heading out in a minute to add to our total. Might parkrun tomorrow, but DP will be away and we're leaving the house at 6am to drop him at the station! We've just noticed that the 10k in three weeks time, which is in the same place as our parkrun, is on a date we probably can't do. If he goes away, he has to be on a flight that leaves Heathrow at 2.15 and standing in Osterley Park at 11.30 in your running gear having just finished a 10k is not really going to help, even if we are only 20 minutes away from the airport. Good job I hadn't got around to signing us up yet or we might have been £34 worse off.

My plan is an hour-long run now, maybe parkrun tomorrow, then nice long run (probably another half-marathon) on Sunday morning. It won't get us to 1500, but we should still be very proud of ourselves!

feetheart · 30/05/2014 10:18

postmanpatscat - whatever we make it to this month we have a target to beat for June :)

Mitchy1nge · 30/05/2014 10:24

I'll have no more than 6 to add because . . . The Plan. Am not deviating from it.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/05/2014 10:31

feet you are on! Blathers and lego need to come too, and Eau and fish* - there are lots of us around in this neck of the woods.

I will try to get out for a bit later today, but it is looking very dark and stormy Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/05/2014 10:32

Plans are good Mitchy

Standingonlego · 30/05/2014 10:41

A new cafe you say...well if there will be Cake and Brew then i will definately be there! It will be great to see everyone.

DSs and DH are on a boys day out today so hoping to escape from work at a decent time for a cheeky long run before they get home to cause havoc :) Parkrun tomorrow is looking like a no go as DH off to Twickenham for the big rugby game...

BetsyBell · 30/05/2014 10:44

Argh, still no more running from me this week. I've had aching legs all week so that coupled with rain and sick half-term kids has put the kibosh on any more running for me.

I've only been a 5k runner up to now but I've decided to 'level up' and I'm entering a 10k for September.

As added incentive I am making it my next 'fitness challenge' for grading purposes at my Tae Kwon Do club - I find this is the best motivator for me.

I didn't know they did a race at Whipsnade - what a beautiful run that will be.

postmanpatscat · 30/05/2014 12:35

betsy hope you get out there soon. You'll have no problem with 10k.

7.5 miles in 75 mins to add from me, was 1252.7 so now 1260.2 It tried to drizzle so I probably looked a bit of a prat with my sunglasses on.
