mitchy I have been doing Body Attack once a week which has been great, it is quite "interval" ish so think helped with my speed. Also try to do a gym weights session to build up strength (do not always succeed).

Fallen off the wagon a little recently due to injury but looking forward to starting again on Monday when kids are back at school.

I think a little bit of anything else alongside the miles is useful, and mixing up the running a bit too (different distances, pace, routes) is fun.

Obviously I do not take my own advice at all times :)

emummy · 28/05/2014 10:34

1194.2
Nice 30 min progression run this morning, managed it better, think am getting back to normal now.
On non- running days I walk and do an outdoor boot camp once. Week, but always have one day where I do nothing ( and eat lots of crisps!)

Mitchy1nge · 28/05/2014 10:53

I don't feel like doing weights after tackling flooded stables for about the 400th time, soaked shavings are unbelievably heavy. I do exercise other than running but it's hard not to run when you really badly want to run. There's just something about propelling yourself along in that way!

Cycling is probably the next best thing, or walking? Just wondered how you deal with being so fidgety.

orangeflutie · 28/05/2014 13:41

I'm fidgety today because I can't go out and run this minute. I've 3 lively/moody (it changes all the time) dds who have been in too much this half term due to the weather. Hmm I worked for a few hours this morning and have arranged to meet a friend this afternoon with her dd. Weather is shite though so will be stuck indoorsHmm Just feeling down cos I can't just go out now for a run which would make me feel better! Will have to hope I can fit one in this evening ...
Sorry for rant just a bit fed up with trying to keep everyone else happy. It's always a juggle in school hols.

briteside · 28/05/2014 13:42

Hello, just checking in after a long weekend camping and no running but lots of eating and red wine

I also chickened out of running in lunchtime today as it is pouring with rain. I HAVE to run tomorrow...

Some great runs and great times on the thread. Well done all of you!

vladthedisorganised · 28/05/2014 14:30

1199.2 - a nice round 5 miles of intervals this lunchtime, hard work but felt great afterwards. I love drizzly rain!

Much sympathy orange - I got so frustrated with not being able to run at the weekend (DD's friends' birthday parties, stuck indoors because of bad weather, lots of standing around) and it drove me mad. It will be so nice when our DDs can run with us, don't you think?

Morrigu · 28/05/2014 15:00

1202.4. My first run in a week since the extractions. Hurrah! Was quite hard which wasn't so good and it's very windy and sunny here so my hay fever was going daft and eyes were streaming. Just have to remind myself it may take a day or two to get back into the swing of it.

I know exactly how you feel orange. I get restless and fed up when I don't get time for me and all I want to do is go for a run to clear my head. If I'm honest I'm dreading the summer holidays a little bit as I'm going to have to rely on other people lots to get time to exercise (if they can do it or not is another matter)

Non running days I walk a lot but that's not unusual for me as I've always walked everywhere. I do strengthening and core exercises in the house 2/3 times a week. Unfortunately there is no mission of me finding time to do classes unless our gym starts a crèche.

fingersonbuzzers · 28/05/2014 16:06

Hi all, having trouble keeping up.

A quick 5k interval run from me today taking us to 1205.5

desertbaby · 28/05/2014 19:11

I feel like a fraud adding on my miles as I've only just found you all again but I've finally caught up- again!

I'd like to add 10 miles so that is 1215.5

postmanpatscat · 28/05/2014 19:22

If I don't run, it's usually because I can't be bothered and I don't get itchy feet at all!

However, I did get out this evening, since it has actually stopped raining for more than a few minutes, and have 6.5 miles to add making 1222 miles. We've got a lot to do to reach 1500 by Sunday! Maybe I was being a bit over-ambitious there...

Blatherskite · 28/05/2014 21:06

No running for me this week :( Was out doing birthday stuff last night and now DH is away until Friday night leaving me at home with 2 children during half term!

I have never looked forward to parkrun so much!

orangeflutie · 28/05/2014 21:22

Hi again I got out for a nice wet run this evening yay! Feel much betterSmile
Thanks for the words of comfort I was in a grump earlier.

Mitchy I hope you've not been flooded again.

Blathers hang on in there only 2 more days to go.

orangeflutie · 28/05/2014 21:42

Forgot to say 4.47 to add to total.

postmanpatscat · 29/05/2014 11:27

Rounding up to 1226.5 (I'll run the 0.03 on my next one!)

AmberNectarine · 29/05/2014 14:24

1230 - checking in with a 3.5 mile slog from Lanzarote. Sweltering and hilly!

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 15:57

My Whipsnade run number has arrived! Has anyone else got theirs?

I didn't realise that a load of my running club were doing it too so there may be a sea of green vests :)

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 29/05/2014 16:00

Yes, mine came this morning blathers!

Not that I have managed to run at all this week, bloody half term.

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 16:01

ooh, and I've been told that it's a lovely, flat course with loads of PB potential. All I'm missing is a 10k PB to complete the set this year! Really excited now :)

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 16:01

No running here either. 2 small kids off school and a DH away all week for work mean I've had no chance Sad

Standingonlego · 29/05/2014 16:14

Our stampede numbers have arrived as well!!! But no confirmation of what time the run starts in the pack! But there were safety pins which was an unexpected bonus :)

Blatherskite · 29/05/2014 16:26

Yes, I was wondering what was in the little envelope and was surprised to find pins.

I'll add them to the first aid kit as I use Fix Points for my numbers so I don't make holes in my running tops.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/05/2014 16:43

Well done AmberNectarine!!!

Making me jealous now! Didn't manage to talk to dh last night either but I think it's a bit pricey. We have dss so it'll be my race entry plus and adult and 3 dc tickets to get in. Will raise it but I think I know the answer. Unless I pay for my ticket and use Clubcard vouchers for the rest Hmm

Do you have a sled blatherskite? Chuck them in there and pull them along, some endurance work for you Wink

briteside · 29/05/2014 16:43

Hello all! I finally found the motivation to do a run...I feel so much better for it and am now planning my runs for the weekend (Parkrun on Saturday and a long run on Sunday?). I ran Hyde park with a friend - we were checking out the Pru Health Triathlon cycle & run routes for her triathlon on Sunday, so it was a little stop/start as we consulted her map. It was still a respectable 6.75km so our total is now: 1234 miles Grin

I also treated myself to a foam roller, it was on special at Runners Need. Does anyone else have one? Any tips or hints? I have been using it as a footrest discretely under my desk at work, which feels lovely!

originalpiratematerial · 29/05/2014 17:36

1240.2 now as I just did six miles, lovely run up here in cloudy cool Yorkshire!

originalpiratematerial · 29/05/2014 17:48

Ooh and I've just realised that was a PB for 10k - 01:04:53. Very pleased!
