That sounds like a great idea KickGrin

Fizbo · 08/05/2014 10:36

Sorry to hear of other injuries. I managed level2 2 of Ri30 on Tuesday with 1 kg weights. Had a rest day yesterday and still feeling ok, so will do level 2 again later today. Think I just over did it.
Can anyone recommend a majority cardio based work out I could try along side Ri30. It would have to be something for a beginner as I'm still very unfit!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 11:04

Just done my 6W6P L1 for the 4th time - all fine except for the final side plank on one extended arm which was still giving me that twinge (and also I find side planks hard) - so I did the side plank on elbow crunch thingys from shred instead. Apart from that one.... TBH I don't think it's doing that much for me - after shred, ripped and NMTZ it's a bit meh. I think I'll try L2 next week, see what I think of that, if I don't like it prob go back to NMTZ or maybe another round of Ri30. (still got the KB&T and extreme shred and shed lurking... don't seem to hear of anyone doing the latter, is there a reason?)

Also did a bit of extra HIIT - ran upstairs and then did manic jumping skipping or running on the spot to 'no more' point, break, repeat x4. Extra leg work at the end - some ATG squats, 'round the clock' lunges and some surrenders (with no weight)

Fizbo - I don't know of a specific cardio DVD, but most opinion nowadays is that for maximum fitness/fat burn advantage, you want to think in terms of HIIT/tabata style rather than long moderate-intensity steady-state sessions. If you google you can probably work out something for yourself (see above).

spinning - well done, glad that worked out.

IdkickJilliansAss · 08/05/2014 12:44

Blast fat Boost metabolism is a good mainly cardio and tou can pick and choose which circuits you do. Cardio blast done with minimal toddler interference! Dont think i'll be Jillianing today as I have a circuits class tonight but i'm gearing up to do the hour long Bib Harper cardio tomorrow, eek

I haven't posted for a while but just re read the thread for inspiration. I've completed 30 day shred level one. I enjoyed it. About to start level 2 once I've got my trainers on. I'll report back Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 09/05/2014 13:23

Anyone thinking of getting Shred it with Weights ? I sort of feel I ought to do more with the DVDs I've got, but I think this one may suit me.... guess I'll wait for a few reviews.

Did my 5th day of 6w6p L1 - all ok today except the final side planks esp on one side (but I managed a few). Plus some extra free weights.

knottyhair · 09/05/2014 14:55

Errol, I've pre-ordered it (due to be released in UK on 12th May) - my kettle bells are ready & waiting - I'll let you know how it goes! Still no JM here for me, my shoulder feels a bit better but still niggly. Was going to do YM today but decided all the sun salutation stuff wouldn't help. Got my training walk tomorrow so don't want to chance making it worse and not being able to carry my backpack. Rest day after walk on Sunday, Monday I have 4.5 mile walk to Music Bugs with DD, hopefully back to it on Tuesday with a Ripped.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/05/2014 15:07

Hope the walk goes well - by 'training walk', does that mean you're training for something even longer? Hope you're somewhere with OK weather... my DD is doing her bronze DofE practice this weekend, it's looking less than great hereabouts.

knottyhair · 09/05/2014 18:13

I'm doing 20 miles tomorrow in preparation for the same distance pink ribbon walk in a few weeks. Hope your DD gets on OK in the awful weather - heavy rain forecast here too! But I guess it might rain on the actual day so not much point me not doing it!

IdkickJilliansAss · 09/05/2014 18:38

Knotty! I've done the hour long Bob Harper workout, ouch! You were right about him 'just wanting'...I shouted at him, a lot! I must say there were points when I wanted to jack it in but am pleased to say I stuck in there and finished; I found the countdown timer a really helpful feature and the fact that his 'helpers' struggled too.

Just done RI30 L3 not a fan! Felt like she was running out of ideas. Apart from L1 not keen on the DVD. :-(

Might go back to 30 day shred.

Is NMTFZ same format?

LindtSeventyPercent · 09/05/2014 21:47

I've still done NOTHING!

My shoulder's playing up again (old injury after falling down the stairs last July and my right arm got trapped behind me).

However, my shoulder's only part of the problem. I've had lots of work on, so not as much time as I had at the start of the year. But the main thing is ... I actually feel scared of it all again. It's ridiculous. I used to get so out of breath and sweaty and I'm worried I won't be able to cope.

I'm very annoyed with myself because for months I was managing to follow Jillian 5 times a week.

Haven't dared weigh myself. I know I haven't put my inches back on yet as clothes still feel comfortable.

For some reason I wanted to 'check in' with you all, even though I have nothing positive to say.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/05/2014 22:15

lindt - sorry about your shoulder and too much work. It's really not that long since I last remember you doing JM, so I'm sure you'll be fine fitness wise - I had the whole xmas break off and then back to it no problems. Maybe you could start doing bits that don't involve the shoulder - I know thats hard with so much plank, but there's quite a lot of legwork and abs.

theonly - I wasn't too keen on Ri30 the first time, went back to shred - but then when I did Ri30 again I enjoyed it. I also liked NMTZ - it is a different format - 7 circuits focusing on different areas so you can either do the whole lot or pick and choose. The whole thing is about 40 mins.

knotty - yes ...hopefully the real thing will be nicer for you and her. Fortunately she is not scared of mud (her volunteering involved a lot of digging) or cold and wet (she's into watersports) so she'll probably cope pretty well.

knottyhair · 10/05/2014 05:58

Errol, your DD sounds amazing and will cope with the weather much better than me limping along whimpering with rain dripping off my hood. Lindt, really hope your shoulder improves soon. It's always hard to get back into it when you've had a break but once you've done something once, you'll be off! Can't think off the top of my head of what would be OK to do with your shoulder - maybe Killer Buns?? Or BFBM?
Idkick, well done! It's hard isn't it? I'd recommend the other Bobs I've got if you fancy them - Pure Strength, Ripped Core and Yoga for the Warrior - I think you can get them on YouTube actually.

spinningirl10 · 10/05/2014 09:38

Errol, good luck to your dd in her walk today and also good luck Knotty, hope the weather is kind to you!

Lindt, good to see you. Sorry to hear you've hurt your shoulder. I'm sure you'll be back to it soon enough. Maybe pick something you enjoy to start with or only do half of it to ease in gently.

Ooh I'm going to do Bob Harper on the sky channel when my knees ok. It actually feels ok today so fx I'll be able to get back to it on Tuesday after my break.

IdkickJilliansAss · 10/05/2014 12:59

Lindt it's always nice to hear from you, just slowly ease back in to it I used to go for really long walks when I felt put off by all other exercise. Sorry to hear about your shoulder, that must have been a scary fall.

Knotty yes it was hard but I felt really pleased after so I'll definitely check out his other stuff

I've done 40 minutes of Blast Belly Fat (hate that name, sounds yuk)

spinning I can imagine you doing Bob

Finally back to it this week after a few weeks off Smile. L2 Killer on Wednesday, L3 Shred Thursday and L2 6w6p this morning. Mostly using my 4kg and dropping down when I can't cope!

Hello to all the new people, glad to see more Jillian fans. Sorry to hear of injuries.

Would be really interested to hear about shred it with weights. If I'm going to try kettlebells though I might try the DVD that was linked to above (can't remember who sorry) first and wait for the JM one to drop in price Smile.

LindtSeventyPercent · 10/05/2014 21:00

You're all so lovely. I really want to get back into it but keep thinking I've blown it and am back to square. You're helping me think of it as more of a blip. Perhaps next week will be the week. I'll keep you updated.

Just googled Bob Harper. Definitely not ready for that! Shock

EarSlaps · 10/05/2014 23:29

Maybe try Killer Lindt? Any plank bits you could just do squats? You will get better, just give it time. I still struggle with a dodgy wrist sometimes but I've worked out ways to get around it.

Theonlyoneiknow · 11/05/2014 08:47

Can someone remind me what the recommended kettlebell DVD was? Thanks!

EarSlaps · 11/05/2014 09:19

It was this one

EarSlaps · 11/05/2014 09:21

Actually- quick question on the kettlebell DVD- could you do the exercises with a dumbell so you can try them out before investing in kettlebells?

StuntNun · 11/05/2014 09:52

Not really EarSlaps the DVD has specific kettlebell exercises. I believe the JM kettlebell DVD can be done with a dumbbell.

spinningirl10 · 11/05/2014 10:41

Haha KickGrin

I've got the kettlebell dvd but not tried it yet as when I watched it through I thought I really need a kettlebell rather than a dumbbell.
