I quite fancy giving Neilsons a go bit haven't managed to persuade DH yet! We are off to Italy for 2 weeks in mud August. Dd goes to PGL for a week on Saturday and is v excited. I won't know what to do with the spare time in the evenings (am working during the day) but have decided I am going to try a few classes at a new local gym that I would never usually be able to go to (as DH works away so no one at home execpt me.)

ErrolTheDragon · 31/07/2014 12:40

What's your DH into, not?
Mine is starting to go off Neilson, unfortunately - he's got some health issues which mean he's not got as much stamina as he used to, and we're going to the same resort as last year which he didn't like much but it's got the right combination of winds for what DD wants to do. DH is getting to the stage of fancying trying yachts rather than dinghies/windsurfing, but it's too hot for us in school summer hols to be without air conditioning, so that will have to wait another couple of years till DD has finished school.

It's a bit weird being sans kid if you send them to camp/school residential, isn't it? But make the most of it - have some quality 'you' time, while they're off having a blast.

spinningirl10 · 31/07/2014 13:56

Not, where are you off to in Italy?

Errol, enjoy your holiday. I haven't heard of that, I shall have to google but it sounds like funGrin

spinningirl10 · 31/07/2014 13:57

Oops meant to say I've been for a bike ride for 1 1/2 hours.

notyummy · 31/07/2014 16:55

We are off to Salo on Lake Garda- can't wait!

DH isn't too keen on the accommodation and food options that come with Neilson and similar- ie unless you pay an utter fortune you are all in the same room- and nearly FB means harder to wonder into town and try different restaurants. We try to get a balance between having space and cost so wouldn't run to our own villa in peak holiday period for example (plus wouldn't want to be too isolated so other children around for dd.) at the moment we do chalets on small holiday parks so a couple of bedrooms and some other families around. We tend to self cater for breakfast and lunch and eat out for dinner. DH loves it.

Sounds lovely. We are going to Charmouth for a week on Saturday so wish is some good weather! 1&1/2 hours swimming with the girls, MFP even calculates 'treading water light effort' then L1&2 of extreme S&S, I managed it with the 5kgs but they arent part of my set and are very bulky and annoying

Lake Garda is lovely - we had our first foreign holiday together after getting married there.

We'd prefer villa-type accommodation and more flexibility on meals too - the Sunsail places used to be more like that but they don't exist now unfortunately. If anyone knows somewhere that has simpler accommodation but excellent sailing and windsurfing (with RYA tuition and standards), with kids/teens club, that's what we'd really like. We don't do the land-based activities (too hot!). I think there's a gap in the market at the moment.

marialuisa · 01/08/2014 09:36

Can I pick your brains? I started exercising to tone up and have worked my way through a few of Jillian's workouts with pleasing results. NMTZ and Killer Buns work best for me as it's my bum and thighs that need attention, abs have always been pretty good. 6w6p and BFBM did nothing for me, if anything set backside toning back. So which, if any of the other workouts would be good? I'd prefer minimal plyo as have dodgy ankles from breaks. Youtube seems to have deleted quite a bit of Jillian's stuff so can't watch clips. Thanks.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/08/2014 13:29

I think you may have got the best two there already (though I've not tried SIWW yet, or extreme shred and shed). I didn't find 6w6p good either, and don't fancy BFBM - doesn't sound like what I want. I do like both 30ds and Ri30 too, as good all-round workouts too - 30ds dvd is only a fiver, if level 1 isn't still available on youtube.

notyummy · 01/08/2014 14:48

Extreme shed and shred may be worth a try? Not much plyo from memory and a fair bit for lower body.

notyummy · 01/08/2014 14:51

There's also Bob Harper- 'Bobs Workout'- 2x 30 mins workouts. The first one in particular is lower body focussed although quite a lot in both. It's a step up from JM bit not quite Insanity levels!

marialuisa · 01/08/2014 15:32

Thanks, will check those out.

notyummy · 01/08/2014 15:48

Did just one level of bobs workout last night as I felt really drained and couldn't face doing both. Then did his yoga this morning. Plan to do Pure Strength tomorrow (wish me luck...) and a rest day on Sunday.

IdkickJilliansAss · 01/08/2014 17:34

I've done my martial arts DVD and really went for it in preparation for holiday, I will take something with me but don't know how much I'll get done with all the kids etc (none I think!) but we'll see, if not I'll just do a lot of swimming and coastal walking with them and enjoy the break Smile See you all when I get back!

Ri30 L3 done Grin

Notyummy, that will be lovely. We didn't get as far as the lakes. Will have to return another day!

Kick, enjoy your holiday, hope the sun shines for youGrin

EarSlaps · 01/08/2014 23:27

Thought I'd check back in. Still doing exercise but not doing Jillian so much. It's been a very busy month with lots of birthdays and lots of visitors so I haven't really had much time to exercise either.

Have been going to my kettle bell classes I'm really enjoying them and I can feel I'm getting a lot stronger. I'm still trying to do JM DVDs once or twice a week plus the kettle bell workout once or twice a week. Glad to see you all keeping up the good work too.

notyummy · 03/08/2014 11:37

Hi all. Ended doing a cross trainer session yesterday so today I WILL do Pure Strength. The only problem may be a large cut I have on my thumb (really big and deep.) I currently have it taped up with a pad etc and am slightly concerned I won't be able to use weights properly!

notyummy · 03/08/2014 14:56

I did it! Phew. Glad that's over. On a couple of moves I could feel the reduced grip- passing weight between legs, those horrendous push ups and t stands- and also the over head pull down things when you are 'throwing' the weight like a med ball.

Just some callentics tomorrow and maybe a new class at the gym on Tuesday. Not sure whether to try meta fit, fat burner or BLT. Anyone tried metafit?

Jacksterbear · 03/08/2014 16:57

Ouch re the thumb injury notyummy but well done for carrying on regardless! Never been a gym member so no idea which class would be good.

Been away this week, and have done 4x Shaun T sessions - easier than JM to take on hols, as there is quite a good cardio/strength mix but without weights (eg lots of push-up/plank stuff, squats and lunges). Quite pleased with myself!

Also quite pleasing to watch DH try a T25 for the first time and really struggle (he is quite fit - cycling, mainly - and can easily outdo me in running - but I am the queen of the exercise DVD! Grin).

spinningirl10 · 04/08/2014 20:25

Hi all,

I've been really busy in the garden, still humming gravel around! Really want to get it turfed before the end of summer!
Going to get up early tomorrow and do some JM.

Notyummy, hope your thumb is better

StuntNun · 04/08/2014 21:48

Ri30 L1D4 done after another huge break due to the amazing non-sleeping toddler. Still I got him knocked out at 8:20 this evening so once the other two were in bed I had a bit of me time with JM. Grin

Jacksterbear · 05/08/2014 18:18

spinning did u manage your early morning JM?

stunt well done for getting back on it, and may I join the non-sleeping-DCs club?! Grin

L1 KB&T done today for first time in ages. I can really feel the difference in the strength of my legs, range of motion etc, from when I first started.

spinningirl10 · 05/08/2014 20:11

Ah Jackster I didn't!!! I set my alarm for 6 and fell asleep again, woke up at 6.45 and had to leave for work at 7.45 so no time! However I have spent all afternoon in the garden shifting more gravel. Definitely good exercise but I really want to get back to JM and BH.....maybe tomorrowGrin

Jacksterbear · 05/08/2014 23:57

Ahh spinning never mind, well done for the gardening, expect to hear reports of JM/BH done tomorrow though! Grin
