I was not a pretty picture afterwards! That's a brilliant idea Smile My toddler went into the conservatory first thing this morning and came belting out in about 5 seconds and I thought of you Grin

Our conservatory is generally ok in the summer until about 10am for exercise- as long as doors and windows are open. Anything after that is a trial.

notyummy · 20/07/2014 16:49

Well we managed Bobs Cardio Rev in the conservatory yesterday morning but god it was hard! Really humid and I nearly gave up halfway through. This morning we did 6W6P L1- dd's birthday party and sleepover last night meant that neither of us got much sleep so we weren't really up for a challenge!!

Day off tomorrow.

IdkickJilliansAss · 20/07/2014 19:04

That is hardcore, I went out out last night and didnt get back until 3.30, DH went to work at 5.30 so I had to get up with the DC's totally hanging today was planning on some gentle pilates but DS is regusing to sleep so today maybe my rest day

IfYouCouldSeeMeNow · 20/07/2014 20:20

I've been doing the Extreme shred, but I'm not sure I'm seeing any results. I still have a horrific stomach, and my holiday is in a month!

I tried level one of killer abs today. Ouch. I'm hoping it makes a difference, though!

Appliedapple · 21/07/2014 13:58

(Delurking specifically for this thread! Hi!) Am doing 30ds (halfway through level 1), but I don't want to do it every day as I want to let muscles recover a bit. So, thinking a yoga version would be a nice gentle rest day session, I tried Yoga Meltdown. Ha! I felt like I really was melting - properly dripping with sweat! Way harder than the Shred! So yeah, something I might move onto when I've worked my way through the Shred levels...

IdkickJilliansAss · 21/07/2014 14:34

Hi Apple and Ifyou Smile I find Bob Harpers ripped core really good for ABs, havent tried Killer Abs (its part of a box set I have to wait until my birthday for, I realise that makes me sound 5!)

L1&2 of ES&S done to make up for a heavy drinking session Saturday night Grin

OP posts:
IfYouCouldSeeMeNow · 21/07/2014 17:22

How you finding ES&S, IdKick? I didn't realise how used to that I'd got until I tried killer abs!

Tonight I'm planning on a five minute jog and level 1 of killer abs again. I don't think I could run any further but I'm hoping it'll boost my cardio and get rid of my muffin top.

Only a month til holiday, I was so confident that I'd be okay for a bikini :(

Appliedapple · 21/07/2014 17:25

Hi Idkick! Lol at Killer Abs being a birthday treat! That's the genius of Jillian - she makes us actually look forward to pushing ourselves even further Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 21/07/2014 19:35

Grin I dont really stick to a pattern of any one DVD (did do the 30 day shred though) I have quite a few of them and alternate, if I do the extrem s&s I try to do both levels at once if I have time but for a real cardio boost I use Blast Fat Boost metabolism by Jillian or Shaun T Core Speed. Dont be disheartened Ifyou a month is still a while, how is your diet?

OP posts:
Appliedapple · 21/07/2014 21:23

Yeah, my plan is to use the 30ds to build up a basic level of fitness after years of being a lazy arse and then ramp it up with the rest of her "oeuvre". I want to get to the stage where I do a workout every day and it's just a normal part of my routine.

Don't give up Ifyou - you can do a lot in a month.

IdkickJilliansAss · 21/07/2014 21:32

Thats what I did Applied When I first started I tried Extreme Shed and Shred and hated it because it was too hard but slowly but surely built up to it

OP posts:
StuntNun · 21/07/2014 21:38

Ri30 L1D1 done. I was away from it for so long I thought I'd better start again as all the muscle has turned back into flab.

IdkickJilliansAss · 21/07/2014 22:04

Well done Stunt we missed you!

catinbootz · 22/07/2014 08:46

Hi I've lurked here for a while as a former shredder.

I've just started doing shred with weights as am desperate to get my fitness and strength back this summer.

Reading for inspiration re other workouts as I get bored easily. I've been looking at Bob this morning Grin

notyummy · 22/07/2014 08:58

Welcome back to the fold catinbootz and stunt. Would thoroughly recommend Bob though not an easy option . Am planning to do 'BobsWorkout this morning!

StuntNun · 22/07/2014 09:33

Thanks for the welcomes and hi to Cat my fellow crazy eater on the egg fast!

DH took my new 'before' photos yesterday. I'm looking forward to seeing a big difference by the end of the summer. I have a Bob Harper kettlebell workout but I don't think I'm quite there yet. I have five pounds to lose by the end of the summer then I'm going to start weight training and hopefully get back into Pilates again to work on my flexibility.

WeDONTneedanotherhero · 22/07/2014 11:03

I'm wondering do all of you do additional exercise on top of JM dvds to see the weight loss/body changes, or is it just JM?

IfYouCouldSeeMeNow · 22/07/2014 11:16

Usually I just do JM, but yesterday I went for a run.

I made about six minutes of actual running, in 2 minute bursts with a break in between.

Pretty terrible, but I have fibromyalgia and arthritis, so I'm surprised i could run at all! Tonight I'll do JM again.

Thanks for the encouragement!

IdkickJilliansAss · 22/07/2014 11:30

I do a couple of circuit classes a week too WeDONT and I have just ordered another DVD called Fight FX 14.1 which is supposed to be great for stripping and toning. I have got a new job starting in the summer and have had to buy new work clothes as the old ones are too big, I ordered a size 8 pair from next and they are a bit roomy, considering I was squiding into a 12 in January this is great stuff. Wow IfYou that really is something to be proud of and quite inspiring really Smile

wedont- I have a job with a long commute (I work 4 days a week) plus often extra hours required at home evening and weekends. DH is in the military and is home probably 6/7 days a month at most. Because of this I can't get to a gym- no way the cost would be worth while as I would be able to go at best once a week. DVDs do it for me, but you do obviously need to push yourself! I do a mixture of JM and Bob, plus sometimes if time I will do an additional 15/20 mins of less high impact stuff (callentics/Tracey Anderson) whilst watching tv in the evening. I tend to aim for 6 days a week, although don't always manage to fit that in! Generally 3/4 short workouts (30 mins or less) and 2/3 45-60 min workouts a week. Am in my mid 40s and 5ft 10 and generally maintain the 'right' weight for me with this routine whilst eating what I want. I tend to go on body fat and how my clothes feel rather than weight- am a 10. I find if I go through a social period and drink more alcohol and eat more snacks than usual then now I am in my 40s I do notice the difference! So I am just a bit more careful with my diet for a week or so if that is the case.

I think the key is to keep challenging yourself. So once you feel you can start to do something reasonably easily then up the weights. Having some heavier weights is important to making some of the JM exercises really effectively. 1/2/3 kg will only get you so far.

Appliedapple · 22/07/2014 12:54

Pre-breakfast 30ds L1D6 this morning. Would usually at least have a coffee first (as recommended upthread somewhere) - but had run out (argh!). Tough, but got through - no phoning it in!

Ifyou that is fab - sounds like you are really going for it! And that's amazing progress Idkick - hope that will be me in a few months' time Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 22/07/2014 13:43

It will be applied Smile

I dont go to the gym but a personal trainer mum holds classes a couple of times a week, saying that though i've been doing them for a couple of years now and it wasnt until I ramped it up with the dvds and watching what I eat a bit more that I saw results Grin

Jacksterbear · 22/07/2014 21:55

idkick that's great re the clothes sizing, well done.

I only do DVDs. Don't really have the time or funds for the gym as have 2 DC, one with SNs (who has only just settled to sleep!). I used to run, but it started really hurting my knees so I stopped.

Agree with notyummy, you need to keep pushing yourself (although I'm still at the stage where 3kgs is pretty challenging!). I never thought I would be able to do 30 seconds of proper push ups but now I can!

L1 ripped done today. It was a real sweat fest in this heat!
