Evening all. Been away for weekend and have eaten and drunk lots but seem to have got away without any weight gain phew. Did manage to fit in a Ripped L2 with 3kgs in Friday before leaving. (The 3kgs were ok in the actual bits with weights, but did make all the plank/push-up stuff burn the old shoulders all the more!)

Good to see you notyummy. Like the sound of that shorter Bob DVD; and also that JM box-set, knotty.

knottyhair · 23/06/2014 05:34

Did Jillian's Hard Body L1 yesterday morning - quite liked it! Not sure that the DJ adds anything.... But it's like 6W6P in format, you do 6 circuits once through, then repeat the whole thing. Some moves quite easy, some still tough, for me anyway! It was only L1 though. Will try to give L2 a go next weekend (45 mins long so I can't fit it in on a weekday). My new Bob one arrived yesterday, going to attempt L1 shortly... can't believe notyummy did BOTH levels.

spinningirl10 · 23/06/2014 09:18

Knotty, the dj sounds interesting! Which Bob one have you bought?

I've done Ri30 L3 this morningGrin

notyummy · 23/06/2014 09:45

I thinks it's 'Bobs Workout' Spinning because it is two 25 min workouts so for those short of time it is accessible.
My thighs are feeling the pain today having done Bobs one hour Cardio Rev on Friday, 45 hard cross trainer programme in Sat and then the two Bobs Workouts back to back yesterday. Supposed to be doing something this evening whilst dd at brownies Torn between either an Extreme Shed and Shred or Bobs Yoga.

IdkickJilliansAss · 23/06/2014 13:43

The levels complement each other if you have the time Knotty Smile

Wow! notyummy and Idkick, inspirational stuff!

Snap, spinning - L3 Ripped this a.m. Ouch on the quads and triceps (although considering I couldn't actually get through all the moves when I first tried the workout, grunting and sweating my way through it is a big improvement Grin).

knottyhair · 23/06/2014 14:38

Spinning, notyummy is right, it's part of his Inside Out Method but called Bob's Workout. No countdown timer on this one Sad but comes in at around 25 min so perfect for me. I found it quite tough (as I always do with Bob!) but I liked it - notyummy, those bloody jumping runner's stretch wotnames, gordon bennett! Mind you, you're much fitter than me so I can imagine you breezing through it Grin!

IdkickJilliansAss · 23/06/2014 15:19

Gordon Bennett! I havent heard that expression in ages, that really made me smile Knotty

OP posts:
spinningirl10 · 23/06/2014 16:06

Thanks knotty and notyummy, I'll take a look....not that I need more exercise dvds, but I do like Bob and don't always have enough enough time for the hour cardio one.

knottyhair · 23/06/2014 16:14

Go for it spinning, you know you want to.... Idkick, that saying was a constant in my childhood. In fact, we still refer to chicken as "gordon bennett", due to the fact that my mum would cook it so much. We would say it whenever Mum said it was chicken for tea again. It then got to the point where we would ask what's for tea and Mum would testily say "gordon bennett!" Smile.

spinningirl10 · 23/06/2014 16:17

Haha Knotty, it's orderedGrin Amazon make it too easy!

I haven't heard Gordon Bennett for ages, I won't tell my family your chicken story.....we eat loads of chickenGrin

notyummy · 23/06/2014 18:10

I did not find it easy knotty! Although found the second easier than first. Maybe if I had used lighter weights for the weighted bit in the first I wouldn't have been so bright red by the end. Was using 7.5kg for the swings and those rows with your legs up. That's another thing- the higher your les are, the harder that row exercise is, and the only thing I have in my conservatory that I think is string enough is quite higher which makes it really though!

notyummy · 23/06/2014 18:11

Even more typos than usual there- sorry!

IdkickJilliansAss · 23/06/2014 20:13

I still find Bob Harpers legs very distracting as the are a bit scrawny!

I tried the yoga meltdown today, it moved way to fast for me Sad

IdkickJilliansAss · 23/06/2014 21:45

It's frustrating when that happens Anya

Is yoga inferno much faster than yoga blast?

Did yoga blast level 2 tonight. Current fav JM workout as feel great after it.

AnyaKnowIt · 23/06/2014 21:51

Oohdaddypig, please tell me your yoga secrets

oohdaddypig · 23/06/2014 22:32

anya Blush I have none. I am very inflexible - by nature and from years of running. But I started yoga ten years ago and have slowly improved to the point where I find it the most beneficial exercise for me.

But I think if I was completely new to it I would find JM yoga a - mm - challenge!

Are you not enjoying it?

AnyaKnowIt · 23/06/2014 22:41

No, I'm completely baffled by it. Never done yoga before.

By the time I've nearly figured out what I should be doing, she has moved on to something else. Just can't keep up

knottyhair · 24/06/2014 06:40

Anya, I don't think Jillian is a good place to start with yoga! I love YM (have yet to try my Yoga Inferno), but the fact that she moves quickly in and out of the moves isn't good if you've never done it before. Very frustrating for you though.
Just done Bob's workout, the second one, and I thought it was a bit bizarre! Fine up until about 20 mins then Zak appears to need a break (not convinced how genuine that is!) so there's a lot of hanging around whilst Bob tries to motivate him to carry on - I ended up doing jumping jacks to fill in the time. Also some of the moves were quite awkward without a bench, and I need heavier weights for the deadlifts and bicep stuff. Still tough though, it just seemed to fizzle out.

oohdaddypig · 24/06/2014 06:58

anya I agree. I think I would try a yoga class first - or even a beginners' yoga DVD, to get the basics. Most of JM's yoga is based on classic yoga moves, so easy to follow once you have done it a few times.

If it cheers you up, I first tried yoga 15 years ago when v young and the teacher sniggered, I was that bad (charming). That put me off! I then suffered a lot of sports injuries and forced myself into very basic yoga 5 years later with a lovely teacher who saw yoga as being for everyone and which could be adapted for anyone.

Yoga has honestly transformed my body - perhaps not visually, like JM, but my posture and flexibility are now normal. When I started I was the "fittest" in the class yet so stiff I was becoming constantly injured.

Long boring self obsessed post - but hope it helps. Annoyingly , I just gave my very early yoga DVDs away or I would have given them to you!

notyummy · 24/06/2014 07:43

Yes I know what you mean about Zak wimping out on that second workout Knotty! Now I've done it a couple of times I just carry on doing the exercise he should be doing (which makes it hard as you end up doing loads whilst he gets his breathe back!) I use a chair as I don't have a bench and the only thing it doesn't quite work for is the chest presses that I do on the ground. I use a mixture of 7.5 and 5kg which I can def feel working. Those plyo press ups are evil- can feel them the next day!

spinningirl10 · 24/06/2014 09:21

Ri30 L4 done Grin

I agree with the yoga, I love JMs yoga meltdown but I did do some yoga years ago. I would try a basic yoga dvd until you get the hang of it. There's lots on Amazon and you can read the reviews to see what suits youGrin

AnyaKnowIt · 24/06/2014 09:53

Thanks everyone

I'll have a look for another Dvd!
