Ok. I'm new (in this thread). I ordered Ripped in 30 yesterday. I consider myself fit - run or gym most days, one HIIT workout each week. But what have I let myself in for? Is it going to hurt? Will i really change my body shape in just 30 days? And dd1 who's nearly 14 says she wants to do it with me - is it suitable for someone of her age (she's generally very fit and well toned anyway)?

spinningirl10 · 24/06/2014 14:43

Hi turningviolet and welcomeGrin

You may not see such dramatic results as some people as you are already fit. I found that JM helped with my running, I'm not a great runner more of a plodderGrin you should see a difference in upper body. If your dd wants to join you I say go for it!!

notyummy · 24/06/2014 14:44

I think you should be fine turning. I am sure there willne some aches and pains but given what you do already you should be reasonably well prepared. No reason at all that dd can't do it- one of my friends who is a PE teacher has used Ripped and Shred as a template for some of her year 10/11 classes! If possible, having a range of weights really helps- if you are quite fit already then being able to use slightly heavier ones means you can make sure you are being challenged, whilst dd might like to start with light weights. Depending on what she has done fitness wise she may find it a shock to the system tbh. My experience is that a fair few teenagers think they are pushing themselves physically when they are really not- but that is a generalisation. She may already be doing some hard core stuff! I know that I didn't really start realising what I could do until I joined the military in my mid twenties and got screamed at by Very Angry Men until I did more press ups. It made me realise that everything I had done before was a bit of a warm up really!!

Welcome Turning I second what the others have said, have fun

Ri30 L1 done

Thanks all. I await arrival of the DVD with anticipation and will let you know how we get on!

spinningirl10 · 25/06/2014 06:47

Just done BH Workout, the first 30min one, it was good but that women with him is bloody annoying with all her grunting!!

knottyhair · 25/06/2014 06:59

I know what you mean spinning! I don't think I'd mind so much if I was more convinced it was genuine.
Did Jillian's Killer Abs L2 this morning. I really like this DVD but found some of the moves pretty tough, but then my abs are not my strong point not sure what is really. But we're meant to find it tough, right??

notyummy · 25/06/2014 09:14

She does a lot of gurning in the Pure Strength one too. Now don't get me wrong, it's a bloody hard workout but she is doing the modified version and she starts pulling faces about 3 minutes in!

StuntNun · 25/06/2014 11:33

Turning you can get the first level on YouTube if you want to see what's involved before your DVD arrives. I find it helps to have an idea of the exercises before trying them the first time.

Jacksterbear · 25/06/2014 11:40

Ripped L 4 done. I can't do the supermans with 3kgs weights! But everything else was fine. I like the little pep talk / relaxation bit at the end (only when I'm not really pushed for time though - otherwise it's just irritating!)

I haven't seen Gurning Lady (or any Bob DVDs) but agree that obviously fake expressions of pain and fatigue on workout DVDs are just annoying (Davina is guilty of this in hers), whereas the occasional genuine ones (Shaun T's "helpers" do them now and then) are quite reassuring!

notyummy · 25/06/2014 12:16

Snap jackster- I did L4 Ripped yesterday too. I foolishly left it until one hottest parts of the day so our conservatory was boiling which made it more unpleasant than it needed to be. I can just do the supermen with 3kg....but only just. Find the burpees into scissor squats quite tough too......

IdkickJilliansAss · 25/06/2014 13:28

The humidity makes it tougher, I did a circuit class outside last night and tweaked my shoulder during the 55 burpee part (yuck)

IdkickJilliansAss · 25/06/2014 16:47

Ri30 L3&4 done, shoulder thankfully feeling fine

OP posts:
spinningirl10 · 26/06/2014 07:10

I've done bobs 30 min cardio and his 10 minute abs this morning.

Pleased the shoulder is ok Kick, circuits in the heat must be tough!!

IdkickJilliansAss · 26/06/2014 17:31

Not as bad as indoors Spinning thats the real killer

OP posts:
EarSlaps · 26/06/2014 20:04

Did L1 shred today with weights for cardio. Had a rest day yesterday after my kettlebell class on Tuesday. Going away for the weekend so I doubt there'll be any exercise.

IdkickJilliansAss · 26/06/2014 21:02

Anywhere nice Earslaps? No JM today as I had a circuit class in the park, we got very wet!

OP posts:
EarSlaps · 27/06/2014 09:41

Back to my childhood home for a wedding of one of my school friends. Child free as well as the boys will be with mum and dad. Then off to centerparcs next weekend, busy times!

Jacksterbear · 27/06/2014 16:30

Ooh sounds nice, have a lovely time Earslaps.

Boast alert: I caught a glimpse of a very toned shoulder/upper arm, pushing a buggy, on the school run today - had a split second of admiration before realising it was my own reflection in a car window! The move up to 3kg weights has made a huge difference. Smile. I have just tried to take a photo to show you all but it's harder than you'd think to photograph your own shoulder! Grin

Boast over.

Keep up the awesome work all and have a great weekend. x

IdkickJilliansAss · 27/06/2014 19:02

Sounds great Earslaps hope you have a high old time!

Boast away Jackster you've worked hard for it!

OP posts:
IdkickJilliansAss · 28/06/2014 12:50

NMTZ done, swapped between 5kg and 3kg, I gind the first circuit (shoulders) the hardest and can only just about use 3's on some of the moves. Have a 11 mile charity walk tonight so i'm laying off the cardio for today Smile

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 28/06/2014 12:59

Good one idkick. I find that first NMTZ circuit very hard too and can only do the side raises with 2kgs.

L1 Shred done today.

notyummy · 29/06/2014 19:22

Hi all.

Well done on toned arms jackster.

Just back from camping weekend in the rain where far too much food and wine were consumed. Managed NMTZ on Friday before I went, and did some Pilates in the tent yesterday. Rather hungover today and huge washing pile but did manage 40 on cross trainer on my return.

May do the first bit of Bobs Workout tomorrow. Not time to do both bits as fitting in whilst dd at Brownies.

knottyhair · 30/06/2014 05:46

I'dkick, hope the walk went OK. Jackster, definitely boast away, you've worked really hard! Notyummy, very impressed at Pilates in the tent!
Did Kickboxing FF 1 on Thurs, KBFF 2 on Friday, rest day Sat, Killer Abs 3 yesterday. Killer Abs is becoming a favourite, but Level 3 is tough! Mountain climbers where you have to clap your hands inbetween each one? Couldn't manage those at all! Also another move where you hold the Superman position and keep passing a weight behind you. Not much time this morning, so another KBFF (workout 3) then walking to Music Bugs & back. Just under 3 weeks until holiday so I'm determined to do as much as possible, although I plan on packing Jillian & Bob in my suitcase!
