Thanks Bltherskites! Will look at that video later. (Don't like the sound of those butt kicks!)

Blatherskite · 20/04/2014 12:55

You just flick your heels up towards your bum. I have been known to literally kick myself in the butt which can hurt but it usually just means I've been a bit overzealous :)

ThursdayConsuelaLast · 20/04/2014 12:57

Well done degust and Indians!
Pissing it down here, will see if I can rustle up some enthusiasm for a run later Grin

Fishandjam · 20/04/2014 13:18

blathers, AFAIK spinach isn't a good source of iron as it's all locked away in non-bioavailable oxalates. Broccoli is better, or watercress. I take Spatone every few days as well as having a serious broccoli habit Grin

Fishandjam · 20/04/2014 13:19

Oh yes, and any dietary iron takes around a fortnight to be converted into haemoglobin...

Blatherskite · 20/04/2014 13:20

I'll get back on the Spatone while I wait for the doc then :)

postmanpatscat · 20/04/2014 13:36

Happy Easter runners!

Crap weather here, so did 5 miles on the treadmill, which felt way too much like hard work. Had planned to do a really long run this weekend but my legs feel like they belong to someone else right now.

Well done on your new PB cardiff

Eau I'm on MFP too, I'm snailrunner on there.

lazypepper · 20/04/2014 14:44

Crikey - I can't keep up with this thread. :)

Not run this weekend at all. Which is a shame as the weather is lovely here in Yorkshire.

I plan to do a big Easter dinner, so won't be in any shape for running after that! Perhaps I should nip out whilst the beef is cooking:)

lazypepper · 20/04/2014 14:46

p.s. I watched the video on stretching.

Must confess I am not a 'stretcher'. I used to do it when I ran with a beginners training group. We did dynamic stretches before and after.

Now I just tend to walk for a few minutes to get moving - which I consider my warm up stretch.

EauRouge · 20/04/2014 14:47

Bugger, I seem to have inadvertently started a running group in my village- any tips? They are all loads faster than me. I don't think anyone wants it to be a proper running club but they all seem very enthusiastic about meeting up for group runs.

No running for me today, I'm meant to be resting before tomorrow but I just spent an hour digging in the garden and will probably go on the rowing machine tonight because DH is out and if I don't row then I will snack.

originalpiratematerial · 20/04/2014 15:21

Well I'm feeling very smug (as well as knackered) as I did 8.5 miles today, the longest run I've ever managed, and that included a PB 10k (according to Endomondo) in 1hr5mins. Still can't imagine doing 13 miles though Confused but I don't have to commit myself to doing this Hackney half-marathon for another few weeks so I guess I should just keep training and see how I feel in a fortnight. Glorious weather (from my pov) for running today - light rain all the way, so didn't overheat, and not too many other folks out - especially cyclists, bane of my life on narrow canal paths!

originalpiratematerial · 20/04/2014 15:22

Oh and I'm now relaxing in my tres glamorous new calf compression thingies - I have enormous calves and seemed to be experiencing a bit of DOMS when I was getting ready for my six mile race recently, so I hope these help.

orangeflutie · 20/04/2014 15:50

Originalpirate when is the Hackney half? Sounds like you're doing really well with the long runSmile

No run for me today, have felt really tired and washed out all week since I went out for test 4 mile run on Friday. I just constantly feel as if I could fall asleep any moment but difficult to just do that as house has been busy this week and today with the dds being on hols and friends over. At the moment not too bad as they're all watching Despicable Me 2 whilst I rest upstairs and MNSmile

originalpiratematerial · 20/04/2014 17:20

It's 22 June, orangeflutie

I'm not surprised you're still recovering!

Sirzy · 20/04/2014 17:30

No run for me today, but I WILL go before our day out tomorrow - although as the day out is mainly walking I may regret it later in the day.

Well done to all who have run today - too many to keep up with!

Hope you have all had a lovely easter

Am vexed! Did my longest ever run and Endemondo stopped working after 3km. Mapmyrun estimated 12km but am gutted ! Oh well!

Can anyone recommend à head band that is good at keeping sweat away, and a running bottle that has à pouch for iPhone in it? Like a handheld bottle rather than a waist belt?

Sirzy · 20/04/2014 17:38

Oh no theonly how annoying! Well done on the long run though

originalpiratematerial · 20/04/2014 17:55

Argh theonlyone - I hate it when things like that happen! Well done, though - brilliant!

yegodsandlittlefishes · 20/04/2014 18:00

EauRouge, would it help to start a private facebook group for your village runners?

youbethemummylion · 20/04/2014 18:09

theonly I have a bottle by a comany called Nathan it has a pouch attached for phone etc also a little card for emergency info. I got it in a sale for 6 off some website or other Im sure if you google you'll find them. I would really recomend it.

EauRouge · 20/04/2014 18:25

Yegods, that's what I've done. I'm not doing any more than that, you need a trained coach to make it a proper running club, and then a treasurer and all kinds of other gubbins. I'd happily join it but I've no time to run it.

Theonly, nightmare. Did you lose GPS signal? I had that with runkeeper a few times when I used to use it.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/04/2014 18:34

Well done Degustibusnonestdisputandem CardiffUniversityNetballTeam!

I'm on mfp but not really active now EauRouge :(

I said to dh that I'd like to do silverstone half next year, it's quite a way for me to go for 10k though.

That's fab originalpiratematerial!!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 20/04/2014 18:42

Thanks! Grin I'm in awe of anyone who can do a half let alone full marathon, I was thinking to myself as I was doing my 10kms, a half would be more than twice this! (I will do it either this summer or next though!)

originalpiratematerial · 20/04/2014 18:46

Question for you - has anyone done a Nike We Run The Night event? There's one in Victoria Park in early May (Victoria Park is very close to me, that's where I did my six mile charity run recently).
