April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

Thanks Lambzig - it's good to hear from a fellow caesarean-ite on the old bagel belly front. And Stuntnun thanks for reminding me - I had started doing vacuuming and then sort of forgot somewhere along the line. I shall resume forthwith!

BetterWithCheese · 28/04/2014 15:54

Lambzig those are fantastic stats, well done! I need to commit more, I did 30DS L1D5 today but it's taken almost three weeks to get there. So I'm aiming to do finish L1 by Monday. That may just give me enough time to finish the next two levels before my holiday in June.

ThePowerOfMe · 28/04/2014 16:13

Thanks Errol. I am feeling down about it but I'm sure I'll be fine after the initial reaction has worn off.

I've been thinking of a new career anyway so I've got the push I need.

I just need my new, slimmer and toned figure to go with my new life :)

RunLikeSomeFeckersChasing · 28/04/2014 18:55

I'm in. Holiday in 60 days and I've half a stone excess baggage. So I'm planning shred followed by ripped! I've done shred before and know it works. I can do it again. Also need to up the running. So today I did 5k in 27 minutes, then put on the DVD and did level 1. Might need to weigh and measure.

RunLikeSomeFeckersChasing · 28/04/2014 19:01

Quick question - I do a PT session Wednesday, should I take that as a shred day (I feel slightly stunned most weeks). Would you do instead of shred and have a rest day! Plus do most people do I rest day a week?

spinningirl10 · 28/04/2014 19:43

Wow loads going on here! Well done Shredders and a big well done to The Power for your inch/weight lossGrin

I did KB&T l2 today and also 30day shred L3....not done shred for ages and enjoyed it!

spinningirl10 · 28/04/2014 19:45

Run I would do the pt session instead of shred. 5k in 27 mins is fab, well done! I do it in about 35mins.

Lambzig · 28/04/2014 20:59

Thanks, I was worried I sounded a bit braggy, but so impressed with the results, I wanted to share.

For me, I just have to think about it as part of my morning routine that has to be done, just as boring as making the toddler porridge, getting a shower or doing the washing up. If I think it's optional I won't do it.

spinningirl10 · 28/04/2014 21:13

Oops it was lambzig I meant to say big well done to! Sorry I'm on my iPad and can't scroll back to name check and I forget when I'm mid sentence Grin

BrianButterfield · 28/04/2014 21:24

I'm in - just done L1D2 and by god it was easier by far than day 1! I have a 4mo baby and 1 stone to lose to get to pre-DC weight, though I'd be happy with half a stone and a lack of baby belly! I'm also using MFP and running so as DD is EBF (could I use any more acronyms??) even with a target of 1200 I 'earn' more calories than I can eat. Concentrating on cutting back on quick fix junk food, upping fruit and veg, cutting back on caffeine and lowering (but not cutting out) carbs, while keeping lots of healthy fats for BF like avocado, oily fish, butter/olive oil etc. Feeling good so far!

RunLikeSomeFeckersChasing · 28/04/2014 21:36

Ta Spin, was thinking that on PT. Would like to bring the time down a bit, and up my distances again.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/04/2014 08:10

Brian - that sounds like a good plan. Smile

DH and I are going for a walk now as its a lovely morning, will have to see how the time goes whether I can do something later - I've got one or two aches after NMTZ yesterday.

Gimmesomemore · 29/04/2014 09:43

Room for one more?

I started 30ds last Wednesday, and missed a day over the weekend, so have done 5 days. My energy has improved and stamina.

However, I really struggle with the jumping jacks and jump ropes, I hope they become easier.

I really want to tone up my stomach area, after 3 big babies and stomach surgery, it's going to take some work....

tabulahrasa · 29/04/2014 11:19

30DS L1D8 - done, it's all hot though, it's harder when it's hot...

BetterWithCheese · 29/04/2014 11:36

30DS L1D6 done. First time I've done it on consecutive days and I found I struggled at the start until I warmed up a bit then it was ok.

Brian, I also have a 4 month old baby and about a stone to pre-pregnancy weight. Unfortunately I then have another 2-3 stone to lose Smile. How many calories do you allot for EBF? I'm just aing for around 1800 a day as I think that's what recommended on Kellymom.

BetterWithCheese · 29/04/2014 11:36

That should be aiming not aing!

yadahyadah · 29/04/2014 12:54

Rin30 D6 L1 done. Slightly bonkers morning with neighbours dropping in and out for tea and second breakfasts Blush but I managed to get the exercise in before lunch so that's that checked off the list. Fast went well yesterday so feeling positive about getting it all headed in the right direction. Welcome to all the new names.

leesmum · 29/04/2014 13:01

Hi can i join in? started 30DS yesterday so on day2, was a bit achey this morning but soon got into it! I dont have tons to lose but would like to tone up. I Stopped smoking last summer and generally just want to be fitter. Its nice to see everyones stories and how well you are all doing Smile

Gimmesomemore · 29/04/2014 14:43

Does everybody do the 30ds at the same time every day?

I've done a couple of times in the morning and the last 3 times late in the evening.

I'd like a routine with the same time every day, but find this difficult.

tabulahrasa · 29/04/2014 15:02

I do it in the morning, after the kids have gone to school and I've fed the pets and what have you, but before I've eaten...because if I do stuff first, I put off 30DS until I just don't do it, lol

yadahyadah · 29/04/2014 15:45

Hi Gimmesomemore I try to do it post school drop-off because I like to get it out of the way and do it on an empty stomach. However, life just gets in the way sometimes so I find by aiming to stick to a weekdays exercise/ weekends rest plan, I am forced to get on with it, even on days - like today - when stuff happens. Good luck.

BadRoly · 29/04/2014 20:26

I'm trying to fit it in first thing so that it's done for the day - means setting the alarm for 6.30 but I reckon the reason I missed 2 weeks is because I planned to do it later in the day and got distracted Blush

So if I count the week I did, I'm on D8 (or perhaps 9) of 30ds L1. I am definitely not achy like I was when I started so I'm thinking of maybe trying L2 at the end of this week - would probably equate to day 12ish but only day 5 if I take yesterday as my start.

I understand L2 to be much harder though so what do the experienced shredders think please?

GandTnow · 29/04/2014 22:10

I have really changed how and when I do 30shred/ Ri30. I started out doing it first thing and then one day didn't get up in time so did it later on and was surprised by how much more effort I could put in. I think it might be a good way to get rid of daily stress!

Anyway done level 3 of Ripped again today. Feeling ok, but certainly feels like a jump up from level 2.

Bad I found level 2 of Shred tricky and only stayed on it for about 7 days as a result. I moved ontl level 3 and then did a bit of a tour through the levels with my spare days at the end. Give it a go, you can always go back to level 1 if it's too much for a couple more days.

ThePowerOfMe · 30/04/2014 10:18

30dsL1d5 done.

Its actually taken me a while to get back into it (4 days!) but I'm back with renewed determination. I feel so good after I've done it that it makes no sense not to!

The best time for me to Shred is first thing in the morning. I get up at 6.45, Shred, have a shower and get dressed. It really sets me up for the day. Like BadRoly, on the days I've left it for later, I've not done it.

I love the enthusiasm on this thread :)

tabulahrasa · 30/04/2014 11:05

30DSL1D9 - done

hmm, I'm not that enthusiastic, lol

It's helping me lose weight (I was dieting anyway) and I definitely feel fitter and better, I can feel muscles in my arms, so I like the results.

But, I'm not an exerciser, I don't enjoy it and I have to force myself to do it. That's why I do it it when I do it, I basically use my coffee and breakfast as the reward, I don't get them until I do it, lol.
