April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

Signing in!

CallingAllEngels · 31/03/2014 08:48

I'm in!

Highlandbird · 31/03/2014 08:50

I'm so desperate to get fit again, is this doable with a 3 year old and an 11 mo clinging on to me?? Wink Will have a look if it's in my tesco today.....

CallingAllEngels · 31/03/2014 08:52

I will have a 2 and a half year old clinging to my leg, following me round the lounge and crawling underneath me when I'm doing push ups Grin Just adds to the challenge!

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 31/03/2014 09:01

Yay, hello people!

Highland & Engles, just look at them as your (slightly unconventional) personal trainers! I have a 4yo who will probably demand Thomas the fecking Tank Engine the second I put the DVD in, not to mention the 18 yo who is likely to point & laugh...

I'm going to have a good go at downing 8 glasses of water a day & doing the clean eating thing. I'm already vegan so you'd think that bit would be easy... But there's no animal products in chips, or a surprisingly large range of biscuits Blush

Right I'll see if I can get it, if not can I download on YouTube?

masquerade · 31/03/2014 09:28

Yep me. I actually started last week, did Thursday and Friday but then missed the weekend. I'm going to do it at half past nine today - enough time to mentally prepare myself but not so long to talk myself out of it. I believe some people actually enjoy exercise, I'm hoping its something that can be learned.

I'm on a diet as well (1400 calories a day) because I need to lose weight, but I'm Shredding to improve my fitness mostly, I've noticed I'm starting to get out of breath after a couple of flights of stairs at work, not good!

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 31/03/2014 09:52

Oh god.

I want to say I'm in but I did it once before and it killed me. The pain the next morning was something I wasn't expecting.

I'm 9 months post partum and need to get fit again. My back actually wobbles when I dry it with a towel. Shock

masquerade · 31/03/2014 11:31

Done :-)
Today was easier than day 2.

PhDmummy · 31/03/2014 11:39

I sooooo need to tone up before a girly break in May so I would like to join in please. I bought the DVD 2 months ago but still in its cellophane! I work full time so thought I might attempt it everyday before breakfast - does that sound reasonable?

IPokedABadgerWithASpoon · 31/03/2014 11:43

I'm tentatively! in too! I'll see if I can fit it in today on the baby's nap, if not I'll do it tomorrow...

OkyDoke · 31/03/2014 11:48

Ahh I'm going to try this, need a boost in my weight loss! What are the rules, is it every day? Do you have to do Level 1 for so long or what?

Thanks!

RunningKatie · 31/03/2014 12:32

I'm in! My 3 year old and 16 month old join in, they ask for mummy telly and are better at level 2 than i am. Smile

Challenging month ahead, dh going away for 9 days so have to exercise at home, have also quit the gym so now need to relearn how to ride a bike!

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 31/03/2014 12:58

Oh Happy, I'm scared now!

I was thinking about getting up half an hour earlier to do it, but that might be a little bit unrealistic!

Level one is on YouTube. As I understand it you do level for 10 days, then level 2 for 10 days & then level 3 for the rest.

I might start using My Fitness Pal again too, not to calorie-count but just to make myself a bit more aware of how many biscuits what I'm actually eating.

I'm in! I sort of started late this month but nasty cold/flu bug has meant I've only managed 2 days. Smile Am also doing 5:2

PhDmummy · 31/03/2014 13:02

That's a good idea, Chuck, I think I will start using My Fitness Pal as well to keep an eye on what I am eating, might help me cut down on the snacking on days I work at home.

SuchSweetSorrow · 31/03/2014 14:48

I'm in! Also doing MFP

PhDmummy · 31/03/2014 15:53

Can anyone suggest good hand weights to use - I'm looking at Pineapples 2.5lb weights on Amazon just now - thanks!

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 31/03/2014 16:06

Meh, DVD was £7.50! Still fairly bargainous though. Found some 2.5kg dumbells in Decathlon for £5.99. I don't need anything else do I??

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 31/03/2014 16:42

Oh my word! Wasn't gonna start until tomorrow but curiosity got the better of me... I so do not like side lunges! DS2 enjoyed running round in circles around me whilst shouting encouragement!Grin

I got weights from tkmaxx.

I'm on mfp, started at beginning of month and am 4lb down so far.

I'm aiming to shred or gym each day, with one rest day a week.

sunshinysummer · 31/03/2014 17:02

Yay-I came on to exercise to find a shred thread! I did it last summer (diff username) and found the threads on here really motivational.

The results were great but I broke my arm last November and have since out on about 10lbs due to no exercise and rubbish eating.
I did L1D1 yesterday so finding stairs hard today! Will do d2 tonight but might have to slow the pace down a bit!

here's to some successful April shredding...:)

Highlandbird · 31/03/2014 17:17

Right I've bought it...I'm in! Will start tomorrow it's not April yet WineBiscuit

masquerade · 31/03/2014 18:00

I'm only using 1kg weights. My upper body strength is pretty poor; I can't do proper press ups and the side lunges/lateral arm raises kill me! Although the good thing is I don't even notice my leg muscles, my arms are hurting so much.

I suppose I do find some of the upper body exercises easier, chest flies and the bicep curls and the back one so maybe I could get a heavier set for those, I really do want to feel more confident about my upper arms this summer.

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 31/03/2014 18:06

Oops, my mistake - they're 1.5kg weights, probably just as well! (My arms are like spaghetti - not in a good way)

Will treat today as a practice run, starting the shred properly tomorrow Grin
