As the first thread ( www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/1948631-Is-there-a-general-running-thread? ) is now pretty much full time for a new one.

Thread for anyone who runs no matter how fast or slow or how long you run for to discuss all things running!

or a metric mile is 1.5k

EauRouge · 28/03/2014 11:11

Meh. Lurgy all this week and DH has been away, so no running. Can't parkrun tomorrow because my band rehearsal is on earlier than normal, and I can't parkrun for 2 weeks after that because DH is going away again (he will be away for my birthday and I will miss my local parkrun's first birthday- MAJOR SULKS. Will probably just volunteer instead). Have cheered myself up by entering the Great Eastern. Anyone else doing it?

TessTackle · 28/03/2014 11:21

Just home and in the bath from a 6.3 mile !!!!!!!! run/power walk. Pushing through what I think are shin splints, going to get DP to give me a massage later.

Well done for going HaPPy it'll come back.

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 12:16

9k in 70 mins done :) longest run to date.

Sirzy that's brilliant!

Hello holmes

TessTackle · 28/03/2014 12:40

Amazing Sirzy!

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 13:06

thank you both.

Tess, be careful if you think you have shin splints not to push too hard apprently that can make them worse

Well done Sirzy! How did it go, Yeehaw? I'm hoping to do Parkrun tomorrow for the first time in ages (my local one has still been too wet after the floods).

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 14:35

Thnks Holmessweet

Hope you make it to the parkrun. We have nothing like that locally which is a shame

That's a shame - Parkrun is fab. Maybe one might spring up near you - there seem to be more and more being set up. I'm moving to Cumbria in the summer and it looks like there won't be one near me. Can't wait to go for runs in the beautiful countryside there though and maybe even try a bit if fell-running (gulp!)

ThursdayLast · 28/03/2014 15:40

Sirzy, I see your distances creeping up and up now! Well done for running for 70mins!
Well done to Tess too, but be careful of your shins. They are precious.
And happy, and yeehaw, lots of running today Smile
Eau, in your position I would be sulking too. I hope you feel better soon.

Relucto-dog and I managed a 7.5miler today. Longer than planned due to road resurfacing, meant I had to rethink route quickly. Slow though, due to dog. Looking forward to parkrun in the morning though.

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 15:43

I went for a run around bowness when up there last year and it was lovely running near windemere at sunrise :)

Thanks thursday, 7 weeks til my 10k so starting to feel confident I will survive!

Great job, Sirzy, if you can do 9k now you'll easily do 10k on the day. Are you following a training plan or just building it up gradually?

I missed my usual Friday morning run with friends as I had to wait in for a repair man - the usual pain, slot was 9 - 12 and he came at 11.45 so I could have easily gone for a run first. In the end I went for a slow drag with the dogs this afternoon. Up for an early 7.30 one tomorrow though, featuring hills and strength training Shock.

originalpiratematerial · 28/03/2014 18:35

Just been out for a run. Did 5 km which is all I was planning to do, but my right leg/foot got pretty painful - well, not so much painful as kind of immobile - tendons I think rather than muscles? Anyway I have iced it, and will keep stretching etc. I am hoping that a rest will put me right. 6 mile run is a week on Sunday so I don't need to be injured now!

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 18:55

Just building up gradually. I am now hoping that I can get to a position to do the whole 10k in about 70 mins. Don't think it will be impossible!

that sounds like hard work for tomorrow.

Hope your ok original

first time posting a pic, but a few people have commented on here about not being runners, or apologising for not being good so i thought this was very true -

youbethemummylion · 28/03/2014 19:27

After doing 8.5k on Tuesday I was confident of finally hitting 10k today but due to awful weather and still no appropriate bad weather running gear I went to the gym to do it on the dreadmill at 3k there was some sort of power shortage bang went my 10k and my mood with it! poor DH is currently walking on eggshells im suprised how much my mood has become dependant on my running!

Sirzy · 28/03/2014 19:29

Oh dear, there is something exceptionally frustrating about not being able to do the run you have planned especially when its due to things out of your control.

Hopefully you manage to get your 10k target next time!

I get proper grumpy when I have a bad run (or worse, no run).

Well done Sirzy and hope it's not too serious originalpiratematerial.

You can always get involved in setting up your own parkrun for anyone who's not near one!

There's a real mixture of great runs and disappointment today :) :(

I am considering going very early tomorrow as I'm rd at parkrun so have to be there at 8 and I need to take ds's as dh is going to work.

Dharmalovesdraco · 29/03/2014 10:48

Well I made myself get up and go to my local Parkrun, I didn't do great I have to say, ended up walking a few times :( which just really annoys me as I know I can run 5k. It was bumming hot as well which I don't think helped. Then on getting into the car I twisted my knee so will ice it later and drink wine.

Hope everyone else has a successful day today x
