As the first thread ( www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/1948631-Is-there-a-general-running-thread? ) is now pretty much full time for a new one.

Thread for anyone who runs no matter how fast or slow or how long you run for to discuss all things running!

Fantastic, well done! Enjoy the tea and smug feeling.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/03/2014 15:47

EAT that is fabulous! Well done and enjoy the post-run glow!

orangeflutie · 23/03/2014 16:05

Well done EATSmile It's a lovely feeling after your first half isn't it? I was on a high after my first half in March.

I did 18 miles this morning which will be my last really long run before VLM. I enjoyed it in parts, mostly the first two thirds lol. The knees were aching during the last third but I'm relieved it's now done. It was also nice to do it in sunshine as it started to hail about 10 mins after I got back.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2014 16:14

Sorry you weren't well enough to run Spacechimp but better to get well, there will be other 10k's :)

How did you get on thefemaleJoshLyman?

Well done EATmum, that's great!

I know what you mean OhOneOhTwoOhThree, hope you got out!

I didn't do parkrun yesterday as I had a course and then was working in the evening and I've had terrible cramps all say yesterday and today which also stopped me sleeping so I didn't go our today either, feeling fed up but didn't feel up to it. It's something I get every few months a few days after a ovulate, I probably should see a dr but I've just a assumed it's my coil battling against pregnancy but it's never been this bad before :( we didn't even go out for the day as we planned.

Hope everyone else had a lovely Sunday run if they wanted to.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 23/03/2014 16:14

Well done EAT, that is brilliant!

I did my 10k, which seemed really tough (even more scared about hm), dead chuffed with my time 48.59, did not expect to do sub-50. It was really windy across the Fens.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2014 16:14

Well done orangeflutie!

originalpiratematerial · 23/03/2014 16:24

Well done EATmum and orangeflutie!

I had a great run this morning. Shin felt fine! Did 7.5 miles which is the furthest I've ever run. New 10k PB of 1 hour 6 mins. Am definitely up for starting half-marathon training now, and really looking forward to the six mile charity run in a fortnight's time.

originalpiratematerial · 23/03/2014 16:24

and femaleJosh - that's great Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/03/2014 17:13

Fantastic orangeflutie! I am feeling quite jealous of your VLM - a couple of my friends are also doing it. After my one and only marathon I said never again, but am coming around to the idea of another Smile

cinnamon you poor thing, hope you feel better soon

Josh you are super-speedy. Well done!

Pirate that's great Smile

I have been out in the evening sunshine. Only about 5k, and no idea of speed now that I am garminless. Fingers crossed my bag will be handed in and I will get it back (and my running gear, and the other clothes I had in it).

Dharmalovesdraco · 23/03/2014 17:14

Well done Eat

I'm not sure what I thought I was doing this lovely sunny afternoon but it would appear I found myself entering a half marathon in October. What on earth have I done???

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/03/2014 17:28

Yay Dharma! Which one?

I have spent many a happy hour looking at my local running club's fixture list (even though I am not member) working out which races to enter Grin

Sirzy · 23/03/2014 17:32

well done everyone on the races today :)

Dharma, we can panic together I have a half marathon in September.

Congratulations Eat - that's an amazing achievement! Enjoy your post run euphoria. Well done on an amazing 10km time Josh and on your long runs orangeflutie and pirate. Sorry you are feeling rubbish cinnnamon - that sounds horrible.

Still feeling pretty ropey and also a bit down about not doing the 10km which I know is stupid as there will be others and it's not the end of the world. It's made me realise how much I've been using running and exercise in general to make me feel positive good about myself and it makes a real difference when I can't do it

EATmum · 23/03/2014 18:00

Thanks all and well done JoshLyman (who is mine btw) and everyone else running today!

Sirzy · 23/03/2014 18:02

Space hope you are feeling well enough to go out again soon!

It's the Bournemouth one :) ohone I'm really not sure what possessed me - I'll blame you lot, all this talk of 10ks and half marathons Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/03/2014 18:23

It will be great fun Dharma Smile

My next half is in June, although I'm tempted to slip one in in May as well Smile

ThursdayLast · 23/03/2014 18:51

Hello everybody!
Sounds like it's been a successful day in the sunshine for this thread.
For my part, I ran my 6 miles for sport relief. In 53 mins which was great Grin and I raised £180 which I'm delighted with!

Well done Eat, on you HM. And everyone else too, I'm sorry, I'm using the app and can't scroll the thread in the background to remind myself of everyones achievements today.

Sirzy · 23/03/2014 18:56

You will be fine Dharma, lots of time to prepare.

I am jealous of all these good 10k/6 mile times!

Dharma, I've totally got the bug too.
Been googling HMs Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2014 19:51

Well done ThursdayLast!

What are you doing in June OhoneOhTwoOhThree?

Sirzy · 23/03/2014 20:05

Thursday - get yourself signed up for one!

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/03/2014 20:47

cinnamon I have signed up for a possibly slightly bonkers "marathon series", which consists of a 5 mile road run on the Friday; 8.1 mile x-country on the Saturday and 13.1 on the Sunday of midsummer weekend. It's pretty local to me (close enough to bike to, although I don't think I will be doing that). DH has promised to cheer me on but I don't think he realises he will be doing it 3 times

Actually, it's all your fault Grin because I found out about it from a very nice lady I met at the finish of the Cambridge Boundary Run Smile, and if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have been there Grin

CQ · 23/03/2014 21:04

Well done all you racers today, it was perfect running weather down our way. I did a 5k fun run and it wasn't much fun. Uphill start, uphill finish and plenty uphills in the middle. All on bumpy turf and muddy trails. It was REALLY hard work - I then tried to go too fast on the flat bits to improve my time, and bombed out and had to walk for a tiny bit. Blush So I was disappointed with my time - 37 mins and something, but I haven't done a race for 18 months and my PB at 5k was on a fast, flat road race so I'm trying to be rational.

OhOne that midsummer race sounds fab. Going off to look for something similar near me - for 2015!

Sirzy · 23/03/2014 21:04

that sounds like hard work OhOne!
