There is an app which you can put your own music on. Try Rundouble if on android. Think it does that but not used it yet.

lookout · 18/01/2014 22:06

That was his opinion UsedTo, yes.
Have just installed the RunDouble app. I am somewhat useless on my phone though so not sure if I will get it to work. having a play now. Planning on repeating the 10mr, 3mw, 10mr tomorrow and see how my feet are. Thanks for the replies Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2014 22:37

You can use endomondo which will tell you every mile/km/min and use your own music. You could set it to every min and then run for how ever many minutes and then walk for how many :)

originalpiratematerial · 18/01/2014 23:18

Endomondo is really good, I like it a lot.

lookout · 19/01/2014 09:00

Well I did w6r1 again and loved having my own music! Sorry, Laura, but I think here we will be parting ways Grin. I loved also knowing how far I'd gone and how may calories I burned. I will alternate run1 and run2 for a week and see how my feet are then alternate r2 with r3 the following week all being well. Good to get out a bit later than usual as it was light and I could run through the woods. Much nicer than pounding the pavements!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/01/2014 09:12

Daylight running is much better! And softer ground is much better for joints.

HalleLouja · 19/01/2014 10:00

Am off out today. When DH has woken from his slumber Looking forwards to running in daylight. So do I run to the woods or the bridal paths behind the park? Decisions decisions.

Have just started running like a girl. Looks good.

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 19/01/2014 16:56

Has anyone tried the B210K podcasts? I tried the first one this afternoon and have realised I have no idea how fast I am running without Laura or someone telling me how many times a minute my feet should hit the ground... how do I work this out? I feel a complete numpty - it's a year since I finished C25K so surely I should know by now? But I always run with Laura or a similar track with a coach... Blush I'm assuming I'm not meant to run to the beat of the B210K track, my legs don't move that fast! Any advice anyone? Otherwise I am really going to struggle with this!

HalleLouja · 19/01/2014 17:22

I use Runkeeper to track distances and speed but it doesn't do how many times a minute my feet hit the ground. I do my own music too for the last weekend and am preferring it to be fair. I thought I would miss Laura / Rawbert but its nice just running to good music. So I digress someone with more knowledge may be along to help you soon.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 12:21

I'm rubbish too SarahWithAFringeOnTop! I could tell you how many times my feet hit the ground. I can tell if I'm going very fast and it's hard but it can be hard to tell the difference between 9 and 10 minute miling because I feel so different running at different times. You can get an app to give you an idea, do half a mile with your feet hitting x times, then another half with them hitting more times and then check the speed when you get home and that will give you an idea how many foot strikes each speed is. I use endomondo but also have a garmin now and endomondo tends to be slightly quicker/record slightly further.

Did w6r2 (again!!!) this morning. I really do prefer running with my own music, makes it so much more fun! Felt I could have done more than the 10m running but don't want to mess up this 'go slow' plan, so will go back to r1 on Sunday then alternate r2 and r3 next week before moving on to w7 the following week.

Also tried out my new top and running jacket this morning which I'm sure helped Wink. Did however have a couple of close calls with oncoming cars. Running in the dark and fog isn't the best. Will be pleased when 6.30am become a bit lighter!

RunRunRuby · 21/01/2014 17:12

Ran for 30 minutes today, finally coaxed myself into it, used MapMyFitness instead of my C25K app, but only measured 3.3km! Quite a difference from my previous runs, even accounting for the fact the other app included my warm up and cool down. I don't know which one is more accurate, but I'm obviously rather slow Blush

Faithless12 · 22/01/2014 11:15

I've just run week 3 run 3. Still a long way off 5k at the minute but it's a start. I've also just noticed from planking and doing C25K my abs are starting to look defined.

lookout · 22/01/2014 13:07

Faithless that's brilliant news! I must be doing something wrong, not even my legs are changing and I'm on week 6 for the third week in a row Grin

Faithless12 · 22/01/2014 14:44

Lookout my legs feel unchanged, apart from straight after a run when they feel rock hard, but I wanted to get rid of my tummy that I was starting to get so I suppose I'm examining it a lot more than I would otherwise and noticing little changes.

lookout · 22/01/2014 15:05

I keep meaning to start the 30 day plank challenge but have as yet to get my butt in gear. How long do you plank for?

HalleLouja · 22/01/2014 18:23

Lookout do you want to do it together?

Here.

I do pilates but am pants at planking.

HalleLouja · 22/01/2014 18:27

Day 1 of the plank challenge - tick.

lookout · 22/01/2014 23:45

Yes! Just done day1. Hoorah!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/01/2014 17:56

Well done RunRunRuby! You can build up your speed :)

How's your foot with slowing down a bit lookout?

lookout · 23/01/2014 18:57

Thanks for asking cinnamon, so far so good. Have had a rough week with illness and therefore dreadful sleep in the lookout home, but really hoping for a good night's sleep so I can get out for a run tomorrow morning.

Do people run with colds?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/01/2014 20:00

I do, coughed my way round tonight! If I feel ok other than being snotty or coughing then I go. If I feel unwell as well, headache, achy, shivery, tired then I don't. I have only been once with a cold and had to come home, I couldn't breathe well enough and had a stitch half a mile in that I couldn't got rid of, it got so bad I turned around and went home.

OP posts:
lookout · 23/01/2014 21:00

Cinnamon it's only a general coldy feeling so I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Halle I just planked Wink

dizzyday07 · 24/01/2014 01:41

i think I will join in with the planking as my saggy belly needs extra toning big time!

Did W2R2 tonight and apart from my right knee hurting it went ok

DharmaLovesDraco · 24/01/2014 08:57

Hi all, hope no one minds me popping in. I'm supposed to be running a 5k park run next Saturday (I agreed to do it for my sisters birthday, seemed like a good idea at the time Hmm) I've had to do it a bit quicker than you're meant to and last night for the first time I deviated slightly from week 6 run 3 and ran for 27 minutes, I was quite surprised I didn't keel over. Anyway my reason for posting is that I'm slow, I only went 3.8k my average speed was something like 11m per mile and I can't see me making it the full 5k - I guess I'm looking for either reassurance that I'll make it and I'll be quicker because of atmosphere etc and I won't look like an idiot (I'm not a natural runner) or should I just not do it and stick to the training program?
