It's gets harder in the cold definitely chirpchirp! I lost 5 1/2st while doing the c25k (before and after too, took me 8months) and it does make it easier definitely.

If you don't take them you definitely won't go MirandaWest Wink

Hmm - I want to take a small suitcase and about half of it would be my trainers. Suppose I could take them in a separate bag...

nextphase · 11/11/2013 12:32

Iwish
came recomended from the runnign club

Cinnamon that was my gut feeling.
OK, got some spare time tues lunch. see if I can do 15 this time - ie all the way out, and then see what happens comming back. Thank-you.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 11/11/2013 20:16

I missed a run at the weekend so did week 3, run 3 today. Found it much harder than the previous two even though it's the same Confused I'm rather tired at the mo and chemo/surgery side effects are playing up a lot so I guess that's probably why!

If anyone is looking for an iPhone app I just spotted one going free today (usually £2.49) it's called Easy 5K with Jeff Galloway. I'm downloading it in case it's nicer than my current one! Berstie if you're still looking there might be an Android version and it could be free too.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/11/2013 21:18

Android apps are usually cheaper/freer than Apple ones :(

I often found run 2 hardest GoodbyeRubyTuesday, no logic really but sometimes it is just the day, how tired you are or how much you've eaten or drunk without going through what you sound like you have!

Was good and brought my running stuff with me. And managed to catch a train back from London in reasonable time tonight so went for a quick 3k run after work. Was 17 min 13 seconds :) my bf and I seem to be having a small competition to see who can be fastest over 3k. I am back in the lead by one second

Felt good pounding the streets tonight Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 13/11/2013 13:54

Yay, glad you didn't take them for nothing MirandaWest Grin and well done for getting quicker!

Cinnamon
Thanks for your adive earlier. i went out again, and it was either Chimp, comfidence or the fear of ice underfoot last time, as I've just run the whole route (well I walked across the road at the top of the hill).
Now, need to try and speed up. I want to get a 30min 5k.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/11/2013 13:23

Yay!! Well done nextphase :)

Iwearblack · 14/11/2013 21:06

Thanks for the advice. Plucked up courage to do the 'speed' podcast and it was OK! Not too fast for me (and I am a plodder). I think I liked the 16 min nature of it.
Will try the stepping stone one next....
It was good to have Laura encouraging me again too!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 14/11/2013 22:13

I plucked up courage to do the 5+ stamina run tonight.

I covered 5.3k in the 35 minutes and was still standing at the end so I'm feeling very pleased with myself!

I think I need to increase my stride length a bit to up my distance - any tips on how to do that comfortably?

MirandaWest · 15/11/2013 10:32

Randomly got a day off today (should have been working but due to illness it got cancelled (although I still get paid :))) so have just been for a run :)

My mum and daft live on a big quite new estate in St Neots cinnamon so I been running round there this morning. There's some "hills" so was good for me. And lovely and sunny :) Did 5k in 28 min 46 seconds so very pleased :)

cinnamongreyhound · 15/11/2013 11:02

Perfect MirandaWest! This is the route you may recognise some :) I don't as I don't know at Neots at all!

OP posts:
MirandaWest · 15/11/2013 11:30

The illness is someone else's not mine by the way Grin.

Will look at the route and see where I recognise. Have told my mum and dad about the half marathon but not sure they're going to watch Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/11/2013 12:45

I assumed that or you wouldn't have been running Grin

MirandaWest · 17/11/2013 12:47

How was the half marathon cinnamon?

UsedToBeNDP · 17/11/2013 13:01

WK3 R3 done yesterday.

I'd been ignoring my running plan for a bit and going maverick. Just doing 5k interval runs for the distance rather than than the set plan runs on my app, so I've been 'off plan' for a couple of weeks. It takes me ages to 'run' 5k, 42-45 mins but I like the feel of it.

The shorter runs on the plan feel a bit stilted at the moment, even though I know they are less distance focused in the early weeks in order to focus on building up your run / reducing your walk periods. I don't want to jump fwd in the plan though because I know I'll get injured/fail. I'm just a bit frustrated at this point in time Confused.

Sorry for rambly post

cinnamongreyhound · 17/11/2013 15:01

I found the stop start a bit tedious towards the end UsedToBeNDP but week 6 is mostly continuous and all is from then on. If you can run 5k you might be better with one of the 5k + apps to improve your speed.

Thanks for asking MirandaWest, it was bloody hard! I tried to keep with the 2hr pacers but they got ahead at between mile 9 and 10, once I got to 11 I got some momentum back and finished in 2:01:05 by chip timing :)

OP posts:
UsedToBeNDP · 17/11/2013 16:27

You might be right cinnamon. My app is a 10k one so I think I'll try and stick to it for the long term gain. It doesn't feel like enough running though Hmm

UsedToBeNDP · 17/11/2013 16:28

Oooh a half marathon, cinnamon Envy. Well done!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 18/11/2013 09:53

I'm planning a 30 minute 5+ podcast run later today and am looking forward to it!

Iwearblack · 19/11/2013 23:21

Wow half marathon is v impressive cinnamon well done! Do you ever get over the feeling i always get at about 3 min in of 'oof this is hard work'?? I generally manage to keep going and then before you know it the 30 min is over - cant imagine how you could keep it going for 2 hours!!

Have managed to complete the stepping stone podcast! First time I tried it, stopped after 23 min and couldn't get going again (I blame the voice of Laura telling me I had run for 20 min when i thought i was nearer 25 min and i felt discouraged). Managed it this morning though and it felt ok! Got a good stride and managed to keep to the beat Grin

kiwee · 20/11/2013 02:03

Hi all! Sorry not read the whole thread but wondering if any of you had done c25k after pregnancy/ c-section and if so how soon you managed to start? I'm 6 weeks now and wanting to get back into some exercise! (had previously got to week 6 I think last year before injuring ankle and then getting pregnant).

originalpiratematerial · 20/11/2013 07:38

Morning all, sorry not to have been around much recently! I am sticking with the 10k training plan that I downloaded from Endomondo but am running a bit more, in terms of distance and time, than it says in the plan. 5 k in 30 mins is as far away as ever for me - did 5 k in 32.5 minutes yesterday, realistically I might manage to get down to just under 32 mins but that's probably as good as it is going to get so I am just going to concentrate on distance instead!

cinnamon well done on your half marathon - brilliant!

MirandaWest · 20/11/2013 07:57

I thought I posted yesterday but seems I imagined it Grin
Decided to do the stamina run of the Laura 5k plus runs for a bit of a change. And went through a wood (and luckily out the other side Grin). It was a 35 minute run so I went a bit further but seems that my natural running pace is faster than even the fast as I ended up going slower than normal. Good to know I can run for a little longer though.

Was thinking of running this morning after taking the children to school but there is a lot of rain going on. I may wimp out Grin.
