Not sure where August went to, but September is upon us and the shredding continues!
join us here, all current shredders, hopeful shredders to be, rebooting shredders and nearly finished shredders, for support, encouragement and occasional necessary kicks up the bum...

deeply, the first cardio circuit in L1 is just too much jumping, kills my lower legs so I have to pause before I get to lung explosion! So I've swapped it around a bit - do JJs with butt kicks and then for the second circuit jumprope with punches.

deeplybaffled · 03/09/2013 21:30

Me neither! I was literally gasping for air...
glad to hear that at least the cardio doesn't get worse in the next level, as I'm scared already. Taking consolation from the fact that people do make it to level three, so hopefully, it is survivable!

Did it! How is everyone else doing?

leezl · 04/09/2013 08:11

L1D1 in the bag!
I'm not well now, though...Shock

GrimmaTheNome · 04/09/2013 08:55

reboot L1D10 done. Roll on L2!

leezl and anyone else who's just started - the first 3-4 days are way the worst. If you can stick it through those it really does get easier. Take the tips on doing more stretches esp the quads. Caveat - if you really feel unwell after any sort of exercising, probably wise to get a checkup with your GP before continuing.

HaplessHousewife · 04/09/2013 09:10

I don't feel as bad this morning as I thought I would but it feels like I have no muscles at all in the front of my legs above the knee, they feel completely dead ? makes walking up and down the stairs interesting!

NoelHeadbands · 04/09/2013 09:14

Woo hoo new thread- hello Shredders!!

I'm just back from holiday in France, where carbs featured heavily in my day. Very heavily. So I may hold off on the promised second set of photos for a little while yet Grin Need to get back on track.

RippingYarns · 04/09/2013 09:58

I did wonder where you'd got to Noel, good holiday?

L3D6 done here, my abs are still to arrive to this party but my legs arms and shoulders are making up for it

Anyone else up for c25k starting next Monday?

Boopear · 04/09/2013 10:04

Well done everyone! Day 9 L1 Ripped in 30 done. Level 2 tomorrow.. eeek!

GrimmaTheNome · 04/09/2013 10:05

Anyone else up for c25k starting next Monday?
maybe... I just took the dog out for what was supposed to be my cooldown walk but it was so pleasant out I jogged a couple of miles along the canal.

niceupthedance · 04/09/2013 10:26

Checking in, day 3 done.

Will be taking a rest day tomorrow as will have a hangover most likely!

NoelHeadbands · 04/09/2013 10:26

Lovely thanks Ripping, did I mention the carbs...?

I'm up for a C25k challenge. Cos of the carbs, you see

RippingYarns · 04/09/2013 10:31

I've got a special filter when it comes to carbs. I can't see them at all. (I also need a new hiding place for them though, it's no secret where they all are :-O )

I find it really difficult to low-carb though, I don't eat meat and most of the literature I've read says no beans/pulses. Most of my food has at least some in.

Hence the running

NoelHeadbands · 04/09/2013 10:34

I've low carbed for about a year, with the occasional holiday/ Xmas blips etc but if I'm honest I'm starting to struggle.

Yes, hence the Shredding and running Grin

leezl · 04/09/2013 15:19

RippingYarns that's where I struggle with low carb - being vegetarian. I'm hypothyroid so low carb REALLY suits me otherwise, but I just can't bring myself to eat meat Confused

HaplessHousewife · 04/09/2013 20:00

Day 2 done. I really didn't want to do it today but I managed it and I don't think I feel as wobbly as I did when I finished yesterday.

DearlyDepartedMrsFinch · 04/09/2013 20:48

L1D4 done and I do believe it is getting easier. I took the extra quad stretching advice and although I feel tender, I can walk up the stairs without weeping. That's good, right?

Ripping and leezl, I have thought vaguely about low carbing but I'm vegetarian too and I think I'd really struggle cos I love pizza

Is Ripped in 30 the same as The 30 Day Shred? Do I have to move up to Level 2 after 10 days? Surely not! And do I have to get up at 6am and do this ^every^ day?!

RippingYarns · 04/09/2013 21:03

i was giving myself a hard time about not low-carbing, almost telling myself that the veggie thing was an excuse, but it really is hard to do without bulking out with protein. ie meat and dairy is only allowed in very low amounts too

hey ho, i'll have to run a bit faster, eh?

GrimmaTheNome · 04/09/2013 21:26

I'd have thought for veggies it'd be better to focus on avoiding high GI carbs, should think its really hard to do without the pulses.

RippingYarns · 04/09/2013 21:32

exactly, Grimma

chick peas and lentils are a great source of vegetable protein for me

low fat is a far more viable option now i'm on the fitness bus Grin

Wandawingsthe2nd · 04/09/2013 21:53

Hey all.

I've started this today and feel so good for it. Yes, I ache. Yes, I shouted at the TV BUT I feel great! Bring on tomorrow!

This time a fortnight ago I done NO exercise ever. Now I am doing C25K, Shred and Zumba. I am so proud of me right now!

Bumpotato · 04/09/2013 22:02

L2D7 done first thing this morning.

I like L2...I must be weird. Dd1 who is 8 has watched L3 and reckons it is more fun, we'll see.

GrimmaTheNome · 04/09/2013 22:05

Dearly - yes, it should start to get easier now. Smile

Is Ripped in 30 the same as The 30 Day Shred? - no
Do I have to move up to Level 2 after 10 days? Surely not! - not if you don't want to - but take a quick look through it. I didn't find it that bad.
And do I have to get up at 6am and do this every day?! - when is of course dependent on what fits your day (I find before brekkie the best). You don't have to do it every day but the more consistently you do it, the faster you should see results. Certainly a rest day or two a week is ok.

DearlyDepartedMrsFinch · 04/09/2013 22:10

Thanks Grimma. I might have a rest day this weekend Smile

wallpaperaddict · 04/09/2013 22:10

L3D6 done! Still not feeling 100% but don't want to let this slip when I'm so close to finishing!!!
