Right, got home earlier than expected so put the time to good use and shredded. level 2 day 10 done-eek. Though tbh I will be glad to see the back of this level.
True to form I am logging this before my shower! I am still puce and will be until I shower!
errol - that must be a nice feeling. I feel stronger but haven't yet noticed something I can do now in 'real life' that I couldn't do before.

Doris - I am also curious! What could they have said on this thread that was so controversial...

Well my 1kg weights rocked up today (these ones) and I really worked up a sweat as the lighter weights meant I could concentrate on the squats rather than not dropping the weights!

However, I'm now sitting on the couch and wincing gently as I have sore muscles in my back that I haven't felt before! Still L1D8 done and dusted.

Oh, we are level then, sleepy head 33! Level 2, day 10 done here too, although controversially posting after my shower, so slightly paler shade of puce...watched level 3 on fast forward which was probably a tactical error!
tomorrow could be...interesting.
as for deleted posts, if it was what I saw, it was some kind of spam advert - heaven knows why it pitched up on our harmless shred thread!

L3D4 done, and unusually I've showered already. I quite like most of L3, doing anitas for some moves of course, except the rock star jumps really don't happen.

L1D9 done.

Lying on bed totally knackered now. And I'm supposed to e unknackering a cupboard for the plumber coming, except I don't think I can move.

New weights definitely helping (or possibly hindering?!) as bit hurt that didn't before coz I wasn't doing the move properly.

Last day of L1 tomorrow and then on to L2 on Thursday - eeek! Shock

Glad to hear that you are enjoying L 3 Errol. Well I'm not shredding tonight. Absolutely shattered and got loads of marking so it in the best gram of mind to start L 3. Think I am going to come to it refreshed tomorrow.
Deeplybaffled-make sure you report back and let me know what to expect!

well done Doris-only one more until L2. Are you noticing any changes in terms of clothes fitting better yet?

Report
DorisShutt · 24/09/2013 20:41

Not noticing sizing changes, I'm still a size 14, but the thighs of my trousers are looser I think.

My stomach isn't quite as wobbly, but sadly my cellulite an stretch marks are still present Hmm

May change my name to deeply puce!
Done level 3, day 1. Had to do it about one and a half times as some of the moves were beyond me, choreographically the first time, so was just swearing at the dvd. But I do have 3 left feet, combined with the fact that I can't see the screen properly when in plank, so that's probably just me:(
As I couldn't see properly and was relying on what she said, was trying to raise an arm and leg simultaneously in the last circuit and getting very cross with myself when I couldn't do it...feeling a bit happier now I've had another go, but something of a muppet for the cock ups the first time round - hopefully iron some of them out next time.
good luck, sleepyhead33 - am sure people who have a modicum of coordination, and /or the sense, unlike me, to watch the level first will be fine;)

Or, rather, those who have the sense to watch it properly, instead of on fast forward, like me...

Hi, I have a very quick question please. Sorry I haven't had time to read the whole thread yet (over 300 posts!) but am on Level 1, Day 3 and very motivated by you all and your successes Smile So apologies if this has been answered already....

My Q is what happens after the 30 days?! I realise there's some talk of other DVDs but surely it's not a case of buying a new DVD every month is it? Being newish to exercise, I'm wondering if you just carry on with what suits you to keep up the newly toned physique or is it necessary to find something new and challenging? Can the shred be done long term if I find it suits me? Or will it all go back to jelly the week after I stop?!

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts Grin

Hi Sunny, welcome aboard... I think the answer is, whatever suits you. I did the shred before going on holiday and then came back for a second go around - using larger weights for some moves, doing a bit more Natalie. I'm thinking that when I've finished either I'll mix it up a bit (do a day on each level in turn) or get a different DVD, possibly ripped in 30 - maybe do that and then come back to shred (I'm still nowhere near 'all natalie' so I don't think I'm done with it)

Not sure but I'd guess that if you want to maintain rather than carry on building strength/fitness you could just do maybe each level once per week.

Oh, forgot I was meant to log L3D5 done. I'd better make up my mind about whether to get another DVD soon!

Thanks Errol for the good ideas, much appreciated. Sounds like I could mix it up a bit then to maintain the hopefully Wink new body!

Hi Sunny and welcome. I now have levels 2 & 3 of shred got first level on you tube and all 4 ripped levels only iPad. I've completed shred and first level of ripped. I plan to finish ripped then do shred level 3 again. After that I'm going to keep going but do the workouts randomly. When I get fed up I'll invest in some new workouts.

L3D6 done. I'm going to order ripped now.

Deeplybaffled-thanks for the tip. I did another day of level 2 yesterday then watched L3 afterwards to prepare. It did help. however, the superman move looked incredibly easy from the comfort of my sofa. I thought that (in my very experienced view:)) it looked like more of a level 1 move...Then I did it. it really hurts.
Couldn't believe there was a worse move than a squat thrust-roll in the mountain climber! Attempted the jumping lunge but wasn't able to keep the 'form'-my knee kept going over my toes, so did the Anita version. Couldn't do the rockstar move and the ballet move was hard too.

All in all, a struggle. Couldn't do loads of it but the good thing about posting on this thread is that looking back I felt like this moving up to level 2 so I'm hoping that in a week or so I am able to do a lot more!

Sunny, as you can see from my post, I don't think that after competing 30 days I am suddenly going to find it all easy so am sure if I do it again I will still be getting results! I do have Ri30 and BFBM as well (haven't done them yet, they were on offer on Amazon and I got carried away reading reviews and purchased them-a bit previous!) though so will see how I feel after doing the 30 days.

Will hope to join another threadlike this one whatever I do as I have found logging progress really motivating.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2013 21:06

I ordered this - haven't heard anyone mention the other DVDs in with the Ri30 but the killer buns and thighs (sounds like dodgy rolls and chicken...) mentioned flabby knees... a particular bugbear of mine, any jeans even vaguely skinny legged look terrible ( though tbf I've not tried any since starting shred).

I also ordered some 1.5kg weights as my 5lbers are really a bit much for some of the moves. I reckon you need a few sizes to get the most out of it.

Thanks, sleepy head 33 - reminding me how rubbish I felt at the start of level 2 has cheered me up and spurred me on to think I will get better at this one too! so a proper thank you as was feeling a bit demoralised at the fact I was dropping back to anitas part way through bits and actually had to stop the dvd altogether for a minute toget my breath back after one bit :(
we shall overcome!!!!! ( although jump lunges are the invention of the devil....)

Didn't manage to start L2 yesterday as I started clearing stuff up in my office... 6 hours later I realised I needed to go pick up DS from nursery and I'd forgotten lunch.

Will try it today!

L3D7 done.

deeply, if you're 'dropping back to anitas part way through' you're doing well... there's a few things I can't do the Natalie for long or at all.

The jumping lunges are odd... certainly can't jump both feet at the same time. I think I'm doing something sort of intermediate, and not attempting to keep pace exactly with them as need a bit more time to stabilise.

Report
deeplybaffled · 27/09/2013 13:51

Thanks, Errol - I think I got a bit cocky as by the end of level 2, I was doing mostly natalies - definitely not all, particularly in the double jump rope! - so was rather demoralised.
Think I will try slowing the jump lunges down as my knees ache today, and suspect that it is due to very poor form in those from trying to keep up. (and the stampy feet tantrums when I can't...)
Do you find that your hands ache when lifting the dumbell in plank and you are leaning on the other one? I seem to be doing what they do, but my supporting wrist isn't very happy with it. And i seem to have bruises from the side plank on my elbow, which can't be right, can it? (Am clearly malcoordinated wreck!)

Any advice very gratefully received. Think I will have tonight off to let knees settle a bit, and have guests tomorrow, so will try again on Sunday.

no - but I can see that might happen. Maybe the bit of windsurfing I've done has strengthened my wrists a bit ... I think they do feel stronger than they used to. I actually like that move and use my 3kg weights for it. The walking plank I can only do one or two nats a side before collapsing onto my knees and the travelling pushups... can't do a normal one yet.

Don't know about the elbow... is it maybe how you're getting into that position that's banging it?

Ah, glad to have helped deeplybaffled. You have helped me keep going just by setting up this thread. I had a night off Friday as my knees were also a bit achy. Did it again tonight and got through it (with some swaps-my knees will never take the jumping lunges!)-much the same as Thursday's efforts.

However, last night had a little confidence boost with the whole fitness thing which might help you if you're feeling demoralised. I ordered some of the other JM DVDs when they were on offer on Amazon. Well, BFBM had been staring at me for a while (I need to do some more cardio as I still have a good stone and a half to lose) but the reviews saying how hard it was has been putting me off. I thought I might have a go after another round of 30ds.
Anyway, I had a go last night and managed to complete the entire thing!!! OK, I did some modified versions at times but a lot less than I have to do with the 30ds-I am obviously better at cardio than strength! I was in a pool of sweat by the end but I was amazed to have completed it.

Back to shred tonight and definitely find it harder despite the shorter length so obviously need to keep doing it.

errol, I can't do the travelling push up either. I can still only do the anita version from level 1! I did manage a little dip when doing the level 2 versions but certainly no where near being able to move in position. I don't bother with the walking as up down is more than enough challenge for me!
