Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 22/12/2011 11:28

DH is rather keen on Natalie too. We've done the Shred together in the past and I'm sure she was his motivation. She is rather fab though. Not sure if the boobs are fake or not, I hadn't considered it. They are quite pert though.

Hope the leg feels better soon Liath!

stickyLFDTfingers · 22/12/2011 11:28

I don't think any of those girls have sufficiently supportive bras. If Natalie has spent money making her boobs round and perky, she'll be cross if in 10 years time she's all droopy (I wonder what happens if you have implants and then go droopy, perhaps like tennis balls in the bottom of a sock? Confused). These things have to be considered.

I wouldn't go near shops now. Do you really have to go?

alma are you not the one who's somewhere mid-Devon? And the shops are mad there too... My Mum and I used to go to the Pannier market in Barnstaple early on Christmas Eve to get the veg. It was always dark, and the market people were even jollier than usual. Happy memories! :)

bonkersLFDT20 · 22/12/2011 12:30

[smug] I booked my Tesco delivery to arrive tomorrow! Did have a wobble at the w/e though and trundled off to the real shop in person to get turkey, salmon, stuffing (from the deli..ha!) and Christmas pud and Babycham and Snowballs

Best thing, it's arriving at our cottage and as I won't be there yet, DH will be receiving the order for once

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 22/12/2011 12:39

Nice work Bonkers!

Sticky, I am in mid-Devon :) Barnstaple Pannier Market is lovely, my Mum goes there a lot. Although our rural town being 'busy' is a totally different ballgame to the cities being busy! I've lived here for a bit too long and get totally overwhelmed if I go somewhere with more than a handful of shops now.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 22/12/2011 12:41

AAAgghhhhh will wait till after lunch then may have a mooch down there. It's really just for fresh stuff, literally fruit and veg and a few extras. DH has said he's happy to do it tonight, but that will be after a hard day at work and I'm sat here on mumsnet! I can walk (good) but can't carry much due to having the little elves with me (bad).

On the other hand, my only chance of a run in the next two days is if I comes home, I go for a run, then he goes to the shops. When it will be quieter. Have to wait in tomorrow for giant telly to be delivered .

What do we think runner jury?

rhetorician · 22/12/2011 13:13

if you want a nice example of nurture over nature, I offer you marzipan - dd1 loves it, as well as marmalade, both things that make DP make a strange face

chaos here somehow - desperately trying to impose some order on the toys, the tottering piles of laundry etc etc etc. fanny do you fancy a quick trip away from your terrible trio? I have made a start by throwing all unfinished sticker books, bits of toys into the bin, and sorting the others at least into rough categories

cestlavie · 22/12/2011 13:35

shredme, could you go for a run then go to the shops?

Wheelybug · 22/12/2011 13:40

shredme - prioritise your run of course ! If he's offered then let him Grin but, why can't you run when he gets in if you go to the Shops now ? Or were you going to go when he gets in ?

rhet sorting out toys is my job for this evening. Can't do it when the girls are around as they'll start playing with things they haven't touched in 6 months and I'll feel we have to keep everything. But, given it's Christmas in 3 sleeps and then dd1's birthday in january and dd2 in
March we need to make space.

Well am surprisingly ahead on my list thanks to the fact I didn't get to the gym. Did make it to Costa though as dd1 needed cough medicine Wink. Gingerbread muffins baking in the oven as I type.

And... My prize has arrived - a nutrition pack is all sorts of gels and rehydration sachets and refuelling stuff of all sorts. Plus a water bottle. So quite useful and not a marketing ploy at all.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 22/12/2011 13:47

Love the fact that the run comes first Smile that's why I asked!

wheely I wouldn't be able to get everything now as I can't carry it all in the pushchair, but I could get half and spare DH a trip in the car. Am waiting for him to phone me back. But I'm thinking it may be best for him to get home, I go for a run, then he shoots off while I handle bedtime. Hmm yes - he prefers to miss bedtime so that may be best.

cestlavie · 22/12/2011 13:56

He prefers to miss bedtime shred! I love bedtime (though arguably cos I only do it 2 - 3 nights a week...) Good that you're going to get a run in.

Everyone here is sounding staggeringly festive and creative on the cooking front with their gingerbread muffins and houses and cakes... I was thinking of trying to stretch to chocolate truffles which I think is sufficiently technically simple that even the cat could attempt it

rhetorician · 22/12/2011 14:03

there was a very funny thread on here about gingerbread houses...I had notions of doing these with the dds when bigger (ha, ha ha). DD1 is currently doing collages with sparkly bits and cotton wool (which was destined for the baby's bum) of snowboys and father christmases. The upside of DP doing all the feeding is that she gets to do fun things with DD1 while I do the effing hoovering

The Brisbane guys want a cv, so I am going to have be arsed to actually put on the various things I do update it a bit

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 22/12/2011 14:03

I'm not sure I would be happy to accept feline-made truffles Cest think of all the fur.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 22/12/2011 14:06

Our cat used to leave many a little Christmas truffle for us ..... sadly now departed. Bless you poor old Paddy!

rhetorician · 22/12/2011 14:37

yes, think I might baulk (or boak) at a feline truffle too. OK folks, I am officially in mourning for my lack of running...I'm finding it really dispiriting not to see my weekly mileage clocking up - hardly above 25k for the last couple of weeks. I know, I know...

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 22/12/2011 15:42

Update - DH has been drinking since lunchtime. So not taking the car out tonight, clearly. He will have to bring stuff back on foot.

And I've just spent over an hour in the wasteland known as his study. Jesus wept. Was trying to find his P60s for the last four years as HMRC have decided he should have filled in tax returns for those years. Maybe if they hadn't been busy sending me tax returns to fill in - despite my having no income since 2005 - they would have realised this Angry. So that will be a nice January job for me, my tax return saying er nothing, and four for DH.

squix · 22/12/2011 15:59

Right ? tracked you down ? missed most of the last thread and nearly 500 posts on this one?.very ambitious if you think that this thread will last anywhere close to 31st . I am guessing there has also been some name changes recently too

Have been very busy trying to get stuff out the way in time for a break over the next few weeks. Also managed to fit in a trip to a Christmas show and as a treat SIL took us all to see the final of Strictly in 3D at the cinema. Finished off for today, out for Lunch tomorrow, then that?s me until the 5th Jan ? Hurrah ? really looking forward to the break.

I have managed to do some running though ? 8 ½ slow miles this morning, a hill session with the running club on Tuesday, 7 ½ miles on Saturday and I?ve also managed to do some Shred sessions too ? even a couple of doublers. I do find some of the upper body stuff tough going though. DH made the same comment about the lack of support that Gillian, Natalie and can?t remember the other one?s name have ? nowhere near enough. I almost fall over every time G tells me that Natalie is ?literally kicking herself in the butt?
Gingerbread house ? I have a ready made kit from amazon that we?ll crack open tomorrow morning

Hope new babies are doing well and injuries / illness are getting better

littlechiefrunnycustard- good to see you back ? I see you are doing the Smokies ? there are some of the guys from my running club doing that ? I might investigate further??

Oh and Sports Personality of the Year tonight (doesn't feel right that it's not on a Sunday), I think we should have put this thread forward for 'team of the year Xmas Grin

peachLFDTsmuggler · 22/12/2011 16:25

Am very intrigued by wheely's list! Sounds like it might be in tablet form like the ten commandments!! Tell me lady, do you have shares in Costa! ; )

am lying on sofa under K while DD1 and her friend play upstairs. Another advantage of quite a big age gap! DP out at interview but hoping he comes home soon to make me coffee Grin

Rhet, sorting out toys seems like advanced cleaning to me, we are barely keeping up with the laundry!!! I don't know how anyone who is vaguely anal about their house manages with a baby. fanny? how does it work???

Have managed to get a few clothes out for packing but various nits are still at bottomless pit of laundry pile drying. I need a PA.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 22/12/2011 16:29

shredme, how dare DH drink with impunity from lunchtime while you subsist on jam sandwiches at home. Tell him he needs to take a taxi to the 24 hour Tescos!!!

sfx, you mentioned garlic sprouts. Yum. My friend has a recipe where she shells them all then quickly pan fried them in butter and loads of garlic. Deeeeelish! I think most people are scarred by childhood experiences of boilthearseoutofthem sprouts where they taste all soapy and bogging.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 22/12/2011 16:31

The whole gingerbread house thing has passed me by. Is this a new thing at Xmas???

squix, have you been doing any more rowing?

futurity · 22/12/2011 16:37

squix I shall be voting for Mo Farah Smile

cestlavie · 22/12/2011 16:38

Toy culling sorting is degree level complexity... and god help you if a child stumbles across you whilst you're doing it:

Child: "Aaaaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhh sob why are you putting away/ out/ in the bin my favourite I love it sob"

Parent: "Because you haven't played with it since you were 9 months old and now you're 6 and I experience toy blindness* when I walk in here"

Child: "Sob wail sob but I want to play with it now!!!"

Cut to 6 year old child rolling on floor attempting to 'play' with a teething ring or something equally random

shredme am off to your local theatre tomorrow to enjoy the utter horror spectacle that is the pantomime. Please tell me there is a bar at the arena.

(*toy blindless being like snow blindness but caused by toys rather than snow)

peachLFDTsmuggler · 22/12/2011 16:43

Toy blindness Grin

Oooh the panto cest. Lucky lucky you!

cestlavie · 22/12/2011 16:46

I know peach - my joy is almost unconfined. Almost.

futurity · 22/12/2011 16:52

Behind you! (said in overly jolly panto type way)

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 22/12/2011 16:54

Yes cest there's a bar at the Arena ("it's behind yooooooo!"), not a bad theatre but there's always a bit of a bottleneck getting out. We didn't fancy it this year as I couldn't face Toyah Willcox lisping her way through the whole thing, but it's usually good. Couple of years ago we had Cannon and Ball and it was a bit - um - racy!

Love sprouts peach but they don't like me. I have to ration myself!

squix I must admit my shoulders really feel level 2, especially those chair squat/v-raise things. Always wibble at that bit.
