New thread everyone!

Rest for me today - just six days to go and I've woken with a sore throat .....

OP posts:
squix · 10/10/2011 22:38

wheely - looking forward to it, I think. Am looking forward to seeing dad and my Sister too. They will both be much faster than me, but we'll get a nice weekend together. Ankle ok - a few twinges now and agin but ok - how's yours?

Meant to say - was in Aldi today, buying Olive Oil ( highly recommend it - good quality and cheap) and they had lots of winter cycling stuff in ( reflective stuff, compression underwear, socks, gloves, tops, padded cycling tights) I don't know if it's a local thing but I thought I'd let all you cyclists know.

sfxmum · 10/10/2011 22:42

everyone goes on about the gear in Aldi I have no idea where the nearest one is, and I don't drive, expect it is some shopping park or something

Wheelybug · 10/10/2011 23:02

I don't think there is an aldi round these parts sfx but I only now run in lidl tights (capris and long) and have even set myself a reminder that thurs is running special day as I need some more long tights.

Wheelybug · 10/10/2011 23:04

squix its ok....not great but holding up. I think I may need to give it a bit of a rest after GSR before I get started on half training for feb. But if it continues as it is it'll be fine.

peachsmuggler · 11/10/2011 07:46

Good lord no, Moshi!!!!! And definitely not for Master, who would be chased by lions through the African plains in them!!'

yes no Aldi here either sfx, I think you are right they are normally in retail parks. There is a Lidl at Clapham Junction but I always forget about it....

N4NNY · 11/10/2011 07:59

I was at my running club last night I'm only doing the 3 mile group but as we reached the end we needed to get up a fuck off hill I thought I'm never going to get up there so I dug in and started thought let's get half way then stop and walk, got half way and shout in my head ( I'm new at group so didn't want to say it out loud) let's fucking do this and amazingly it worked and I got to the top and even managed to keep going to the very end of run. Def going to use that mantra again :)

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 11/10/2011 08:38

Just stopping by before starting work to say did anyone see this article on the bbc website

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15251624

In case my linking doesn't work ... she ran the Chicago marathon at 39 weeks pregnant then gave birth!!! 39 weeks!! Then gave birth !!!

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 08:51

Ladies I'm gonna have to pretend the last three days haven't existed on here as I can't keep up with you all!

N4NNY wow, that's one inspirational woman.

Moshi I like those running leggings. With a long sleeved plain black running top they'd look ace...! BlushGrin I intend on next years GNR (if I do it) to buy the maddest clubbing circa 1990 outfit ever. With a let's fucking do this t-shirt. Big fuck off fanny pack and Adidas shell toes and I'll be 16 again!

Ideas for logo - how's about a line up of men with knobs out and their piss spells LFDT....!?Grin

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 08:52

Grrr meant cherry instead of N4NNY!

N4NNY well done on usage of mantra!

futurity · 11/10/2011 09:15

:) Just popped on to post that same link..I love the way they say "Because she half-walked the race, she finished the 26.2 mile (42.16km) course in 6:25 - slower than her usual pace." ...like we expected her to do it in 3 1/2 hours or something!

sfxmum · 11/10/2011 09:31

Shock at pregnant marathon runner Grin

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 09:40

Ladies are you all like me, do you check news online every morning?! I always go on BBC and The Guardian thennnnn look at sleb goss on the god awful Daily Mail (it's like a car crash, I can't help but look Blush)

DebiTheScot · 11/10/2011 09:40

I've got a friend who ran right up to her due date in her first 2 pregnancies. She's now pg with twins but isn't running. I'll have to send her that link and tell her to get out there Grin

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 09:42

Debi she'll de-friend you!

futurity · 11/10/2011 09:43

fanny I check the Sky News app - then the Daily Mail website ..then The Sun! Need to be fully up to date with trash before I start the day :)

rhetorician · 11/10/2011 09:45

debi absolutely, tell her from us that she's a lazy mare :o

I usually check news most mornings - Irish Times and then Guardian. I used to be a news fiend, but I find the 24-7 nature of it a bit wearying.

See I told you we shouldn't let fanny loose on the logo! Just packing my stuff to run to work - the long route this morning, so some let's fucking do this will no doubt be uttered along the way

FairyBasslet · 11/10/2011 10:09

Re pregnant marathon lady, from Sky News, "Last May, she did the Wisconsin Marathon in 4:23:07 while 17 weeks pregnant with her daughter." Also "And two years ago, she ran the Indianapolis Marathon in 4:30:27 at 18 weeks pregnant with her son Caleb and also hiked up Machu Picchu".

I could hardly waddle 100 metres when 39 weeks pregnant far less run/walk 26.2 miles.

stickylittlefingers · 11/10/2011 10:22

She clearly employs the LFDT mantra to every aspect of her life! It's knackering just thinking about it.

Just come back from another thread: Silky Reflecting Tits is an anagram of SLF. I'm chuffed with that! So I'm off to try on lots of sports bras (including that sonic boom one) on them...

bonkers20 · 11/10/2011 10:54

I did put together a garden storage box at 39+ weeks. Surely that deserves a mention in the paper?!

MoshiMoshi · 11/10/2011 11:03

Last proper run today before Sunday's race. Some MP miles in there (ranging from 7:08-7:20m/m). Windy (outside not me) which made it seem extra effort. Also battling with a cold passed on by the DDs (DS never seems to succumb). Things are never straight forward are they? The stress of the move to San Francisco is really building up too. Last night we realised that none of our electrical items would work over there and we will have to replace everything. This move is getting very costly. I am hoping it is going to be worth it in the long run... I think I may have to employ the LJFDT mantra for my move too.

+1 for BBC News.

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 11:04

futurity a double dose of Rupert Murdoch influenced media would kill me off - go and wash your eyes with bleach forthwith until you see the light! However Daily Mail
allowed for MN thread purposes! Can't beat a good old "single mum on benefits let's crucify them" article in the DM for getting me riled in the morning AngryHmmGrin

fannybanjo · 11/10/2011 11:07

Moshi good lord - how you finding the energy to run and Envy at your MP miles!! You run 26 miles at that pace? Dear lord, I struggle with 10 minutes! Have you always ran good times or have you trained yourself from an average pace? I'm interested to know IF it could be done....!!

peachsmuggler · 11/10/2011 11:16

Christ alive!!! That pregnant marathon lady is mental amazing. I am a lazy hit by comparison. I DID run for a bus yesterday, while pushing DD in the pram. However that was over a distance of about 15 metres, not 26 miles...

You see N4NNY, it IS a magic mantra.

Loving the logo fanny, have you ever thought of working in advertising? Wink

Moshi, oof, lots to do I can imagine. Hope you are getting some help with all this!

Pawsnclaws · 11/10/2011 11:29

Oh sweet Lord. Have found a photo of me and friend running the marathon, not on the official site (photos not up yet) but on the website for one of the places we ran through.

OK I thought, not a bad photo - I mean I at least look like I'm running whereas usually my feet look firmly planted on the ground. Then I saw the caption:

"Entering the village under the watchful eye of St John's Ambulance"

Cheeky buggers! OK so I'm no elite athlete but there's no need to imply I looked that bloody rough!

Am on phone but will link as soon as I can. I'm the dumpy shortarse slightly shorter one, my friend is the skinny glamorous bitch tall slim lady next to me.

OP posts:
Hatwoman · 11/10/2011 11:31

sorry paws but am pmsl at that caption. marvellous!
