I see India are "caving in" to the EU and mandating USB-C as the required connector on new iShinys. I also see (or rather don't see) the Express exploding over this total evasion of a "brexit freedom".

If I was more mischievous, I would tweet s supremely thick MP to kick up a fuss over this betrayal. But it's at this point you finally understand what is meant by the tyranny of choice.

It's interesting to speculate on how this could happen. After all, it's a little like having a hidden "turbo" mode for the UK economy.

The trick will be finding a way to activate it without the panel light coming on.

But its simply not possible.. NI.. outside of SM and CU and no real means to re join either.
The EU do not want another Switzerland and we are too big for EFTA.

We ve also both parties refusing to even countenance the idea.

Brexit can't work.. never could... Thatcher recognised the importance of the SM (& EU) to the UK.

The red tape is as a result of leaving the EU, it can't meaningfully, be reduced.

Its incredible the UK can't see this basic truth..

I was watching Phil Moorhouse last night, on the scrapping of EU laws as proposed my Mogg et al.

He made the very valid observation that if the bill passes, it’ll effectively plunge businesses into a chaos never seen before, as there will effectively be zero regulation across many areas. Rule book ripped up, replaced by… oh we’ll get round to that at some point.

He reasoned that the markets will respond in such a way that makes the Truss experiment look like a walk in the park in comparison. I think he’s got a valid point.

The problem is the UK long ago passed the point where it was a given that sensible would kick in. If there had been any doubt the Truss experiment proved it.

So we are now in a sitaution where anything could - and probably will - happen. All bets are off.

Whatever happened to Mass Observation ? This really could be their chance to catch the build up to a revolution.

I would suggest it's no point discussing what Labout could do when they get in. It's entirely possible we won't see a peaceful election again.

Here we are.

The end of 2022. Won't be sad to see the back of it....unlike lots of tory cronies, ceos of oil companies or those whose covid loans fraud has been "wiped". Been a pretty good year for some.

I have no hopes for 2023 other than more of the same interspersed with royalist fervour in May and the return of De Pfeffle - the turd that will not flush.

A peaceful new year from me as well. I've managed to snag myself a new job just when I wanted one, so looking forward to the crazy life that is working in the NHS again. And also cats.
