Westministenders: Where's my milk and cheese?

The 'smooth' exit from transition now leads to a million and one little things that you can't get hold of or took completely for granted.

Why is sainsbury in NI selling spa milk? Why can't you get hold of your favourite food stuff?

Its a slow strangulation of the country.

In which you get to learn all about the merits of the EU and what a donkey Johnson really is.

Car prices up - but Ford Pumas and Fiestas, not BMWs and VWs.

Speaking to Autocar, a Ford UK spokesman confirmed the rise was “all to do with Brexit pricing” because some of the engine components used in the production of both models are sourced from the US.

Those components push the two models over the allowable limit on what proportion of goods can be assembled from parts made outside of the UK and EU for tariff-free access. Known as ‘rules of origin’, it could mean a number of other UK models assembled in the EU from components made elsewhere become significantly more expensive.

So much winning.

WatchedBotis in the liason committee questioning today. When questioned on Scottish fresh shellfish and NI he mentioned that if no cooperation and things getting difficult there was always Article 16. One in charge said it would have to be sorted at committee before that was evoked. So think Boris intention reneaging on deal.

TatianaBis · 13/01/2021 23:03

Brexit: Buy Briti- oh.

Peregrina · 13/01/2021 23:08

So he intends to renege on the Deal to make problems worse - but he will blame the EU for being difficult, of course.

Whereare
I find that picture even sadder
Schenker in front K&N behind Wagener in back
saddo knows the logos
three of the firms who have ridden all the storms

if Nobbie Dingledangle go (old telex code nudistG)

wherearemychickens · 13/01/2021 23:18

Well I'm off to google Nobbie Dingledangle...

Peregrina · 13/01/2021 23:18

Well, seven days to go and NI/RoI have a friend in the Whitehouse.
Trump has been impeached again - the only President to be impeached twice. He still has his fans though.

Peregrina · 13/01/2021 23:21

If you play Spot the Lorry and award points, then I believe there are two versions of Nobbie - a British version and a French version. I think you get more points for the French version.

ListeningQuietly · 13/01/2021 23:27

Whereare
Exactly. Lovely guys. The stories I could tell !!!!

Biden is not going to have much time to think about the Irish.

The new strain is yet to take off properly in the US. And he has a civil war to head off.

2021 is going to be ugly for the US. Im not expecting much in the way of international diplomacy for a while from Biden.

Oh more complex than I thought for our Norbert. But I can't even be bothered to look out for the names on Eddie Stobart trucks either.

SabrinaThwaite · 13/01/2021 23:46

I’m sure Norbert Dentressangle used to write a lot of letters to Viz. Along with his mate Hapag Lloyd of Runcorn.

HannibalHayes · 13/01/2021 23:54

I remember from years decades ago, a question in the Guardian's "Notes and Queries" section, "Who is Norbert Dentrassangle, and why does he have so many red trucks?"

SwedishEdith · 13/01/2021 23:55

This from Loch Fyne Langoustines is a bit heartbreaking. (Claims he didn't vote.)

HilaryThorpe · 14/01/2021 06:16

DAG on Twitter has said Brexit is summed up by "taking back control" of fishing and then being unable to sell the fish.

Chersfrozenface · 14/01/2021 07:34

Has someone already linked to another source with this news on the Stena ferry running from Rosslare to Cherbourg instead of Belfast to Liverpool as originally intended?

www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-55655631

I know people slate the BBC for publishing these stories now, when there have been warnings since the Referendum that such things would happen. However, to be fair, until 1 January 2021 there were always accusations of speculation, scaremongering and crystal-ball-gazing and cries of "You're saying it could happen, you can't know that it will happen" so I can understand why the Beeb stayed schtum. Now these are real events and reporting them can't be described as speculation.

Peregrina · 14/01/2021 09:08

I see the change of route for the Ferry was described as 'temporary', but I could easily see that if the demand holds up, it will become permanent. Who after all wants to have customs formalities at Liverpool/Holyhead/Fishguard and then again at Folkstone/Dover when they can bypass them altogether? Michael Gove's statements about red tape making firms 'match fit' were obviously not very persuasive.

I noted one of the comments said that he voted Remain but this is bypassing the democratic will. Tosh. Brexit has happened; if that really was what the democratic will was then the mandate has been discharged. Stena are a commercial firm and will go where the demand is, and if the democratic will has caused it to move away from GB - tough.

Shrillharridan · 14/01/2021 09:24

The owner of Loch fyne langoustines may not have voted but he re tweeted many pro brexit tweets.
So.
No sympathy.
Fuck em.

@SwedishEdith - "Claims he didn't vote"

However, he seems to have campaigned for it!

I'll reserve my sympathies for others...

Peregrina · 14/01/2021 09:40

Farage will split the Tory vote, even in Scotland? Well, bring it on.
