Twenty thousand people
Cross Bösebrücke
Fingers are crossed
Just in case
Walking the dead

Where are we now, where are we now?
The moment you know, you know, you know

Just that.

Don't really want to reflect more than that right now.

Demo of a different nature in Sunderland.

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/nissan-campaigners-gather-outside-sunderland-18401331

Personally, I am going to hazard a guess that the UKs "strategy" is going to be to try to bully the smaller countries that have an FTA with the EU into duplicating them to the letter for the UK. Basically an extension by another name.

About 2 days into this strategy, someone will point out that it won't work.

I am still fuming at the fucking brass neck of Boris even imagining trying to tell me what I should and should not be doing about anything - let alone express my political views. I with Dom on this one, and doing as I damn well please. Fucking fucker.

DGRossetti · 13/06/2020 08:25

You know what to do ... you can make up details.

DGR - Done.

DGRossetti · 13/06/2020 08:35

It's a shame there's already people using "What would Dom do ?" as a title on the internet. It's really how people should think in future.

Pussycatinboots · 13/06/2020 08:37

DGR - Done too, shame you can't make helpful "suggestions" Grin

Peregrina · 13/06/2020 08:38

It's very hard to sympathise with the people of Sunderland over Nissan - I well remember that their management warned them of the likely consequences of a Leave vote. Of course, at the time, 'No one is talking about leaving the Single Market' as Daniel Hannan said, so people really did think we could have our cake and eat it - another round of concessions for the UK.

To be fair to them, now that we are talking about No Deal, Sunderland returned a Labour MP at the last election - so they didn't buy the Tory promises.

Pussycatinboots · 13/06/2020 08:40

On January 1, 2021, we will take back control and regain our political & economic independence. How can they lie so easily? Still? I actually thought a bit more of Gove. Not much more, but a bit.

Remember, Gove is Dominants bestest mate. He'll do what he's told - including selling BJ down the river when it becomes necessary.

You can't bring a dead cat back to life once you've killed it. The science doesn't exist.

The voters in Crewe didn't - they switched from Labour to Conservative...

Funkycats · 13/06/2020 09:07

Delurking to say thanks as always, and have done the survey DGR posted.

DrBlackbird · 13/06/2020 09:07

Done DGR. Probably tracking us all now Wink.

Is there any chance that Johnson and co will quietly agree to a deal with the EU sticking to the WA?? Whilst loudly insisting to the British public that they made the EU 'roll over' because of their tough bargaining tactics vis their refusal to ask for an extension??

Or is it the hope that kills you?

prettybird · 13/06/2020 09:17

I did the survey in my dead mother's name Wink I also went in to the cookie settings and made sure that everything possible was switched off (there were a few sneaky ones in the ones that didn't look as if they were toggled) before accepting the cookie preferences.

mrslaughan · 13/06/2020 09:23

So DH and I were talking about lack of boarder checks ......
One thing that he believes this means is that car parts coming from Europe into the uk will not have the correct paperwork, for the subsequent cars to then be exported to Europe......

Thoughts?

mrslaughan · 13/06/2020 09:27

..... oh, and there is also the pesky issue of the US Congress......
Because I can't believe this is good for the island of Ireland......
And claiming it was the mean EU is not going to wash with them.......

Peregrina · 13/06/2020 09:36

I did the survey in my dead mother's name

I combined the names of two of my cats, and then made up an email address to correspond. Funnily enough, I haven't had an email in reply to say 'thank you'.

Peregrina · 13/06/2020 09:38

The voters in Crewe didn't - they switched from Labour to Conservative...

I trust that they are happy with the redundancies then, because by taking a gamble on the Johnson Government, they are getting what they voted for.

DGRossetti · 13/06/2020 11:54

They might discount replies from email addresses that they can't contact. I know if I wanted a sneaky way to harvest real live user data, I'd ping an email to the address under the guise of a "someone has filled in a survey using this email address. Click here if it was you" sort of thing. That would also exclude the trouble makers.

I'll see what drops into my moron trap over the next few days.

If only they could apply the same level of design to government IT eh ?

DGRossetti · 13/06/2020 12:01

One thing that he believes this means is that car parts coming from Europe into the uk will not have the correct paperwork, for the subsequent cars to then be exported to Europe......

That's if there are any exports to Europe worth talking about.

I know if I were running a company in the EU, I would do my level best (egged on by over cautious compliance officers) to remove 3rd countries from my supply chain.

3rd country ?

Yes - like what the UK is. That is below any of the countries the EU does have a trade deal with.

I know from a former life in manufacturing, that exposure to a 3rd country would be considered a high risk and would require appropriate compensating controls if there was no other way.

As always, anyone care to check my working ?

GeistohneGrenzen · 13/06/2020 12:06

PMK and have also filled in the survey with truthful but minimal information i.e. no postcode as that wasn't starred as mandatory, and no ticking the box for further info re their future shenanigans although I was sorely tempted, because I read their privacy t&c first! Also completely ignored the cookie clicker. Survey seemed to go through - no thanks as yet but do we really need any?

AuldAlliance · 13/06/2020 12:34

PMK with an enviably relaxed feline. Am finding it hard to watch UK events from a distance, TBH. Thanks and strength to all.

MockersGuidedByTheScience · 13/06/2020 12:39

"Do you support strengthening our immigration system?"

Who on Earth would support weakening it.

At least Priti hasn't got a counterimmigration policy.

Yet.

mrslaughan · 13/06/2020 12:56

I think he would agree with you - if you are in the car industry why would you even bother to try and make it work

DGRossetti · 13/06/2020 13:10

I think he would agree with you - if you are in the car industry why would you even bother to try and make it work

Big Bungs ?

I am under no illusion that this government would happily steal the bread and health and learning from future generations just to pump a few billion into "making Brexit work". Probably by underwriting any losses external (not UK) companies make by doing business with UK companies. Probably whilst simultaneously whinging about state aid for competitors.

There's a wonderful quote from a Japanese businessman, (related by Gore Vidal) who was asked about what Japan looked forward to getting from Britain as Thatcherism took hold in the 80s. He replied (rather perplexed)

The only thing we need from Britain is her language. And we've already taken that

It's possible Britain has given all it needs to give to the world ? Unless we can export self serving, self abusing, mendacious unscrupled immoral lying cheating criminal politicians. But it seems there is either a world glut or no demand. Because we've been trying for years to shift the fuckers, and they're still here.
