Saying goodbye to the EU

Am listening to Radio Five Live and one of the topics is what would you say in your goodbye to the EU?

Mine would be - relived to an EU country passport holder and remain as a supporter of the EU. Hoping that the UK will rejoin.

Last nights Leavers who haven’t a clue what they voted for

Another I know best statement

What has leaving the EU got to do with pride?

You obviously didn’t see the turnout in Parliament Square last night. Very similar to the scenes after UK won the Falklands war.

malylis · 01/02/2020 10:26

They haven't a clue what they voted for, they can't explain what they have won.

Its funny as fuck.

jasjas1973 · 01/02/2020 10:27

Don't be fucking ridiculous! at best around 2 or 3 thousand people, hardly VE day...

Brexit isn't a military victory but the fact is many Leavers see it as such which is why most of them are as thick as two short planks.

Parker231 · 01/02/2020 10:30

Why is my comment - “another I know best”? Those interviewed couldn’t explain why they had voted leave .

I did see the coverage from last night (live in central London but avoided Parliament Square last night) - not my idea of being proud. It similar to those who say leaving the EU is taking back control.

Another remainers know best statement

MysteryTripAgain · 01/02/2020 10:31

So 17.4 million were interviewed?

MysteryTripAgain · 01/02/2020 10:33

Democracy was preserved yesterday. Without democracy decisions are made in the basis of who has the most effective weapons.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 10:34

@MysteryTripAgain what are the benefits of Brexit then?

malylis · 01/02/2020 10:35

"so 17.4 million were interviewed?"

No but 99 percent of leave voters interviewed on air or in print since the referendum state the same poorly thought out, factually incorrect, learned by rote reasons, you can extrapolate from that.

Topseyt · 01/02/2020 10:35

I apologise for the fact that so many of my countrymen are so deluded.

I'll be back if I can, and will visit plenty.

That's what I say.

MysteryTripAgain · 01/02/2020 10:41

Some thought the 6 million plus who signed the petition last year could be extrapolated for the entire UK and it proved that people had changed their minds and Brexit should be cancelled. Incorrect logic as demonstrated by fact that Boris won a big majority last year.

I don’t know how many leavers were interviewed, but guess that it was a lot less than 6 million. So if 6 million claims be extrapolated what makes you think that those who were interviewed can be extrapolated?

TheGreatWave · 01/02/2020 10:45

An interesting read.

Democracy was preserved. Without democracy difference of opinion is resolved by violence.

Uncertainty is over as evidenced by Sterling has stabilised and gained slightly against the Euro.

UK free to approach any county in the world for trade talks.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 11:02

@MysteryTripAgain so 3 things. 2 of which weren’t relevant at the time of the vote.

And we can trade with anyone we want! The US (for the NHS) and errr, the EU? 😂

MysteryTripAgain · 01/02/2020 11:10

so 3 things. 2 of which weren’t relevant at the time of the vote.

Which are the 2?

And we can trade with anyone we want! The US (for the NHS) and errr, the EU?

Boris is talking about; US, EU and Japan.

Is this bloke in Parliament Square in black-face?? From the BBC news website.

He's a well known face round Parliament Square
He's a black man who supports Brexit
Really quite weird that you would leap to a 'must be blackface' conclusion Confused

BlouseAndSkirt · 01/02/2020 11:44

Not really, because depending on your device and how clear the picture the white glasses he wears make it look like black face make up.

We had to look twice and we are a multi-racial family.

Well aware that Brexit supporters include a diversity of people, thank you.
