Westminstenders: Massive Rightwing Plot?

Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

‘They couldn’t spell Pinocchio if they tried’

Neatly sidestepping the fact that this was calling his son a liar, which we all know he is.

I missed the LBC interview - he must have come across as charming though - as that was discussed in the 5 minutes I heard of the following show.

Verylucky2 · 29/11/2019 14:03

@Peregrina, Gisela (sp?) Stewart. She said: "voting Tory this once doesn't make you a Tory, so I urge you all to vote for Boris to get Brexit done".

JustAnotherPoster00 · 29/11/2019 14:07

Ah no one credible then

Verylucky2 · 29/11/2019 14:12

I don't know enough, to know whether or not she's credible.
I started off a Labour voter, and am probably what others would class as a floating voter, but having Corbyn in power is my worst nightmare, so I won't be voting Labour until he's gone.

I'll vote for whichever candidate is most likely to beat my Labour candidate, which will probably mean voting Tory.

Thanks @JustAnotherPoster00 for the encouraging new poll info Grin

And thanks @DGRossetti for the hilarity!

Verylucky2 · 29/11/2019 14:21

Tbh, I'm so disillusioned with the lot of them that I usually avoid all mention of politics on the TV, etc.

There's not really a single party to vote for; they're all just out for themselves. It's very disheartening.

Apileofballyhoo · 29/11/2019 14:21

Why is Corbyn your worst nightmare, Verylucky?

Peregrina · 29/11/2019 14:25

I started off a Labour voter, and am probably what others would class as a floating voter, but having Corbyn in power is my worst nightmare, so I won't be voting Labour until he's gone.

Quite honestly, this astounds me, and I am not a Labour voter. There is much in the Labour manifesto which would benefit the majority of people. The current incarnation of the Tory party will only benefit the wealthy, but people who are not wealthy still think they can risk a vote for them. They will have a rude awakening, I think.

TheElementsSong · 29/11/2019 14:25

Gosh. My worst nightmares tend to include loved ones getting hurt, house burning down, sometimes tentacles-blood-gore, etc.

Incident on London Bridge. Shots fired

QueenOfThorns · 29/11/2019 14:30

Gosh. My worst nightmares tend to include loved ones getting hurt, house burning down, sometimes tentacles-blood-gore, etc.

Mine too (except for the tentacles part - is this Gove related?). Or the one about being naked in public Blush

tobee · 29/11/2019 14:30

Speculation that police have shot someone with a knife.

But just speculation so far

Gisela Fucking Stuart: "voting Tory this once doesn't make you a Tory, so I urge you all to vote for Boris to get Brexit done". Angry

A vote for Boris does make you a Tory. How fucking disingenuous can she get? Confused If she don't believe that Labour's proposed confirmatory referendum will be won by those that "want Brexit done", then she's essentially saying she doesn't give a fuck what people think.

Peregrina · 29/11/2019 14:44

Meanwhile more duplicity from Johnson. Not that it will deter Tory supporters - they were happy to vote for a liar and a cheat as PM, so why should more evidence of such change their behaviour?

DGRossetti · 29/11/2019 14:48

Gisela Stuart: "voting Tory this once doesn't make you a Tory,

Well, Gisela dear, by the same token, voting Labour this once doesn't make you a communist does it ? Your brain can do so much more than keep your ears apart, if you aspire to it.

InMySpareTime · 29/11/2019 14:51

So apparently BoJo has never lied in his career😂😂😂.
Ok, yeah, right!

Bit early for the random terrorist attack poll boost, surely ? Or are things going that bad. Will a rolled up copy of the Labour manifesto be found on him ?

Ellie56 · 29/11/2019 15:17

DGR Grin Grin

PeninsulaPanic · 29/11/2019 15:32

I wondered pretty much the same, DGR and sadly I expected some sort of 'terror' incident during the GE campaign. Bastards

Lucygoeswalkies · 29/11/2019 15:33

Re DGR extreme cynic mode - did anyone notice that the tweet from Boris Johnson to the BBC about the London Bridge incident appears to have been sent at 7.09am?

I wish I’d taken a photo of the TV at that point, because I did a double take at that one.

Lucygoeswalkies · 29/11/2019 15:37

Ok. I’ve checked google for that tweet and the timing now reads 15.09. It definitely read 7.09 when I saw it first. The only reason I even noticed was because it seemed so odd. Hey ho.
