Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

yy songs "I lost hope once I realised Labour weren't going to get rid of Corbyn.."

It should be a far closer race than it is. But Momentum have put a stop to that Sad. I'm ferociously left wing but he's a nightmare.

Who do you feel would do a better job?

Danetobe · 27/11/2019 19:29

This might be too early to be thinking of this but just to be prepared... how should one watch the election night results as they are announced from outside the UK. I can't get live BBC tv but will there be some streaming online does anyone know? I can follow the live update feed thing on the BBC website but it would be nice to watch some commentary and footage if anyone has any tips it would be much appreciated.

Should be a landslide!
It does make you wonder what game Montentum is playing.

What game are they playing? Ive never been asked to play it

HoneyandSpice · 27/11/2019 19:39

@ARoomWithoutADoor I'm not far away from you. Geographically, as well as politically.
I possibly posted too soon in the thread, but my 'local' Brexit Party candidate is in Australia!

ARoomWithoutADoor · 27/11/2019 19:40

BCF I likes your scalometer

HoneysuckIejasmine · 27/11/2019 19:42

Rather entertained by the C4 news reporting live from a Labour event in Falmouth. Speaking loudly surrounded by voters. If looks could kill the correspondent would have dropped dead! I'm surprised no-one interrupted him to tell him to be quiet!

ARoomWithoutADoor · 27/11/2019 19:43

HoneyandSpice I pm'd you.

chomalungma · 27/11/2019 19:43

It ain't over till it's over

Tactical voting will make a difference

tobee · 27/11/2019 19:44

Momentum (and Labour) aren't interested in being ruthless enough to win. As many a pp has said, the Tories are interested in winning at all costs. Then they decide policy. Labour traditionally spend hours wrangling the policy. Actually getting elected and being able to enact that policy is almost an afterthought.

You might think that that makes Labour laudable, but they are up against a cut throat party who abandon morality to get what they want. You might think Johnson is alone in being a pathological narcissist in the party but they are plenty of others working with him, and voters too.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 27/11/2019 19:46

I personally admire Corbyn for the fact that he's never got personal with his opponents, he argues on policy not personality

tobee · 27/11/2019 19:47

Ok Just what would you say Momentum's aim is in its widest possible sense? What's their aim for this general election? I'm not intending to be goady, just wanting to know the Momentum stance. Is it simply support Corbyn?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 27/11/2019 19:49

Momentum is nothing but a vehicle of support for Corbyn and wider Labour, they co-ordinate activists and grass root supporters into constituencies to help the Labour candidate there, I'm sure there are some MP's openly hostile to Corbyn wouldnt get their support on the ground, like Corbyn their boogeyman status has been grossly over egged

HeyNotInMyName · 27/11/2019 19:50

PMK

MockersFactCheckMN · 27/11/2019 19:51

Momentum are a bunch of middle-class North London dinner party wankers who wouldn't know a working-class voter from a yeti.

colouringinpro · 27/11/2019 19:54

James Melville on Twitter not encouraging.

What's with the Cummings "i t'll be close? Making sure all the Tory voters get out?

Westminstenders: Massive Rightwing Plot?
Violetparis · 27/11/2019 19:56

I won't be surprised by a big Tory majority sadly, expecting lots of Labour seats lost in the North and Midlands.

HoneyandSpice · 27/11/2019 20:02

@Violetparis I'm not expecting my 'posh' North East seat to be lost to Conservatives. My Labour MP has been here too long, and done so much to help local people.

feellikeanalien · 27/11/2019 20:02

A room I'm in Berwick constituency as well and I saw somewhere that it was between Labour and Tory which really surprised me. I think it may have been on the Labour candidate's website so not sure how accurate it is.
The only reason which makes me think it might be the case is that that there could be a lot of leavers in the constituency who would not vote Lib Dem but I can't see how that would increase the Labour vote.
