Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

And the children of single mothers are “ill-raised, ignorant, aggressive and illegitimate”.
I can't help wonder if his view has been formed based on some of his own kids, assuming he can figure out how many there are Wink

Oooo Just I like a quiz. We could have a question a day for advent!

It was our esteemed role model
and leader, the successful applicant from the shortlist applying for the top job in the land.

BigChocFrenzy · 29/11/2019 07:32

Ah but poster it's different when the Tories attack the "wrong kind" of Jew
i.e. any Jewish people or businesses who get in the way of their policies

https://ucl-brexit.blog/2019/09/05/jacob-rees-moogs-alarming-cry-of-illuminati/

As a historian of antisemitism who has published on the stereotype of “Jewish criminality” used by the Nazis and their accomplices, it was extremely unsettling for me to hear Rees-Moog castigate his opponents,

particularly his two fellow Tories of Jewish background, Sir Oliver Letwin and Speaker John Bercow, as “Illuminati who are taking the powers to themselves.”

< JRM of course repeatedly refused to apologise, but that's ok >

BigChocFrenzy · 29/11/2019 07:33

Say what you like about Jo Swinson, but at least we can be sure she knows how many kids she's had Grin

We hear that Boris Johnson visited us today

We hope those affected are offered the help and support they need

We also hope they scrubbed the floors and changed the locks so he doesn't come back

Just remembered that it’s the Daily Mail that’s guaranteed to turn your brain to mash. Fact.

BigChocFrenzy · 29/11/2019 08:07

BJ is always available for Laura K to do one of her fawning pieces
It's just the professionals he avoids

Not every broadcaster will be like the BBC and edit video to whitewash BJ's mistakes
Gove trying to bully, what a surprise

Chris Cook@xtophercook

Broadcasters are under no obligation to outsource ed control to the parties, even during an election.

Ch4/ITN invited a politician on.
He said no. Fin.
Broadcasters tend not to like showing they've been rejected, but there should be more willingness to empty-chair, not less.

BigChocFrenzy · 29/11/2019 08:08

There should indeed be consequences ... for a PM who chickens out of debates

At least C4 aren't letting him get away with it

I'd say the same for any leader who is too chicken or too up himself

Greykitten · 29/11/2019 08:12

"if having a baby out of wedlock meant sure-fire destitution on a Victorian scale, young girls might indeed think twice"

The quotes from that article are astonishing.

From a man who has had an unknown number of children out of "wedlock".

You wouldn't put this person in charge of cleaning the floors in a primary school. WTAF is he doing in charge of a major political party?

Greykitten · 29/11/2019 08:14

(PS have name changed but am a regular)

JustAnotherPoster00 · 29/11/2019 08:14

Useful idiot I dont doubt

prettybird · 29/11/2019 08:18

Interesting logic from BJ/the Conservatives/his election strategy team.

Complain bitterly about the Ch4 debate because they refused to allow his dad an alternative "leader" (it wasn't even the current Environment Secretary Confused) so that the debate wasn't "balanced" - yet are ok about the other leaders having been interviewed by Andrew Neill and BJ not getting his chance HmmConfused

Hypocrites. Angry

But they have succeeded in their objective of ensuring that the content of what was debated is not being discussed and instead it's about who was or wasn't there. Sad

Although maybe that's as well as I'm not sure Corbyn did as well as he could have done Wink. Brandishing the brochure wasn't a good look.

Greykitten · 29/11/2019 08:20

He's not an idiot, unfortunately.

He's a bigoted, sexist, undisciplined, impulsive man who owes his position to privilege and patronage.

PeninsulaPanic · 29/11/2019 08:23

@JObriensbollox

All that was covered and discussed earlier in the thread, but don't let that stop you!

FYI, the ice sculpture spoke eloquent volumes about the kind of politician BJ is - cold, transparent, slippery, and dangerous to life and limb

prettybird · 29/11/2019 08:23

Ok - I'll let BJ off the "sending his dad" argument as it was Channel 4 that invited him. Smile

And I had a brain fart about Michael Gove not being the current Environment Secretary - but he is not the Leader even if he wants to be Blush

BigChocFrenzy · 29/11/2019 08:25

"WTAF is he doing in charge of a major political party? "

A major cause of the crisis the last 3 years - and the crises we will face for several years - is how irresponsible most MPs have been, including those at the top

Many Tory MPs despise BJ:

"You can always rely on Boris to let you down"
< that's MPs, not his exes >

However, despite this, they still voted him into the last 2, because they thought he would save their seats in a GE
Party before country, seat before everything.

Cameron irresponsibly called a referendum purely for internal party reasons, because he assumed the results would be Remain

Some moderate Labour MPs voted to nominate Corbyn - they were virtue-signalling and assumed he would be heavily defeated

Swinson is a poor leader, but at least the LDems have the reasonable excuse that they were very limited for choice with the small pool of MPs they then had

JustAnotherPoster00 · 29/11/2019 08:25

I thought it could also be taken as a commentary on the creation of wealth, slowly trickling down while the climate burns because of it
