Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Oh, I would! I would love to waggle my stupendously rich bejewelled finger at him.

@Epicwaffle , it's just that the things I see on here where customers complain about dismissiveness and disdain on Westminsterenders threads are pretty much what any non-Leave poster can get posting on here.

Majority of Remain voters who post on MN don't all love Corbyn either so I'm not sure why many on here seem to think they do.

I'll sometimes get into it with customers on here but mostly I keep off.

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 09:53

But then, I have never claimed to be ‘in my right mind’ GrinGrinGrinWine

Sorry you feel like that @bellinisurge.

My observation is that some of our knarlier posts are usually a defensive response to other nonsense that’s directed here (and has been FOR YEARS). But as I have said before, I am seeing things through my own Lens.

Again, we are leave leaning in this pub, so naturally anyone who isn’t will find some of our posts disagreeable I guess.

You can’t please all of the people all of the time imo.

I’m happy with this place mostly, and I’m sorry to hear that you feel differently. Wine

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 10:03

Sorry, that should say, ‘largely’ leave leaning, as I appreciate we have some lovely remainers here too!

25 minutes between posting here & elsewhere #JustSaying

Bucket of scamp fries for guessing correctly which was first 😉

I'm happy to have a laugh & dick around with anyone & everyone - also more than happy to debate & discuss things which challenge my bias.

For me personally, there's a handful of posters I've muted - not because they've different views but because they've been personally offensive to me or others on several occasions.

I'll always give peace a chance initially, but I tire very quickly of being a verbal punchbag

🙏 🕯

Thanks @Epicwaffle . Just wanted to point out that the thing the other "side" gets accused of also seems to happen on here.
But it's no surprise to anyone that we are struggling to reconcile. Grin

“Thanks @Epicwaffle . Just wanted to point out that the thing the other "side" gets accused of also seems to happen on here.”

Yeah, I did kind of break my own rule there didnt I? Grin but it’s just so hard (poor little ol’ me Grin) to be constantly referred to as a thoughtless stereotype for years without biting back at times! (Not by you obvs! )

I will try harder. Wink

Just a little tip folks. Should we find ourselves living in a post corbyn world, I reckon we request the jam factory jobs, as these would likely be the most favoured workers. We might get special privileges, like extra rations and a monthly unsupervised visit to participate in the two minutes hate.

🌹✊ solidarity comrades.

I was rather hoping for a job in the baked beans factory in Corbyworld, myself. It's the inevitable power cuts, you see. The great thing about baked beans is that you can eat them hot, you can eat them cold...

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 12:00

Rather you than me Lily, I have an irrational phobia of cold beans. I’m sticking With Jezza’s Jam! 😂 So many great options though, what an exciting new world it could be!

As PM, I think (hope) he'll lead a one nation Tory party, if he succeeds.

I agree, XingMing. The Conservative Party of late hasn't been in any way a good fit with my political beliefs but it's the nearest, and if Boris stays true to his classic liberal principles, I'll be happy.

Parker231 · 06/11/2019 12:37

If you want Boris’s rubbish Brexit deal, more austerity and ongoing reduction of public services , vote Tory.

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 12:43

I’ve gone one better Parker! I’ve donated! GrinWink

Because.

  1. The Brexit deal is not rubbish imo.
  2. They have clearly stated that austerity is over.
  3. They have made commitments to increase much needed public spending.
OP posts:
yolofish · 06/11/2019 12:49

The thing is, I don't believe a single word that any of them say.

Johnson: spending spree, hmm, vote for meeeeee and end austeriteeee despite fact that he voted for it.

Corbyn: spending spree, share the love (although it's a more appealing message but then I'm not super-rich with offshore funds...)

Swinson: I am the bestest potential PM you'll ever find (but not heard any actual policies yet).

They're all fucking bonkers! red Wine please landlady!

Parker231 · 06/11/2019 12:51

The Tory promises are the same each election but they don’t deliver - don’t be fooled that things will get better.

I’m not, but, they are the only ones near capable of delivering brexit and actually achieving what they say they can. Once brexit is sorted, and if they haven’t delivered on their other promises? In 5 years time, I change my vote at the ballot box. Smile

Welcome Wynona and hello everyone else, I'll have a Wine too please Epic

Is there an Election 2019 topic anywhere?

Yes, it's all spin, it's all smoke and mirrors. 'Twas ever thus. This time around it's even more interesting, with social media playing an ever-bigger role.

And it's not as simple as Leave vs Remain. I know a few Labour Leavers and Conservative Remainers, all of whom are casting their votes in different ways and with different reasons.

Exactly. It's the foundation of democracy.

Those who govern us should remember that they do so only for a limited period and with our consent. They are permanently "on probation". And yes, I know all about the Burkean view of representative democracy. However, it seems to me that the outgoing crop of MPs have just plain forgotten that they are meant to represent their constituents in Parliament, not represent Parliament in their constituencies. A sharp reminder has been overdue for some considerable time.

In the last few days, I've been waving a fond farewell to so many of them on TV from the comfort of my sofa.

Can't promise I waved with all of my fingers though. Smile

I think it's a good deal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hollycatberry · 06/11/2019 15:15

BBC reporting that Labour have banned three candidates from standing including the awful Chris Williamson. Thank heavens, I find his views repulsive so am glad he can no longer stand.
