Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Most people I speak to are already heartily sick of the election, and aren't bothering to read the papers or watch the news. Although there are quite a lot of don't-knows out there, I wonder if any of them will make a decision, or will they just not vote?

Obviously there could be huge game-changing events between then and now, but at the moment I reckon the next 5 weeks will be same old, same old on repeat.

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 15:27

I'm not avidly following it at all Limer

I know how I'm voting already - entirely based on Brexit - so there's no persuading involved for me this time

I'll follow out of mild interest & when the manifestos come out but other than that it's just a waiting game til Election Day & 🍿 for any spats along the way

Election night will be a nail biter though!!!
I'll hopefully be able to book a day off for the Friday 🤞

Will be following election night threads on MN defo 🍷🍷🍷

Also glad that Chris Williamson has been ousted Holly 😊

Hollycatberry · 06/11/2019 15:28

To be honest, I am a bit sick of it already too. But its a continuation of the behaviour of the outgoing MPs in Parliament. Just feels like more of the same but outside the commons.

Maybe I'm lucky because my mind is made up voting wise, but those who aren't sure how they will vote might just stay away as they'll be completely fed up in 6 weeks time and switch off from the 'noise',

I think the problem with the current environment is the fake news, smears, allegations, willful misquoting and misrepresenting, combative behaviour. It all plays to the woke crowds on Twitter that arm chair retweet and revel in the drama. That's before you even get onto analysing the policy pledges. It's just exhausting try to see through it all.

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 15:32

Not sure if I fancy the jam factory Epic 🤔

I'm an outdoorsy person so may be happier toiling in the govt approved allotments

I shall get on Amazon before Jezza bans it to order some soviet era head scarves

✊ 🌹

Limer · 06/11/2019 15:46

I'm looking forward to election night too Dusty Will stay up as long as I want - maybe all night, depending on what happens! I might need to get some rest before I get carted off to toil in the jam factory with the masses. Grin

Good point too about the fake news etc Holly Lots of people deliberately avoid/ignore anything political, and these days it's easier than ever. Shape your social media to your own taste, switch over when the news comes on, click somewhere else when you see a political item.

I defend the right of people not to vote, but I do think it's a pity when they've simply not bothered to find out if there's anything worth voting for.

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 16:13

“I shall get on Amazon before Jezza bans it to order some soviet era head scarves”

any chance of a brexit arms multibuy? 🤔

Agree with all of you. I am rapidly losing the will to live with it all now. 3/12 years ago I earnestly voted for Brexit, Parliament/the media/outside interference have dicked around enough to fuck it up royally. So here we are at an election that no one really wants, but we clearly need. It’s exhausting and depressing and as we are heading for E day, I suspect the whole sorry debacle will completely jump the shark soon and exponentially become more stupid.

I’m keeping a tiny toe in, but that’s it. Will defo be here still and watching on Election night, and I desperately hope that on the 13th we have a majority government that can finally push us all onward! Because anything else would be an utter nightmare, for everyone.

I’m tired, but I will stick around here where possible, even if just to dish out wine, terrible puns and the odd daft meme. WineGrin Because, if nothing else, we need our bloody humour, it’s about all that’s left! Wink

😂😂😂

Clever Boris!

Epicwaffle · 06/11/2019 16:34

What is it with these politicians and their buses?

I mean, aside from the fact that Jo is apparently claiming the Lib dems as purely her own creation here,

She has a wheel for an arm people!!! 😱😱😱

Boris and JRM are horrible human beings but this shouldn’t happen.

Effigies of Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg were set on fire at the world-famous Lewes Bonfire Night parade.

Limer · 06/11/2019 17:00

Grin Grin Grin

Boris is channeling Winston, and Jo is channeling a transformer. Or possibly Kevin the Carrot, given the lurid orange. LibDems are usually more of a gold colour than orange, aren't they?

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 17:01

I can't be bothered with E either.

I did hear on sky JC polling as low as 1970s.

I know who I am voting for.

SunnyupLands · 06/11/2019 17:11

@soniamumsnet the majority of threads in this topic are and always have been dominated by Remainers.

As a leaver I have found sharing my views and chatting, shut down at nearly every turn.
I do hope the arms which is always open to everyone but is the one tiny corner where leavers who simply have not given up posting congregate. I do hope mumsnet hq continues to keep an eye out, in the interest of fair access for all 'mums' be they remain or leave on a predominantly remain site....

Parker231 · 06/11/2019 17:16

How have people managed to decide so quickly who to vote for - the election manifestos are only just being released and no costings are available yet as to whether their proposals are financially realistic.

The bus liveries piss me off. Donate that amount to charity, any charity, wouldn’t even have to be one I supported.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 06/11/2019 17:30

Just watched the BBC2 politics live on catch up.

The labour MP on it was guaranteeing, not an aspiration, not a target, but GUARANTEEING that:
Within 5 years there will be ZERO food banks in the UK (apparently it wont even be hard).
Within 5 years no one working full time will be claiming ANY benefits.
Within 5 years EVERY house in the UK will be safe, warm & dry.

Now they are laudable aims but its just pure lies to guarantee that will be done in 5 years.

Oh yes and

By June 2020 a new Brexit deal will be agreed, ratified and had a referendum on. Despite Junker saying its not possible.

DustyDiamond · 06/11/2019 17:32

Maybe the buses will all have big looming faces on?!

😱😱😱

Saucery · 06/11/2019 17:33

Let’s hope we don’t have too much fog in the coming weeks then, Dusty. Could cause some nasty turns seeing them loom out of the peasouper at you Shock
