Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Now you are all waking up can I remind you that a) Corbyn is not a Remainer and b) there's no love for Corbyn amongst Remainers.

As you were. Smile

I love this cat.

This election is very easy for remainers.
They’ll all vote libdem.

I mean, why wouldn’t they? They’re the only main party who will cancel brexit.

bellinisurge · 07/11/2019 07:22

Not quite that simple @dirtyrottenscoundrel - tactical voting comes into it.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 07/11/2019 07:25

Well yes, but if every single remainer in the country voted for them surely they’d win? Or at least get so many MP’s that getting brexit through would be impossible.

bellinisurge · 07/11/2019 07:26

FPTP system doesn't make it that simple.

bellinisurge · 07/11/2019 07:29

And what makes you think that wasn't the Parliament we just had?

BercowsPoliticalPumpkin · 07/11/2019 07:30

It depends on the numbers in each constituency. Mine is likely to go back to LD from the Tory prat we have now. He's alienated a lot of the community. He's only popular in the more well off area up the road.

Limer · 07/11/2019 07:47

Morning everyone, oooh a new landlady waiting in the wings!

Slightly puzzled about the departure of Tom Watson. I have great admiration for his impressive weight loss. Even more admiration for Nigel Lawson's weight loss, who managed it while being in fairly close proximity to plenty of Nigella's delicious creations.

I was out last night, tentatively mentioned the election and everyone groaned. Not much enthusiasm for it out there!

bellinisurge · 07/11/2019 07:49

There's a whole low-fat section in How to Eat that Nigella's dad lauded when that book came out.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 07/11/2019 07:51

I preferred Tom Watson fat.

SingingLily · 07/11/2019 08:01

I think Tom Watson is fighting crocodiles in every direction and not just because Lansmann's attempt to remove him very nearly succeeded.

The Guardian reported a couple of days ago that Harvey Proctor has made a formal complaint alleging serious criminal misconduct against five very senior police officers. The article says:

"The unredacted report also shed light on the role of Labour’s deputy leader, Tom Watson, who, according to Henriques, pressurised investigating officers. Reviewing how to engage with the politician was listed among “investigative priorities” by a senior officer."

If Tom Watson has decided to have some time out, it's probably a very sensible decision.

The timing, though, was interesting.

twofingerstoEverything · 07/11/2019 08:03

There are a few leavers here and a few Remainers who have been welcomed in.
Walkingdead Seems to have been a bit of an infestation of rodents in the Arms today.
Yep. Welcoming to all.

Limer · 07/11/2019 08:09

Anyone hear former Labour MP Ian Austin on the Today programme? Saying Jeremy Corbyn is completely unfit to lead the country, and advising people to vote Conservative.

Epicwaffle · 07/11/2019 08:11

Morning all... breaking news.

Not all Labour MPs were previously fat.

As you were. Thanks. Brew

This election is very easy for remainers. They’ll all vote libdem.
Lots of remainers would accept a form of Brexit that looked like it would not be too damaging, for example a 'Norway' deal (which Farage himself alluded to in the run up to the referendum). So, some would accept the principle of seeing what the deal is and then voting on it in a referendum (Labour's proposal). However, these people aren't necessarily keen on voting to put Corbyn in charge. Other Remainers would like a straightforward revoke, because this really is the only way to 'get it done', rather than have years more of Brexit dragging on and on. So, it's not actually 'very easy' at all.

Well yes, but if every single remainer in the country voted for them surely they’d win?
Not under the first past the post system.

SingingLily · 07/11/2019 08:22

Morning, Landlady, you've done a very fine job of managing this pub. I'm glad you will still be around to impart your wit and wisdom.

In the meantime, do you mind if I leave this behind the bar for the new Landlady?

SingingLily · 07/11/2019 08:23

Aargh, paste failed!

Limer · 07/11/2019 08:24

My all-time favourite fat Labour MP is John Prescott.

bellinisurge · 07/11/2019 08:27

I vowed never to vote Labour with Corbyn as leader. If it looks like the Brexit Party are a likely winner of the Labour Leave constituency I am in, I would vote Labour to keep those turds out.
In a turd fashion parade, Brexit Party are even smellier than a Corbyn led Labour Party.

SingingLily · 07/11/2019 08:31

Do you live in a Labour marginal, Bellini.

The one I live in has always been a straight fight between Conservative and LibDem. Labour doesn't get a look-in. In fact, it barely scrapes its deposit back. However, it's also Leave leaning.

Limer · 07/11/2019 08:35

I'm not a huge fan of the Brexit Party, although I did cast a protest vote for them at the last EU elections.

So much up for grabs with the potential of tactical voting.

twofingerstoEverything · 07/11/2019 08:40

Anyone hear former Labour MP Ian Austin on the Today programme? Saying Jeremy Corbyn is completely unfit to lead the country, and advising people to vote Conservative.
Every party has its fair share of wankers. The Tories have MPs lying in rape cases, victim-blaming MPs suggesting Grenfell victims should have had more 'common sense', and candidates suggesting people on benefits should be put down. Yeah, but Corbyn...

This is all we're going to get in this election, isn't it?

Limer · 07/11/2019 08:49

twofingers but Ian Austin isn't a wanker. He's a decent bloke.
