Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Brilliantly Damning review of Bercow during speakers election speeches today.

The gloves are well and truly off now!

Afternoon All 😊😋 Bloody Jo Swinson on tv right now suing to be allowed on the TV debates, claims it sexism not the fact that the Lib Dems only have 20 seats in 🤔 also bleating on about Russia!

SingingLily · 04/11/2019 15:51

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Lindsey Hoyle. Failing that, Eleanor Laing.

I see Michael Gove is backing Chris Bryant. Interesting choice.

BelleHathor · 04/11/2019 15:51

Correction: Seeking legal advice 🙄

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 15:56

I just missed that Belle!

FWIW, I think she should be included, because however it’s shaken down, the optics aren’t great and they are the third party.

Besides, Jo doesn’t do very well with pointed questions especially around her shapeshifting on new and past policies, so it would, imo, be quite useful for people considering Lib Dem to see that.

Boris, well. Let’s just hope he leaves the sound bites at home and delivers strong dynamic responses (a forlorn hope from me here 😬😂)

I'm not a fan of the debates personally. I would rather each party leader get a prime time grilling by Andrew Neil. He takes no bull and can expose the lies and the ridiculous. He also wouldn't be giving Labour a free pass on their Brexit stance like Andrew Marr.

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 16:03

Oooh yes Holly!

Unless, AN did the debates! Even better!

🤞 fingers crossed for Boris. You are far more forgiving than me Epic 😉 . Though there could be more opportunity for things like this :

I'm rooting for either Chris Bryant or Eleanor Laing

Also like Lindsey Hoyle

Harman lost me at the 'I'm a woman' stage (as does Jo Swinson tbh wrt her bleating about the leadership debates)

Wrt leadership debates - one is maybe ok but I don't think there's much value to them

I liked last time where TM & JC were alone in front of audience asking questions & also a full grilling from Andrew Neil is a must!

Jo Swinson should be involved because she's leader of the 3rd party (which everyone can vote for) - the woman thing is an annoying red herring

No reason why Scottish party leaders shouldn't be involved in a separate thing as well on BBC Scotland or STV (same with Wales)

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 16:20

“I'm rooting for either Chris Bryant or Eleanor Laing

Looks like it’s between these 3 now?

Keeping fingers crossed Harman drops out...

Looking good for Lindsey Hoyle so far...

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 16:21

My preference is either Laing or Bryant , but it looks like it may be Hoyle... 🤔

OP posts:
BelleHathor · 04/11/2019 16:28

Remember Hoyle didn't pick the amendments to allow 16 year olds and EU to vote last week. 🤞 he keeps to convention and JRM likes to mention Erskine May 😉. Bercow was rogue 😡

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 16:34

I note Harman is back on the ballot. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hattie has lost 13 votes - down from 72 to 59. 🤞

SingingLily · 04/11/2019 17:57

Hattie has now withdrawn.

Phew!

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 18:13

“Hattie has now withdrawn.”

Hooray! 🎉

🙌🙌 Epic 😂

BoJo thanks you for your service!

Between Chris & Lindsey now....

Rooting for Chris now 🤞

(Happy with either tbh)

SingingLily · 04/11/2019 20:21

It's Lindsey Hoyle! 👏🏻

HateIsNotGood · 04/11/2019 20:28

Evening all - just a quick shot of tequila please - no more than that as tequila turns me into the greatest raving lunatic I have ever known; although give me margaritas all day and I'm only a bit of a loony.

Have they finished the Speaker thing yet? I had an awful thought - there's so few of us that frequent these parts that we are dangerously close to being described as an echo chamber....echo....echo....agree.

Which truly aches my tits.

HateIsNotGood · 04/11/2019 20:37

Lyndsey's ok. Know's the job, which when push comes to shove, is ok. Some people do exist that understand the importance of the neutral, rule obsessed arbritrar. I think he does, so awa we go.

XingMing · 04/11/2019 20:50

Not completely an echo chamber... a random shy entrant here, tempted in by Lily's very thoughtful post about democracy/ why she voted Leave on another thread. I have silenced myself because I am so far from the metropolitan gravy train. I'd like a double-shot, flat white with semi-skim milk, if possible, please.
