Morning everyone!
Yes, it can get testy in here at times! Lol.
I saw that Bot thing, hilarious, and believe it may have even been posted in earnest elsewhere, missing the point a little...
Anyway,
Apparently, the almighty JC is going to attempt to appeal to leave voters by having a People’s vote within 6 months to sort the issue once and for all.
I am actually a little curious on this issue. Obviously we know there is a significant contingent of remain voters who welcome a peoples vote, it’s quite clear there is ‘some’ strong feeling on this from ‘some’ factions of the remain side. However, has anyone ever come across a leave voter that feels that a peoples vote would be a good or fair option? I certainly haven’t, but I live in a bit of a leave bubble, so I appreciate that some may have a different opinion.
My personal view, is that, if the PV argument is that the first ref, was poorly executed (a not entirely unreasonable argument.) then attempting to ‘fix’ it by running yet another poorly executed one would be a fools errand. The reason I believe that PV would be poorly executed, is that there would be so much dissent within the ranks, over what the options could be, (they already can’t agree according to leaked reports) and that we would probably end up with ballot options that were spilt in favour of either remain or (highly unlikely) leave and we don’t really get a true or fair picture of the electoral viewpoint, thereby rendering it either pointless or even more divisive.
Thoughts?
