Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Tragedy. Travesty.

How could this "incredibly effective campaign" have failed when its most famous advocate was the persuasive permatanned ever-grinning Yo Blair!?

Shedding tears even now...🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

DustyDiamond · 04/11/2019 00:03

Do spare a tear for Alistair Campbell as well 😢
He's one of the darlings of the People's Vote

😂😂😂😂😂

SingingLily · 04/11/2019 00:05

No sympathy here, Dusty. He's a Burnley supporter Grin

I feel that Roland Rudd and the rest of the PV gang would be happiest if they could have a "people's vote" where only the right kind of people get to vote.

Wimbledonna · 04/11/2019 00:22

I'm glad they're fighting like rats in a sack. It couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of permatanned gentlemen.

Sounds like too many egos and in fighting has killed off the peoples vote then? On their twitter they are campaigning with Dominic Grieve, because that will definitely convert those against a specific second vote won't it? He's hardly man of the people Hmm.

Other observations from the weekend:

Farage not standing is about headlines and the fact he doesn't want to lose. I can't see Brexit party contesting every seat now they have seen the public reaction. I think they came out all big balls and demanding a pact with the Tories to get headlines and publicity.

Labour seem a bit all the place. Their stance against billionaires hasn't landed that well outside the echo chamber and demonstrates they are the party of envy. Is removing 150 billionaires really going to stop homelessness? If so how? The NHS being sold off is also starting to sound absurd and a poll over the weekend shows people trusted BJ on the NHS ahead Corbyn!

Their other Labour major announcement was borrowing a large sum of money to provide eco updates to people's homes. Not necessarily a bad idea, but I generally think people are suspicious of government forced upgrades... take smart meters as a prime example. I don't want some government mandated lacky installing things in my house. I'd rather pick my choices of supplier and solution. I can't see that really winning many voters personally. I think people are more concerned with affordable energy bills in the first place.

The poll about 40 odd percent of Jews considering leaving if Corbyn became PM is absolutely shocking as well. That deserves far more coverage and discussion.

Finally, noticed a lot of Labour MPs crowdfunding for their campaigns. Is this normal? Or is there not a central pot to draw funds from?

Why the deletions?

Morning @Hollycatberry, thanks for the synopsis, I have taken a back seat to it all for a few days so I appreciate the round up. It’s all too fecking stressful!

Morning to everyone else too.
Brew all round. Wink

Sounds like too many egos and in fighting has killed off the peoples vote then?

I'd say that was a fair assessment, Hollycatberry, and not confined to the People's Vote. Remember the vicious fighting between Leave.EU and Vote Leave? It's the same people from the latter two that are at the heart of the standoff between Nigel Farage and Boris, with Arron Banks throwing in helpful comments from the sidelines.

Dominic Grieve is not only not a man of the people. He's the centre of some fairly strong reactions from his former constituency party. Beaconsfield was only very marginally Remain but a significant number of those who voted Remain were unhappy with his tactics in the HoC.

Strange times, strange alliances.

SingingLily · 04/11/2019 09:15

Morning, Epicwaffle. Dusty and I were mourning the collapse of the People's Vote and got a bit giddy. With grief, of course.

My first ever deletion. Shock

Epicwaffle · 04/11/2019 09:16

This is an interesting read.

Well, colour me shocked, that MR multimillionaire PR man Rudd (brother of Amber), prioritised Spin (Sky news interview) and ignoring the VONC (theres a pattern here somewhere). Over his PV staffers. (Allegedly Wink)
