Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

Welcome to all friendly parties!

Ferrcrissakes, you should all be tough enough to put up with having the piss taken out of Johnson and sensible enough to see that threats of violence against any MP is revolting. Enough of the diversion tactics blaming critics of Brexit for "bringing it on themselves ". It was a close referendum result. People will not "get behind Brexit " but, like me, might reluctantly accept an orderly Brexit. That's the best you can hope for.

TheSultanofPingu · 01/11/2019 09:32

Yes, abuse towards MP's goes both ways Holly. It would be disingenuous to say otherwise. Those death threat letters were absolutely horrific though. Just imagine how it would feel to get one of those through your letterbox.

Epicwaffle · 01/11/2019 09:33

Morning All,

I see we have been busy overnight!

The handyman has been in to look at the stools, apparently he can’t “get it done” until the 31st Jan, which we will grudgingly have to accept for now I’m afraid. Sad

Today’s specials!

Mains. ⭐️

•Gammon and carrots (we have loads left, apparently some prefer turnip? 🤷🏻‍♀️) 🥕

•Dead-dog stew with potato ‘Frit’ters. 🥔

Puddings. ⭐️

•Humble pie, with a generous dollop of sour cream. 🥧

•EU Pumpkin crumble. (The Pumpkin is a little past it’s best, but I’m reliably told that this is ok and nothing to worry about.) 🎃

Drinks specials. ⭐️

We have some ditchwater cocktails and corpse reviver left over from yesterday, so fill your boots!

Also, we have a very special German Bitter 🇩🇪 🍺 in! One of our kind regulars secured a fantastic wholesale deal for us on the 🍻 so thank you to that patron!

As usual, bar snacks are available, 🥜

"Nothing to do with Brexit"
Yeah sure, if you say so

twofingerstoEverything · 01/11/2019 09:34

I agree with this. But you need to be an active cheerleader for Brexit on this thread otherwise you will get a glitterball - whatever the fuck that is meant to symbolise.

Mistigri · 01/11/2019 09:35

Can I just make clear, for those who were not around yesterday, that my "goady posts" consisted of posting verbatim quotes from the Prime Minister.

Most of my posts consisted of a date and a quote. So unless the date was the goady part, you're accusing the Prime Minister of being a goady fucker.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2019 09:38

@Mistigri , I too fail to understand why quotes from tbe PM constitute goading.

Epicwaffle · 01/11/2019 09:40

“I agree with this. But you need to be an active cheerleader for Brexit on this thread otherwise you will get a glitterball - whatever the fuck that is meant to symbolise.”

TOTALLY incorrect. The glitterball gets deployed as the pubs ‘grey rock’ policy when we get bombarded with goading and personal attacks.

There are several lovely remainers here, who do NOT resort to that bullshit, who we are more than happy to converse with on the matter.

I go back to the pub’s one simple rule .

“Don’t be a twat.”

I don't, honestly, think that anyone on these threads is bothered one bit by piss-taking of Boris Johnson.

Perfectly legitimate thing to do.
Just as I constantly slag of Corbyn.

What a certain cohort of posters do though is brag on another thread that they're coming to this one to deliberately goad & get a reaction - and some posters go much further & level personal attacks.

Have you wondered why nobody tends to get pissy with your posts Bellini?
It's because you don't just goad, poke fun or get irritable with us - you also engage outwith that. You often share a joke, you engage in general chit chat & you're not abusive. You might disagree with us but you see us as people - not as being akin to the shit on your shoe.

In answer to your second point - I cannot see any evidence of posters implying otherwise.
Of course violence against anyone & against MPs is revolting.

Hollycatberry · 01/11/2019 09:41

@Epicwaffle

Did I hear that the Workington Man band may be booked for a future live music night? Hopefully they get lots of support, they seem like good solid blokes. Don't deserve the criticism they've been getting imo.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 09:42

But you need to be an active cheerleader for Brexit on this thread otherwise you will get a glitterball

Nah

You get that for being a goady cunt.

Epicwaffle · 01/11/2019 09:43

Maybe we should all just bombard WM threads and poke you all with a shitstick?

But we won’t, because...

“Don’t be a twat.”

It’s a great rule to live by.

Banter is fine, terse, spirited discourse, fair argument? = Welcome.

Personal attacks, sneering, goading. = being a twat. And the glitterball comes out.

It’s ridiculous to suggest that bj was being goady when stating his intention to leave, or that misti’s posts were not goady when they were designed to highlight that he failed. But I come back to my earlier point that making people feel defensive about man-of-the-people Boris is exactly cummings’ intention so if people can’t see they are being played, let them get on with it.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 01/11/2019 09:44

Are MNHQ aware of this?

Epicwaffle · 01/11/2019 09:45

@Hollycatberry

We would love a visit from the Workington man band! Are they free tonight? 🎶

We tried the Woke-ington Man band once. The regs weren’t keen. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@DustyDiamond thank you for being generous. I despise Corbyn too so we agree on something.
And I am a very grumpy sod. It's just that some posters on here, much as I disagree with them on most things, remind me of many of the Leave supporters in my area (not the Tommy Robinson ones, of which there are many sadly). I have to get on amicably enough with them or I'll go mad. And many are parents of my daughter's friends.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 09:47

if people can’t see they are being played, let them get on with it.

True dat Megan 🙌

Whilst many focus on facts & tangible, provable things, we have often discussed the psychology behind political strategy on these threads.

It had been clear as day for some months what Cummings's strategy is & all players seem to be embracing their parts beautifully thus far.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 09:49

Thanks Epic!!!!

What a fine array of beverages & sustenance you have for us!

twofingerstoEverything · 01/11/2019 09:50

“Don’t be a twat.”

Unfortunately, the arbiters of who is being a twat, are far from impartial and seem to want an echo chamber. Why not just have a 'rule' Hmm that says 'Don't disagree with us' or we will accuse you of goadiness/twattery?' It would be more honest.

Hollycatberry · 01/11/2019 09:51

sensible enough to see that threats of violence against any MP is revolting

The good news is everyone here is revolted by the threats of violence towards MPs, so no need to come here to highlight it or suggest we need to explain why it's happening. I nor others have no insight in to the mind of either leave or remain extremists or other nutjobs who think its ok to dish out abuse or threats to any MPs.

The only time I've written to my MP was about some parking changes in the area. I got my response, it was all very efficient actually.

Epicwaffle · 01/11/2019 09:52

“Are MNHQ aware of this?”

I don’t think they appreciate the scale of the problem. Posts get deleted in isolation, but I don’t think they realise (at least I hope they don’t, bacause that means they turn a blind eye) the sustained attacking and bullying that certain posters receive, just for existing here.

Mummmy for example gets horrendous abuse and sneering on the other thread, so it’s not just here either.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 09:54

DustyDiamond thank you for being generous.

Not generous at all 😂😂

I mean it - we have differing opinions on some things & likely agree on many others - such is life! 🍷

Anyhoo - you're Cummings's go-to guy so it's like a sort of claim to fame Wink

MeganBacon · 01/11/2019 09:54

Echo chamber Grin have you had a look over on wm?

This, I haven’t even touched on it for this very reason.

Im disappointed that some people think that winding people up on the Internet by posting verbatim quotes from the prime minister is somehow equivalent to threatening to rape and murder MPs. But I guess we don't all share the same values.

misti you were posting yesterday with the sole intention of winding Leavers up.

You even boasted on the other thread about ‘serving them humble pie’

No, it’s not the same as sending death threats but it still on the same spectrum of unacceptable behaviour, obviously just not at the same end of the scale
