I don't really feel qualified to start a Westminstenders thread but we need a new one....

D- would reject any deal because you will not accept the democratic decision this country has mad

I think a lot of criticism of the deal (or any deal) would be because of this.

A) I don't think this deal is good enough... but would reluctantly live with it if it was approved in a confirmatory referendum

@Hester54 is right. No Deal is not off the table even with an extension. Unless we have some stupid shitty deal. Which will now be before Parliament.
And if WA 2.0 fails on Saturday, No deal is still an option after any extension. Assuming one is granted.
And that's not even starting on the "consent mechanism " which at least has a two year period of reflection/fixthisshit built in. Good news is that democratic debate is working well in NI and it can easily take the strain ....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/10/2019 13:56

bellini, it could well lead to a version of slow No Deal. It's not just about a cliff edge.

prettybird · 17/10/2019 13:58

I'm just waiting for TiP to get in touch to say how much the loyalist and republican terrorist groups will love this new deal, just as much as they were looking forward to No Deal if not more as a charter for smuggling Hmm

bellinisurge · 17/10/2019 13:58

@OhYouBadBadKitten , also right. All I can hope if we slow mo to No Deal is that more people get into preppingSmile

PMK...

Do I support BoZo's deal? No, I do not. I didn't support May's deal either. However, I do prefer a deal to No Deal crash out.

I hope this is not a complicated concept.

Think of it like this: If No Deal is having your entrails pulled out of your body and burned in front of you, then being flayed alive and finally being ripped apart by a team of rabid horses, and BoZo's deal is like being flayed alive then ripped apart by a team of rabid horses, and May's deal is like being ripped apart by a team of rabid horses, then I have an understandable order of preference whilst at no time supporting any of them.

I'm with GlassOfPort.

A, it's a crappy deal, but if that's what people want ... and it has to be the people, it's got no legitimacy otherwise.

And TheElements has it on the nose.

Driedlimes · 17/10/2019 14:01

Those who peddle the 'will of the people' nonsense would do well to refer themselves to 2 referenda in Germany 1933/4. ( 2 overwhelming majorities for Hitler).

PhilSwagielka · 17/10/2019 14:02

So No Deal was never off the table?

BlackeyedGruesome · 17/10/2019 14:02

E. Definitely E.

Butterymuffin · 17/10/2019 14:03

It isn't what people want. This doesn't look at all like what people were promised - sunlit uplands, continued single market access..

As I've been wittering about all along, it's what comes after that's worrying.

1)The negotiations after a deal

  1. possibility/likelihood of Johnson 5 year majority government and the terrible damage that would ensue. Especially with this current cabinet of cunts.

Does anyone even fall for this sunlit uplands shit any more?

@IanDunt
Mogg typically insane. "It will be a golden age for the UK, when we are free of the heavy yoke of the EU, that has bowed us down for generations, all of that will be gone and we will be singing hallelujahs."

Hester54 · 17/10/2019 14:04

Hoooo With a attitude like that, we will be stuck in a never ending circle, for years and years,
It’s all been said before but Parliament voted to give the vote, voted to implement A50, they could have stopped it anytime, but choose to carry on, take it up with them at the next GE

OffTheShelfElf · 17/10/2019 14:05

Another E here. And I agree with Elements.

InMySpareTime · 17/10/2019 14:06

Did BJ finally win a vote?
