Big week ahead.

Johnson has until Tuesday Afternoon to get his shit together for the EU.

He thinks it can be down, but still lots to do in that time.

This week we have the Queen's Speech too, which is going to be misused as a party political broadcast.

Remember if the government can't pass the QS, there's a crisis that gets generated as a direct result. Sticking in proposals that any liberal or leftie will struggle with, is deliberately provoking a crisis of that nature. A proposal of that type would have to be anti democratic in nature, like... Ermmm... Voter ID. Hell, well what do you know.

Johnson is still after his election because as it stands he's a passenger stuck in the runaway train of his own creation.

Talk of a deal breakthrough is still overstated too. The DUP and many of the usual ERG suspects have poured water on the idea. And many on the opposition benches are pushing hard on a confirmary ref being needed for a deal - they don't have the numbers yet, but talk is that they are close. We also have loyalist military making threats about an Irish Sea Border solution.

Time for Project Shit Meets Fan.

Is BJ trying to piss off the Irish again ?
What does he mean by "generally" Confused

Adam Bienkovv@AdamBienkov*

Boris Johnson’s new immigration bill states that Irish citizens, who currently have the right to live and work in the UK,
will “generally” not require further leave to remain here after Brexit.

< and then there's this today: >

'Deeply disappointed': Emma DeSouza loses Irish citizenship appeal against UK's Home Office

https://www.thejournal.ie/emma-desouza-loses-citizenship-case-appeal-4850391-Oct2019/

The Government said the British Nationalist Act ruled that anyone born in Northern Ireland was automatically British, until such time as they renounce that citizenship.

DeSouza accused the UK Government of failing to implement the provisions of Good Friday Agreement into UK domestic law.

She said her case will have implications for EU citizens post-Brexit.

Always thought Cameron looks like a suet pudding with currant eyes!

ListeningQuietly · 14/10/2019 13:37

Hope it stops raining before Saturday

BigChocFrenzy · 14/10/2019 13:38

Tradiitionally, the Monarch does not vote in any election

There would also be eyebrows raised if the prospective future monarchs voted, i.e. Charles, William

I don't know how removed from the succession someone has to be, for it to become accepted ?
Even applying for postal votes could leak

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/10/2019 13:40

The divorce changed are probably a response to the Owens case where the wife couldn’t get a divorce.
researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN01409/SN01409.pdf

There have been calls for no fault divorce for a number of years including from the senior judiciary

BigChocFrenzy · 14/10/2019 13:41

I thought BJ dumped his wife long enough ago for his divorce to be fairly straightforward ?

Of course if there was a bill allowing feckless fathers to abandon their kids and not have any further responsibility ..... future planning

DGRossetti · 14/10/2019 13:43

DG Rossetti - you mentioned the box that our monarchy fills (or something like that earlier on). You said that it's not just there for show. What is it there for? Does it have any sort of power, voice or say? I was so willing Queenie to add something of her own into that stream of nonsense, or simply refuse to deliver it.

Basically all countries need a Head of State (I guess it's kind of what makes them countries ...). In the UK that role is filled by the Queen, as Monarch. However, because the Monarch is unelected, any power they have on paper is severely curtailed by the fact they have no real standing against an "elected" Prime Minister. Even Boris.

Which is my reason for not wanting to keep the Monarchy.

However it seems most people would happily keep them "coz of the tourists", and completely ignore the actual serious bit.

fedup21 · 14/10/2019 13:48

But David Cameron looks like a condom, with his nose as the little bubble on the end.

The best thing I ever read about David Cameron on here was over his election campaign time (when he was often quite pink, excitable and sweaty), was likening him to a ‘freshly wanked cock’.

It was surprisingly accurate!

mrslaughan · 14/10/2019 13:49

There should definitely be no fault divorce. Followed up by stronger laws to enforce feckless fathers to adequately support their kids. With some teeth - far too many friends with kids completely screwed over by ex's.

TheElementsSong · 14/10/2019 14:05

PMK with a gem from Twitter. I hope this is a parody account, but I believe it is in fact real.

David Cameron also looks like Iggle-Piggle from The Night Garden.

Somerville · 14/10/2019 14:12

I’m so Angry about the DeSouza judgement.

I’m Irish. I have been since my birth in Derry and I voted for the GFA in full belief that it would finally enshrine that in International and British law!

This government are trying to destroy the GFA.

United Ireland here we come.

DGRossetti · 14/10/2019 14:15

Can't the DeSouza be appealed to SCTOUK - and thence ECJ ?

Somerville · 14/10/2019 14:18

Aye it is being appealed. Not sure which court it goes to next.

fedup21 · 14/10/2019 14:19

The debate on the QS usually lasts about 5 days-I don't know if it is possible to shorten this by much, even though the A50 clock is ticking away.

Are they going to talk about this all week then?? And then not vote on it for days?

54321go · 14/10/2019 14:22

David Cameron also looks like Iggle-Piggle from The Night Garden.
At least kids grow up and eventually stop watching that stuff.

(when he was often quite pink, excitable and sweaty), was likening him to a ‘freshly wanked cock’.
You mean a bit like a penis but smaller?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 14/10/2019 14:39

United Ireland here we come.

According to Data on TNG that happens in 2024

So you've got a while to go yet Grin
