Big week ahead.

Johnson has until Tuesday Afternoon to get his shit together for the EU.

He thinks it can be down, but still lots to do in that time.

This week we have the Queen's Speech too, which is going to be misused as a party political broadcast.

Remember if the government can't pass the QS, there's a crisis that gets generated as a direct result. Sticking in proposals that any liberal or leftie will struggle with, is deliberately provoking a crisis of that nature. A proposal of that type would have to be anti democratic in nature, like... Ermmm... Voter ID. Hell, well what do you know.

Johnson is still after his election because as it stands he's a passenger stuck in the runaway train of his own creation.

Talk of a deal breakthrough is still overstated too. The DUP and many of the usual ERG suspects have poured water on the idea. And many on the opposition benches are pushing hard on a confirmary ref being needed for a deal - they don't have the numbers yet, but talk is that they are close. We also have loyalist military making threats about an Irish Sea Border solution.

Time for Project Shit Meets Fan.

Celebrity Hunted is on? damn, missed it.

and a repeated reminder to keep taking care of ourselves - take time out away from the news, put your raincoats on and get out for walks. I had a bit of a struggle last week - didn't take enough time for breathing space. We can all get sucked in.

PMK

Also watching Stanley Johnson being outclassed on the common sense stakes by Toff.

Liked the story that Johnson Snr failed his spy test because he couldn’t resist the blonde boobytrap.

defiant, disobedient and disrespectful DC.
So glad I'm not the only one with this kind of weekend behind them.
Rather dreading what is to come on Saturday.

OublietteBravo · 13/10/2019 22:21

PMK. It’s going to be an interesting week. Again.

TokyoSushi · 13/10/2019 22:24

Checking in for a busy week!

Sitting on my hands so I don't throw my radio out of the window... Jrm on Westminster hour.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 22:43

@red I think a PV is v high risk too
I'd much rather MPs chose, while we still have all these rebels

I was more wondering how there could be the votes for it in the HoC,
since probably 20+ Labour Leavers would vote against

imo, a PV is only feasible - and the result politically binding for years to come -

if BJ agrees to it and that the Tory party would be bound by it.
He'd have to be absolutely desperate for that to happen.

What do you think ?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 13/10/2019 22:48

Thanks red

CrunchyCarrot · 13/10/2019 23:08

Thanks Red. No cats here at the mo but he's always been my favourite character... Here he is doing a Rees-Mogg.

I'm another one without a photo ID, no passport nor driving licence. Tried to open a joint account with DP but couldn't as I can't prove who I am. Doctors won't vouch any more for the same reason.

'Toff' is awful. Suddenly she supports Leave. Wonder why?

Peter Foster@pmdfoster

.... @MichelBarnier is squeezing hard
- if @BorisJohnson^ wants a deal by #EUCO, he's gonna have to come over very close to NI-only backstop. 1/2^

I hear the shrug of EU shoulders:
Viz "If the UK wants it, they need to come and get it. But it's too late for anything fancy."

The Q is, how much of this is for effect & where is Barnier bottom line?

Is too tough
A) for Johnson to agree to &
B) if he does, to sell it. 2/2

pp on previous thread reckoned most people could afford £15 to get ID, I take it theyre not current on their UC knowledge, which I'm luckily not on yet, but most months I'm lucky to have a fiver in my account at the end of the month and a lot of disabled people I know are in the same boat, please explain to me pp where would we find this magical £15 and if we could afford it tell me why I shouldnt spend it on food or other more pressing needs, thats why the vulnerable people, made even more vulnerable since 2010 need a Labout government in for even just 1 term so more of us dont die before we were meant to

JustAnotherPoster00 · 13/10/2019 23:52

Grin Labout - a foreshadowing typo I feel lol

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/10/2019 00:19

Pmk.

Am I hearing right that Bojos son is on a reality TV show??
Jesus, they are really pulling the piss.

DoctorTwo · 14/10/2019 00:41

Good luck to all those marching next Saturday, I can't be there as I'm helping somebody move.

prettybird · 14/10/2019 00:56

Cat lording it over the rest of us mere mortals. Grin

Alyn Smith said in his Q&As that if (big if ) the latest negotiation actually reached a conclusion and more importantly Ireland supported it, it would be passed by the European Parliament - although the SNP would be voting against it (because they have been consistent in their view that any form of leaving is bad for Scotland and not what it voted for).

He also reiterated - as did Drew Scott (professor in European Studies & Director at the Europa Institute?) - that this is not The Deal. This just deals with the money, citizens rights and geographical indicators to allow the discussions on The Deal to start (something we on Westministenders have always been clear on Wink), while we are in transition. Drew corrected Alyn, saying that we don't have 2 years in transition to get the deal done - we have just over a year. Shock

And that even the most basic of Canada Minus Deal would take much longer than that. "Relatively straightforward deals with 3rd countries, with a wind behind you and goodwill between the countries take 4-6 years" ...and he went on to say, "For more complex relationships/deals they may not get concluded at all - look at what happened with TTIP, which had been going on for years and years before breaking down" Hmm

BlueGingerale · 14/10/2019 05:59

7days - it’s not BoJos son. It’s his father! Which I find incredibly extraordinary.

I can’t think of any other politician whose family got into the celebrity game to support them.

Gingerninja4 · 14/10/2019 06:07

@JustAnotherPoster00

When she talks about just £15 For pass card .
Most places will only accept passport or driving licence as photo ID which are lot more than £15 as had issue recently and none of my other Photo ID was acceptable

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2019 06:32

It makes no odds what the cheapest ID is (nobody clarified if a PASScard is suitable for voting ID), if you can't afford even that.

Some people seem totally oblivious to the fact that there are huge numbers of people who literally have nothing left to buy ID with. Nothing.
