Looking for some lighter brexit relief by fellow leavers... Every thread I've glanced at seems to be dominated by renainers?

Is there any space for leaver on here?

Just interested... I wanted to chat...

As a single 'failing' yes trucking in water is possible, but many other services are likely to be being hit at around the same time.

I think it was shown beyond any shadow of a doubt last time this came up that few people seem to grasp the complexity of the modern world enough to appreciate that. There were cries of "water falls from the skies" which - while accurate - like a lot of things Leavers say is of fuck all use in real life.

Any situation which is bad enough to affect drinking water is probably going to knock out energy, transport and comms in varying degrees.

Of course if all of that is going on at home, the UK isn't going to be throwing it's weight around in Iran on the world stage for a while. Although the smarter readers will already know that there was nothing the UK could do as is to protect those two tankers. Not with what's left of our Navy.

Welcome, my friends, to the greatest re-enactment ever attempted in the 21st century as the UK puts on "Suez ! - The Musical" in real time and real world. Let's show the world what we do best. Showtunes and spectacle.

{I respect what you are saying but I don't want to stay in the EU being eurosceptic. It's so negative. I want to leave and be positive.}

Europeans are not negative. Some of the UK attitudes to Europe are negative, particularly when you have twats like Johnson spreading untruths and fabricating stories for years on end.
If the UK does not want to join in and make things as good as possible then I agree it should leave. It seems that some in the UK want the UK to be the 'bad apple' that spoils things.
The only real issue is where the UK is going to go as an independent country, as all the rest of the world is formed into tight trading blocs which in the global economy is essential.
The idea that the rest of the world will accept the UK as it does now, when it has departed and pulled it's pants down, is ridiculous. The UK will be ready for plucking.

Isthisafreename. The UK electoral system is doing a very good job of breaking up the union. Everything you say is true. I think some sort of break up of the union has been inevitable really since Devolution. As soon as a majority of people want it in Scotland, for example, then they should go independent. Why shouldn't they? The change will probably do us all good.

We could threaten to send Grayling to Iran.

Leclerc. That should be "pulled its pants down". It's only has an apostrophe when it stands for "it is".
(I figure you will be grateful for this tip as you sometimes berate other posters for their stupidity and it weakens your case if you make basic grammatical errors.)

Obviously if we had a power grid and water supply problem as a result of No Deal that would be a big fucking nightmare.
I play that likelihood down because I get accused of tin foil hattery. But I'm a prepper so power grid or water supply hold no fear for me personally. I'd hate to be in a situation where that is how we are.

Quite right timefor. Or "it has". You'll thank us for this oneday leclerc. When make a habit of calling other people fuckwits, you need to get your grammar right or you look like an ignorant foul-mouthed twat.

LeClerc.
Europeans' ability to feel positive or negative about the EU depends very much on their professional experience and ability to decipher what they read in the paper. Same can be said here. Depends who is in your friendship group.

Since I am literally surrounded by Europeans I am fully aware of that.

Then I'm sure you'll agree that many highly professional Europeans are very negative about the EU.

There's a difference between thinking some things are negative and wanting to leave.

So, as a pro brexit thread, this has been a very illuminating one. I first stumbled onto Mumsnet looking for balanced Brexit views and it seems, on balance, that it's a fucking dumbass thing to want to leave the EU in the ham fisted way we've gone about it. We need to stop it, right now. Hope my apostrophes are ok.

I don't understand or trust the way the EU works.

Why not educate yourself to find out? Then you will know whether your trust is misplaced or not.

I have got to the stage of questioning every Brexiter who tells us that EU law doesn't allow..... I ask, what does the law actually say? Is it an implementation of an International law? Is it an EU law which the UK has added its own more onerous embellishments to? Is it one which the UK could have amended but chose not to bother? This is particularly true of the Tory behaviour over the last ten years. Is this a law which the UK itself proposed back in a more active supportive phase?

Similarly when Theresa May crowed about eliminating roaming charges, I wrote to remind her that it was EU law which had just been implemented.

Maybe you can help me?

  1. Can you explain why the spitzenkandidats were rejected?
  2. Can you tell me how Ursula vdl was selected? What was the process exactly?
  3. Can you explain why Greece was allowed to join the Eurozone when it did not meet the criteria?

Because that's not really the English way, is it ? In fact it's usually taken as the mark of a troublemaker or someone who doesn't know their place.

This is such an anti-English comment. Whilst you may be able to cite some examples of English people not wanting to educate themselves, why would assume that people from any other nation are not the same? It's all very well talking down one nation (when it's your own) but where's the balance?

In the light of recent discussions it is clear that many of a 'leave' persuasion have decided that they are 'winners' and are not prepared to put any thought into what they might have 'won' or the fact that no one will get what they wanted. There is clearly no point in attempting to show anything otherwise.

I leave this passing tune.

What I know is that no-one will heal the rift by making sweeping derogatory generalisations (assumptions even in your case) about whole nations. If you want to be useful at this point in this awful process, think about that.
