How are you "managing" your "stockpile"?

With everything up in the air as it is, are you using it, leaving it well alone, adding to it or using but replacing so things are getting rotated?

I've got a bit of dried goods and toiletries which I'm using but replacing but leaving freezer food alone for now and just getting what I need in small amounts as I don't have much room in the freezer at all now.

Just wondered what everyone else is doing?

Tinned fruit has been popular here. And everyone likes tinned sweet corn except for me, so it's still there for use in an emergency.

Dried mushrooms and onions are useful.

Another suggestion on tinned stuff is to take a look at Jack Monroe 's Tin Can Cook. She has quite a few of her recipes on her website if you want to take a look and don't want to buy the book.
I'm not a fan of hers. I don't really like her that much but a good idea is a good idea.
And her recipe for corned beef chilli was pretty yum. I tried it.
And her carrot cake overnight oats. Not a cinnamon fan but it was also surprisingly yum.

We are not thrilled about tinned veg here either, but if the shit really hits the fan, it's that or go without, I think. I'm restocking freezer with stews/curries which contain plenty of cooked fresh veg, but if the power went down, there needs to be a backup.
We also have some bottles of water (I think I said before that my area was without a water supply for 2 days last year and it took no time at all for there to be fights in the street over the bottled water being handed out) Nobody these days really wants to be buying water in plastic, but personally I don't want to risk being left without drinking water.

Please learn about filtering and purifying water. You'll probably not need it but it is a handy piece of nonsense to store in your head:

Stick a bucket outside. Filter what you collect through an old T-shirt then stick the filtered water on the hob and do a hard boil for a minute. Sorted.

I've got some water purifying tablets too bellini

Always handy

Thornhill58 · 27/08/2019 20:43

By not having one. That's how I'm managing.

RuggerHug · 27/08/2019 23:07
