Westminstenders: Neglectful Drunkeness!

RedToothBrush · 16/03/2019 23:04

The HoC has spend the past 3 years in a state of Neglectful Drunkeness.

As it stands less then two weeks from Brexit Day, there is no deal we were promised. The Conservative and Labour Parties are more divided than ever.

The government is in disarray as 8 Cabinet ministers plus the chief whip voted against the Prime Minister including the Brexit Secretary who had minutes earlier argued for an extension only to vote against it. He is now on the brink of resignation.

The DUP look like they may be about to capitulate and vote for a deal. But it may not be enough even then.

This is what the cliff edge looks like.

Who wants to take a closer look?

To the last, Corbyn still trying to avoid any PV with Remain in it Angry

If the Leader of HM Official Opposition really hasn't read an amendment by two of his own MPs, then he is not doing his job

.... well, we know he isn't

No nor did I bigchoc. Hrs holding up well. He's left his local association but not the Tory party and he has a meeting with chief whip Monday to talk about joining national party so he can keep the whip. He wants to fight for those moderates in the Tory party much like what Tom Watson is doing. That's why he hasn't joined independents ( yet). Both TW and NB so concerned about their parties becoming too left/right wing and being took over by activists.

bellinisurge · 17/03/2019 11:15

If he hadn't "monetised" it, he probably would have got more people. If this nonsense "builds" with people doing it for free, then it might look different.
Fecking hilarious as it is, though.

Sostenueto · 17/03/2019 11:19

Although it really is very funny about leavers march ( I have laughed about it myself) I'm going to be cautious because I don't think it will be very funny if brexit is cancelled when we may see some very nasty marches occurring. I always think be careful what you laugh at as it may bite you in your buttocks!Smile

BigChocFrenzy · 17/03/2019 11:21

I'm baffled about the whole 50 quid thing, other than Farage wanting a nice earner Confused

pollyannaperspective · 17/03/2019 11:31

Nick Boles had a brain tumour diagnosed in Oct 2016. He was having treatment including chemo but voted in the Article 50 debates two years ago.

BigChocFrenzy · 17/03/2019 11:31

sos Much as I welcomed the Toggers, I doubt if more than s couple of them will retain their seats at the next GE

If we want moderate thoughtful politics for the future, imo it will have to come from people taking a leaf from the book of Momentum & the ERG - which have proved so effective within our FPTP system -
and starting groups within parties, like Watson has done and maybe Boles will too

I'm going to suggest the opposite ... part of the reason were are here now is because we didn't laugh enough at UKIP and their fantasies. Because we've all been bought up in the "woke" era of political correctness (or our media have been) there's this underlying pressure that everyones opinion is equally valid coupled with an incredibly inability to separate fact and opinion. As the adage goes: everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts ...

Feed that into a media which long ago became a profit machine rather than a channel for disseminating current events and analysis, and ... well we've arrived. Shame we don't like the weather.

Agree with DG

These morons couldn't find their own arsehole with a map and torch.

DGRossetti · 17/03/2019 11:57

If - say - Robin Day, or Bernard Levin - had been able to have 5 minutes with Farage back in the genesis days of UKIP, we wouldn't be having this debate now. Instead we have the BBC chasing Sky for "ratings" so got something like "The Spice girls quiz UKIP for 'da youth'" and a generation grew up believing Farage was some kind of oppressed Mandela figure instead of a cunt.

Returning to the Witherspoons shirinkage I wonder if it could be related to their dickfigurehead ? I guess if we read of a Dyson downturn it could be a possibility. After all, Gerald Ratner knows only too well the dual-edged nature of being a personality too closely associated with a brand. (I noticed "The Grand Tour" were very kind to Dyson when he appeared sending himself up ...)

Littlespaces · 17/03/2019 12:10

I'm not going in Wetherspoons or buying a Dyson ever again.

DarlingNikita · 17/03/2019 12:15

PMK. Thanks Red.

DGRossetti · 17/03/2019 12:20

Sadly we would never have bought a Dyson if you paid us ( people were buying Rutles records just to burn them ... Grin).

'Spoons isn't a hard sacrifice, since we're well past the "pubbing it" age, and their food is just about so-so.

That said, one of our fondest memories of recent years is a trip to London to see my Alma Mater, and having a Sunday breakfast in a local spoons at 11am. They had opened the huge windows (it was June - a boiling hot day) onto the street, and people were sipping pints and the whole atmosphere was incredibly "continental". The night before we'd walked through the town centre and there was a world cup match (2014) on the big screen with people from all over the globe watching - with no trouble at all. (Well a couple of pissed Brits Sad).

What happened ? What the fuck happened ? SadSadSadSadSadSadSadSad

I'm often staggered that it's only 6.5 years since the 2012 Olympics

TatianaLarina · 17/03/2019 12:26

I’ve never been to into Wetherspoons or bought a Dyson in my life, but I wouldn’t even pee in a Wetherspoons now.

Littlespaces · 17/03/2019 12:27

Austerity happened.

Icantreachthepretzels · 17/03/2019 12:35

By 2014 austerity had been going on for a good while. Remember George Osborne getting booed at the Olympics? We hadn't turned to a hate filled bigoted radicalised nation expecting the world on the platter and other people to give it to us. Everything that has happened can be laid at the door of Cameron agreeing to a referendum in his 2015 manifesto.

That's when the radicalisation of ordinary people - who had never given the EU a second thought in their lives - began. And here we are.

Littlespaces · 17/03/2019 12:36

@DarrenEuroNews

@JeremyCorbyn indicates that he could VOTE LEAVE rather than REMAIN in a possible second referendum if Labour's Brexit proposals were an option on the ballot paper #Brexit #Ridge

DUP demands seat at the table in future EU trade talks as price for backing May's deal

I actually think this is a brilliant idea. Put the DUP at the table and the transition period will go on for ever as the DUP are incapable of saying anything other than NO.

Joking aside, it would be an absolute disaster as we need some resolution. I'm most annoyed at the amount of money this shit fest has already cost us (I'm Irish) in terms of contingency planning for no deal. Massive amounts of time and money have been spent that could have used for health, education etc. We really do not need a never-ending negotiation period.

Icantreachthepretzels · 17/03/2019 12:36

Brexit: 'Physically impossible' to leave on 29 March, says chancellor

It's not though, is it? A crash out only requires the HoC to do nothing.

Littlespaces · 17/03/2019 12:38

Has anyone watched JC clip to see if this is true?
