People who've changed their mind...

Theworldisfullofgs · 15/03/2019 20:16

There seems to be a lot of people on the internet who say they were a remainer but changed their mind to leave.

Has anyone who is STILL remain ever met anyone who has shifted from remain to leave?

I've see a few people on twitter claiming to have voted remain who are obviously lying if you bother to check their timeline.

I haven't yet met a remainer IRL who has changed their mind. Tbh I dont think there has been much movement on either side, though I know a few people who voted leave without having a strong opinion on the matter and who now think it's a mess and we shouldn't leave.

Violetparis · 15/03/2019 20:38

I have a colleague at work who voted Remain and would now vote Leave, she says some of her friends would do the same. Also know a few who voted Remain who wouldn't vote at all if there was another referendum.

Theworldisfullofgs · 15/03/2019 20:42

I know quite a lot of people in real life who would now vote remain. Not loads but a significant %.

The people on Twitter who says they would now switch from remain to leave all have new profiles...

My best friend at work voted Remain but would vote Leave in a second ref. A few others possibles also at work that I am less sure about.

Theworldisfullofgs · 15/03/2019 20:57

Megan why?

Even Oliver Norgrove and Roland Smith big leave proponents and campaigned for Leave say it's a shit show.

I think people who claim to have voted remain and to now be in favour of leave are usually being dishonest - on social media including MN these people usually have new profiles.

Most polls show a drift to remain but still surprisingly little movement.

He's mostly been very unhappy about how the EU have behaved. I'm cringing writing that. His reason for voting Remain was that it would take too long to put in place trade agreements, but he says he's beyond caring about that now.

oreoxoreo · 15/03/2019 21:15

I am remainer but I would consider voting leave. Mainly to prove the point to brexiteers how wrong they are in everything, and let them suck it up!

Thank god I hold only EU passport and can't vote.

lljkk · 15/03/2019 21:18

Some ppl claim they vote Remain & would vote Leave b/c (they say) the democratic result should be respected from first vote.

What they really mean is they are contrary and resent being asked either time, but they don't say it like that.

Nanalisa60 · 15/03/2019 21:18

I would like another a second vote!! But I don’t think that British people will ever be given a referend again!! As let’s face it they don’t like our choices!!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 15/03/2019 21:18

There seems to be a lot of people on the internet who say they were a remainer but changed their mind to leave

Personally i think 1 of 3 things about these statements

  1. they are lying

  2. they are honestly not very bright

  3. they have some sort of kamikaze urge or are doing it out of bloody mindedness Grin

sar302 · 15/03/2019 21:48

I don't know any remainers who have changed their mind to Leave. I do know some who are saying "for fucks sake let's just get on with it now", as they're bored of the total shit show it has become

Flyhighmypretties · 15/03/2019 22:16

I was speaking to a family friend recently (guy in his 70s) and Brexit came up. He told me he voted remain but would now vote leave. He didn't say why. Started going on about how TM's deal is the best deal, I said no, we already have the best deal! Frustrating discussion.

S1naidSucks · 15/03/2019 22:21

I know someone who has recently posted on Facebook that they voted leave because they believed that the health service would be helped (big bus advert 🙄) and now wishes they hadn’t been so gullible.

LAlady · 15/03/2019 22:31

I know people who voted leave who would now vote remain - not the other way round though.

I voted Remain, but now I am convinced that the UK should sign up to the WA and leave.
Your list is very 'UK centric' and a narrow point of view.
Taken from outside the UK, it has made a stupid mistake and opened Pandoras box. The lid will not close now and with the lies and 'dark money' a full investigation needs to take place, which will take years. The UK has less than 2 weeks to make it's mind up and the 'good ship UK' has lost it's rudder, captain and compass. It is of no use to anyone until it decides.
For this reason the UK must leave, to avoid poisoning the EU. The brainless twats who think it would be great for the EU to fail have really no idea how bad things would get if it comes about.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 08:31

Sorry ist

I really really should have clarified my post you are quite right

I voted remain and i support the WA over no deal

I really should have have said that

Ive quite obviously got no problem with people deciding that leaving in a good manner is better than crashing out

Honest and abject apologies Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 08:33

I could do flowers or wine over a grin if that would help

And i agree its too late Sad and we seem quite determined

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 08:50

Having said that it would have been a fucking long post if id excluded everyone who hasn't actually changed their mind but believes that we have to leave

Or that WA is our only choice

Etc

As it is its the

I was remain but the eu have been mean so now i would vote leave

posters that im talking about

But ill go now as once again ive done 3 posts where 1 should have been sufficient Grin

ConfusedHmm

Thank god I hold only EU passport and can't vote.

Hmm.

Motherofcreek · 16/03/2019 08:56

I’ve genuinely never met a leaver who changed to remain.

surferjet · 16/03/2019 09:01

I’m sure the remainers on here have sent many ordinary remain voters over to leave.
The nastiness and arrogance is shocking.
In all my time posting about brexit on here, I can honestly say I haven’t come across a single prolific remainer who comes across as even mildly pleasant.

CalamityJune · 16/03/2019 09:02

I know three leavers, none of whom know eachother, who would now remain and are hoping for a second referendum.

I say this as someone who doesn't really talk about Brexit because of how divisive it is. They brought it up!

You have identified a significant problem. There are too many possibilities. Now is the time to put a peg in the ground and aim for it.
Getting angry with anyone will pander to the far right elements and make everything a whole lot worse. Although a bit 'conspiracy theorist' I feel that Brexit is just one step in a bigger plan where the UK is just the fall guy. As links with Putin and to a lesser extent Trump emerge the theory gets stronger.
