People who've changed their mind...

Theworldisfullofgs · 15/03/2019 20:16

There seems to be a lot of people on the internet who say they were a remainer but changed their mind to leave.

Has anyone who is STILL remain ever met anyone who has shifted from remain to leave?

*QMV

rather than QVM

There was an article in the Telegraph explaining it.

{he relish that you talk about making someone jobless, if of course it is true, is disgusting.
You may well blame leavers that's fine. You can still express regret and sadness at making someone redundant, rather than reveling in it. That says a lot about you.}

I am not reveling in it, it gives me a problem of finding replacements but as the work is irregular it is not worth the hassle of a ton of new paperwork.
I am blaming the fact that the UK is leaving thus deliberately creating problems. Of course you factored this possibility into your vote?
I note that no one has suggested alternative activities for the far larger workforce building cars and plane wings that will also need employment before long.

Read it thank you weetabix

From what ive read though, it appears it can be vetoed

So if its vetoed and not everyone agrees its a good idea ( i agree that it probably needs looking at) then it cant go through

But if we do the WA depending on when it happens we wont be able to veto it

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 16:20

Veto as a word doesnt look right any more

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 16:22

Hope you're sleeping a bit better by the way,

Its shit having no sleep...i reckon I'd be virtually homicidal

@LeClerc it won't let me quote your earlier post but I think your 'conspiracy theorist' comment is spot on. Have thought this for quite some time, based on following the news and things I'd heard from people in the know, even way before all the links with Trump/ Putin started to come out.

Which does sort of take all the rational predictions and expectations out of it. You need to analyse and prepare from a different perspective.

I know several people who are "remainers" but didn't actually vote in the referendum because they were busy etc and were confident in the result Hmm

They would certainly get their finger out should there be a second vote.

I am not a conspiracy theorist as I said but there are lot of awkward 'revelations' coming out now. Mrs May refuses to investigate 'dark money' and voter influencing from the original referendum, actively suppressing investigations. There is the unhealthy friendliness of Farage with Trump, and the activities of Bannon and many others with yet more having cosy chats with far right groups in Europe and elsewhere. Various people seen in Poland and Italy talking with far right leaders. There is a logic to it but Brexit is not the main driver.
There are also mentions of the Fourth Reich, and the fact? that a significant number of Hitlers third Reich slipped away to Argentina, although they will be very old by now of course, but there is a town in Argentina which is more 'old German' than many places in Germany.

Yes i know a few of those, they just thought it was a done deal I suppose

My friends partner didn't vote but said he would have voted leave...now its changed to he did vote leave Grin

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 17:32

Someone I know told me they voted leave after the referendum and now claims to have not voted at all.

prettybird · 16/03/2019 18:41

A friend of mine knew a couple of people who supported the EU but voted Leave because they wanted "to show that bitch Sturgeon that she didn't speak for Scotland" , assuming that Remain would win Confused

God knows what they'd vote now! Shock

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/03/2019 18:50

And there were people interviewed directly after the referendum who said they voted leave as a shot over the bows of the tory party, they were convinced that remain would win

YeOldeTrout · 16/03/2019 18:57

24-25 June, There were countless radio phone-ins & voxpox interviews, people saying how much they regretted their Leave vote & apologising publically for their Leave Vote and saying they never actually wanted to Leave.

Colleague (we all have PhDs, by the way) said in December 2015 she only wanted to vote leave to give Establishment a kicking, not to actually Leave. Might have been funny if we weren't at a EU-funded project meeting.

On a related note, I heard last week about a leaver colleague who works in shipping. He is taking early retirement on 29th March because of ... Brexit Grin.
