People who've changed their mind...

Theworldisfullofgs · 15/03/2019 20:16

There seems to be a lot of people on the internet who say they were a remainer but changed their mind to leave.

Has anyone who is STILL remain ever met anyone who has shifted from remain to leave?

Well, those who didn't vote didn't necessarily WANT leave to win but their passivity allowed it to happen

🤔🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️

In the big brave new world that 'Leavers' are taking the UK into it would be nice to see some sort of plan. 2 weeks is not long and you will have to have thought of something by then because you will have left and you have to be big and grown up and DO something.
At the moment March 30th is an almost blank sheet of paper with the exception of some Toblerones from Switzerland.

😂 you seriously expect randoms on MN to sort out brexit?
I voted to leave yes.
That doesn’t mean I have to do all the work.
😂

She is 67 and she was confused about the cod war and the cold war. Aside from being thick as anything she is a narcissistic old witch. So, surferjet, I honestly don't care if you call her my 'poor mum'. Poor me for dealing with it.

I feel it is my duty to help her make decisions since she doesn't seem capable of assessing all the evidence quickly enough.

Theworldisfullofgs · 16/03/2019 11:28

surfer I think you project your own behavior on to others

I also think it's perfectly legit to vent frustrations with friends and family on here.
One of the benefits and indeed objects of an anonymous forum surely?

Clavinova · 16/03/2019 11:33

Haven't read every post - but how do you know whether Leavers who say they will vote Remain in a second referendum are not lying to you now - especially if you are an ardent Remainer?
"Oh dear, Leave won again - how did that happen?" Wink

Of course I don't expect you to do all the work but with almost 3 years of shouting about how you have 'won' but not able to present any tangible improvements or suggestions about how it might be achieved is bloody pathetic.
I have made my plans and I am putting them into action. It is costing me a fortune because the shitheads who voted leave have made it far more difficult to take responsibility myself. So forgive me for not being sympathetic to a bunch who have no clue and are blaming others for having made a stupid decision.

Liz Truss has changed her mind: she of “Pork!!!” fame Grin

Comments like that would make it very difficult for some Leavers to admit they would vote Leave again - easier for them to pretend they would vote Remain next time.

KrazyKatlady · 16/03/2019 11:47

I'm surprised i would have thought tjere would have been more people who voted to leave that then changed their mind. I voted to remain and havent changed my mind but wish we knew one way or the other. At the moment irs all what might/could happen and it feels as if we are living in limbo.

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 12:02

I'm surprised i would have thought there would have been more people who voted to leave that then changed their mind.

There’s lots of reasons why this isn’t the case.

Many wouldn’t admit it even if they had changed their mind but the biggest issue is those who’ve just dug their heels in an absolutely refuse to acknowledge that Leave is going to put us in a worse position than before.

If you ignore all the evidence it quite easy to believe in Leave I suppose.

I’ve never understood how those people don’t question things, even just to themselves but they clearly don’t.

For instance, I’ve never ever seen a Leaver give an example of a country we want to trade with that we can’t now and yet it’s a reason to leave that is frequently cited.

I’ve kept thinking that surely at some point people the penny will drop but no.

It always has been and gets more like a cult every day.

surferjet · 16/03/2019 12:19

Aside from being thick as anything she is a narcissistic old witch

Well if this is how some remainers talk about their own mothers it explains a lot.

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 12:22

Oh give over surfer.

Disliking family is not something that is exclusive to Remainers.

You really are scraping the barrel now.

Why don’t you try telling us a few positives we have to look forward to instead?

Clavinova · 16/03/2019 12:23

You've got to look where the evidence comes from though...

Only this morning I was reading something published by an academic at Cambridge University; I looked her up on LinkedIn - she volunteered for the Liberal Democrats for 6 months - so not impartial after all - hence her anti-Brexit viewpoint.

I also found out this morning that Chatham House, a well-established think tank, is being described as an "anti-Brexit Gentleman's Club" in a French financial newspaper; le club de l'élite anti-Brexit - yet we are supposed to regard their (numerous) publications as impartial.

Clavinova · 16/03/2019 12:24

Is that you BorisBogtrotter?

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 12:27

Indeed clavinova

If you want to be informed it’s true that you have to look at a broad range of sources and assess them bearing in mind their potential bias.

But the point is you do actually look at this stuff rather than sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting ‘la, la, la’

Aside from anything, there are few, if any, examples of what benefits Leave will bring that amount to anything more than soundbites and rhetoric.

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 12:30

Yes, you’ve caught me clavinova 🤔

Clavinova · 16/03/2019 12:30

‘la, la, la’

Sorry, Boris - I'm going out now...Grin

AFistfulofDolores1 · 16/03/2019 12:33

You just have to be aware that abstaining just means (passively) voting for the winning option.

If that means voting Leave, then that's fine with me, because I support the outcome of the first referendum no matter how much I disagree with it. Stupidity, ignorance, reactivity, and all. Democracy doesn't guarantee a likeable or even preferable outcome; that's the risk when a vote is given to everyone.

Motherofcreek · 16/03/2019 12:43

surfer all you do lately is pitch up on threads and make nasty and / or dismissive comments

Actually this is ALL remainers do. Look at the language used towards remainers on here...

Motherofcreek · 16/03/2019 12:44

Leavers**

Bearbehind · 16/03/2019 12:47

To be honest mother given we have 2 weeks to go and know idea what’s going to happen, the language is remarkably restrained.

You voted for this.

Own it and tell us why it’s going to be worth it.

surferjet · 16/03/2019 13:02
