Vote 12th March: Meaningful Vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

Vote 13th March: If WA fails, vote on No Deal

Vote 14th March: If WA fails, vote on A50 extension

Not much more to add at this stage that's not repeating what's been said before.

Just out of meeting with Chief Whip, IDS says there will be statement in Strasbourg at 9pm as well as in Commons - 'reaching a point' where there might be agreement and will 'keep an open mind' about whether Brexiteers can support it

'Hand on heart, I'll find a way to beat the backstop':

DAN HODGES reveals the Attorney General's pledge as he reveals a plan to rescue Brexit

The whole point of the backstop is that if it has to be invoked, it can't be beaten Confused

There would be a certain serendipity if Boris got lumbered with a No Deal Brexit. I don't imagine many people with sense want to take that on (of course Raab is practically salivating, but then...Calais). I actually think he would be no different from the circus we've already got. I don't think it can get any more bizarre. Of course TM's style of making the UK hostile for immigrants will be more brazen under Boris. He'll just use longer words to offend people publicly. In fact it might be quite refreshing to get a loudmouth in after all of the secret Maybot antics.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/03/2019 17:39

That is true. If they thought delivering Brexit was a poisoned chalice, wait until one of them gets the delivered no deal to recover from! Divine retribution methinks.

PM motorcade has just left Downing St again for flight to Strasbourg...

< Anyone reminded of that weird plane journey by Priti Patel after her final ministerial goof, when the media were following her like cops chasing a perp ? >

DGRossetti · 11/03/2019 17:40

All any announcement can be in advance of a vote we have been assured is happening is some form of additional "best endeavours" type fluffy wording around the WA. Can't see that being a game changer.

Alternatively, it could conceivably be some sort of extension (given my deep scepticism ....) but then what would TM have to give the EU to secure that ?

tobee · 11/03/2019 17:42

Re Boris becoming PM under no deal will we enjoy the schadenfreude?

Adding to pp uses of serendipity and divine retribution--

Yes, but I am even more reminded of the Spitting Image sketch about how clueless the UK was about the EC (as 'twas) with politicians dashing between Strasbourg and Brussels ....

Cross out fail

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 17:45

Boris wants May to deliver Brexit and take the fallout.
Then he can ride in on a white horse.

Unfortunately for him, the shitstorm is likely to be long-lasting

His face after the ref showed he knew disaster was coming

imo, he deliberately self-destructed in the 2016 leadership contest - he let Gove knife him - rather than be responsible for delivering Brexit

Now, however, he can't wait much longer, or the young guns will overtake him
Tory Next Gen are reportedly revving up, ready to move in and move up.

Butterymuffin · 11/03/2019 17:47

This declaring ourselves unilaterally out of the backstop is going to look ever so good to all the potential partners in new trade deals. So honest and trustworthy of us.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 11/03/2019 17:47

I do dread to think what "fixes" he will come up with (remembering water cannon idea). He'll probably send out a small pack of tomato seeds to every household or something ridiculous. That's actually probably too sensible.

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 17:48

Liar, liar pants on fire

Krishnan Guru-Murthy@krishgm

The false claim about Britain being forced to join the Euro if it stayed in the EU has now been deleted from Esther McVey's twitter account,

but no explanation or apology.

She remains a member of Her Majesty's Privy Council

< and a liar >

Loletta · 11/03/2019 17:50

Anne Marie Morris (ERG) on Radio 4 with Evan Davis was very sure that whatever TM brings back, the ERG will vote it down because 1. She doesn't think anything major will change and 2. they don't like the deal anyway.
She also said that No Deal would be great for the country AngryAngry

BigChocFrenzy · 11/03/2019 17:51

Matthew O'Toolee@MatthewOToole2*

The DUP backed a Leave vote in the expectation that it wouldn't happen.

They are now officially advocating no deal, possibly in the same expectation.

For their own sake, they better hope they are right this time.

< the DUP keep outsmarting themselves >

Loletta · 11/03/2019 17:51

And that was in the last half hour.

DGRossetti · 11/03/2019 17:52

This declaring ourselves unilaterally out of the backstop is going to look ever so good to all the potential partners in new trade deals. So honest and trustworthy of us.

I think the fact it's already in the wild, with no blistering rebuttal from the highest power in the UK has been noted where it matters.

The UK is now damaged goods. I can see our credit rating starting to slip.

Loletta · 11/03/2019 17:52

It seemed to me that with that interview the ERG are openly advocating No.Deal too
