This thread is for those prepping for brexit and building up their family stores for the possibility of no deal and food shortages and/or delays.
Suggestions welcome on what to stash.

I spent, and I’m not kidding, £40 in wilkos the other day on toiletries. Makes me feel ill! I went there because it has brands I use for less...I even bought suncream because if that goes up in price it becomes pretty unaffordable.

PrivacyPolicyYeahRight · 23/02/2019 11:03

Still, at least I have shampoo, deodorant, tampons, hairspray, suncream, toothpaste etc. Just a shock to buy all your main toiletries in one go isn’t it! Never happens so you never realise how expensive they actually are!

BlackeyedGruesome · 23/02/2019 11:26

Bellini, my post about chickens was in reply to a post further up the thread. Wrote it early-ish this morning then did not post til 60 miles down the motorway. Blush

Only reading the thread in service stations on the way to picking up DD. Apologies for random interjections!

PrawnOfCreation · 23/02/2019 12:36

I came out of tesco with 10kg rice, 10kg chapati flour, 5kg pasta, 10 packets of san towels, and loads of condiments.

Thankful for self scan.

TipseyTorvey · 23/02/2019 15:41

Butt update!! I think there might actually have to be a zombie apocalypse before I'd feed my family water from that thing! It's at the end of the garden half buried in a bush and looks like dead rat soup with mould on top Envy(sick not envy). Lovely day out mind so that was nice but I think I might have to plan for a bit more bottled water..

DistressedAndWorried7845 · 23/02/2019 15:51

Hello all, love the thread. I’ve done some stashing away of bits and bobs, but just saw someone mention cat food- could this be a possible issue too? Mine have purina one- should I stock up with zooplus just in case? I don’t want to have six hungry cats on my hands!!

bellinisurge · 23/02/2019 16:17

Yep - including pets and hygiene considerations (like toothpaste and sanpro) also important.

DistressedAndWorried7845 · 23/02/2019 16:24

Thanks bellini! I never really thought about them (Grin) but I guess it makes total sense. Zooplus it is then

GeistohneGrenzen · 23/02/2019 17:05

Ha! You trump mine which has only a ring of some weird slugs sporting buff and grey spotty camoflage - they've taken up residence under the lid for a couple of years now but you never know what version of plague the ones dropping off their perch into the water might carry!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/02/2019 17:15

I've decided to leave the lid on my water butts after the investigations undertaken today! 😂

TipseyTorvey · 23/02/2019 17:36

Agree, everyone stay away from the butts !! Suggest we go for wildchilds purifying system instead or we'll be dead from some horrible water bourne thingy long before they fix the supply chain.

SparklySneakers · 23/02/2019 17:56

Rat soup will be a brexit specialty, you just wait Grin

I call those Leopard slugs.
I tend to get what look rather like leeches at the bottom of mine. Thinking about it, I should perhaps cultivate them in case we need to revert back to a very basic form of medication and surgery.

wildchild554 · 23/02/2019 18:30

@GeistohneGrenzen oo don't forget if you get desperte can eat the snails :') Wonder where France will get their snails from now?
I remember visiting a snail farm and found out they buy snails from us due to the snails their being effected by radiation. That was 13 years ago though.

yolofish · 23/02/2019 18:53

could we do slugs in garlic butter? I mean, only if desperate enough...

wildchild554 · 23/02/2019 19:21

@yolofish probably, I seem to recall them saying they taste a bit like prawn, need to keep them a couple weeks first and feed them so you know what they been eating basically lol

NoWordForFluffy · 23/02/2019 19:28

I remember Gordon Ramsey getting snails from the garden to cook. I'm pretty sure you don't feed them at all, just give them water, so they're empty when you cook them.

But slugs can kill you as brown slugs (which, unhelpfully aren't actually always brown) are toxic. You could end up paralysed or dead from eating one. So, stick to snails!

wildchild554 · 23/02/2019 19:30

@yolofish

wildchild554 · 23/02/2019 19:32

@NoWordForFluffy if i was going to eat snails i'd feel cruel starving them first

NoWordForFluffy · 23/02/2019 19:41

Then I hope you like eating snail shit, @wildchild554! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 23/02/2019 19:46

Here goes: feed them for a few days then starve them for a few days!

yolofish · 23/02/2019 19:47

nah fuckit, slugs off the menu then!!

bellinisurge · 23/02/2019 20:03

Actually feel a bit sick so I'm ignoring this thread for a while.

SparklySneakers · 23/02/2019 20:49
