Following on from the fantastic thread of the weekend, I thought we'd continue discussing our brexit cupboards and boxes here. Here's to all the preppers and their cupboards, no matter what they contain. (Keep quiet about your stash in real life).

Thanks cloudtree, doing a home bargins run at the end of the week so will pick some up.

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 16:25

I'd just go for multivitamins with an emphasis on Vit C if you are not confident your supply food will help maintain good Vit C levels.

I have MS and my only "treatment " so far is regular B12 injections which is supposed to help my MS fatigue. I have bought specific b vitamins as well in case I can't get my jab. Not sure how helpful they will be but ...

I also have multi Vit gummies for my dd - usually on a 3for2 at Boots.

confit duck legs in a tin!

(one tinned meat I'll happily scoff) Wink

Jens303 · 28/01/2019 16:27

cloudtree - clearly asking a question is not allowed unless deemed so by yourself! And clearly by crossing out the phrase 'because that it not allowed' it is aimed personally.

It was not specifically directed at you but at everyone who thought the way to go was to make very unnecessary personal insults.

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 16:28

That was to @BlueEyeshadow

Actually here's a good thread on French supermarkets.

AlphaJuno · 28/01/2019 16:29

I did notice that there were no tinned potatoes in Asda today Hmm. I also buy the occasional pack of 'special brew' for a friend and the guy in the local shop said it's been very difficult to get hold of recently at the cash and carries. He'd tried a couple of local ones and had to source some from London in the end.

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 16:29

Oh good Lord @Jens303 , ask a bloody question already.

mum2jakie · 28/01/2019 16:30

I have the start of a very modest Brexit box today! Stored away from teenage eyes so just need to keep adding bits to get a few days worth of stuff. (Ideally longer but we are a family of five and shop daily currently!!!)

So far:
3l uht
2x supernoodles
2x pasta n sauce
Passata
4 packs stock cubes
Paracetamol
Pot noodle

Got my oldest sorted for snacks for a couple of hours so far!! ConfusedBlush

Pretty sure I'm not responsible for any empty shelves in my area!

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 16:30

Carrying moaning from one thread to a new thread is so.....Brexit.

pointythings · 28/01/2019 16:33

Good idea about matches! I have a tonne of candles (from waaaay back when they cost a bomb in the UK but were cheap in my native Netherlands and my parents would bring them over in enormous quantities). I also have a tonne of batteries stocked up. But no matches. Added to the list.

I still need to work on flour, dried pulses and tinned fruit and veg. Also a stock of spices and passata to make things tasty because the 1960s diet does NOT appeal to me - bland and tasteless. It doesn't have to be like that.

I'm already stocked on toiletries, need to boost the sanpro stocks a bit. I'm also getting in some big bags of charcoal so I can cook if the worst happens and we have no gas/electricity - if the worst doesn't happen then it'll be a BBQ summer in the most literal way.

My late H always said 'it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it'.

TheElementsSong · 28/01/2019 16:34

Scandal Grin

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 16:34

Some yummy meals in there @mum2jakie . Might I venture a suggestion of favourite breakfast stuff when you get chance.
I've somehow got my fussy eater to like porridge as long as I put Nutella (or own brand similar) or jam on it. Also good for sticking a bit of tinned fruit on.
However as a person who can often have a sneaky bowl of Shreddies at a moment's notice, I also think evil Grin box cereal is fine.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 16:34

cloudtree - clearly asking a question is not allowed unless deemed so by yourself! And clearly by crossing out the phrase 'because that it not allowed' it is aimed personally.

Chillax. I didn't even follow the need of the last thread because I've been on a conference call and so I have no idea what you even asked. My fuckwit comment wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at anyone who is a fuckwit (but nobody in particular because that isn't allowed and I had to report myself last week for calling someone a cock).

People can ask whatever questions they like and most of the time there are lots of helpful people willing to answer. I was saying I'd been around since the outset on the prepper board to explain that I am generally helpful (or try to be) but that we seemed to have an influx of GFs all of a sudden and it becomes tiring.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 16:36

I didn't even follow the end of the last thread

Jens303 · 28/01/2019 16:36

cloudtree - sorry no idea what a GF is? and don't worry about the reporting i've done it for you

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 16:37

GF is goady fucker. Also not allowed if we're getting into the reporting business... Just saying.

MamaLovesMango · 28/01/2019 16:37

I just hope the shizzle holds off hitting the fizzle until after my kid’s birthdays.

‘Sorry Darling, there’ll be no party for you unless your friends particularly like tinned peas and pasta .’ won’t go down to well....

1tisILeClerc · 28/01/2019 16:38

The whole point of Brexit is that you are supposed to suffer. It just isn't cricket to go over to France to stock up on things.

Hotterthanahotthing · 28/01/2019 16:39

To my wine I am now adding tonic water and catfood.
I am optimistically viewing this as a weight loss opportunity!

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 16:39

@MamaLovesMango ,my DD's birthday is just after Brexit Day. I have been (natch Grin) getting any presents etc in now. I am determined it will be a lovely day for her.

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 16:41

My birthday is ON Brexit Day.

FML.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 16:41

I've bought easter eggs already. Would usually be moaning about the fact that they're in the shops already but this year its quite useful.

AutumnCrow · 28/01/2019 16:42

Jen are you all right? There's no shame in being a little discombobulated by current events.

TheElementsSong · 28/01/2019 16:44

Seriously? Reporting? WTF?

yesimthistired · 28/01/2019 16:45

Ah the fuckwittery continues, shocker.
